My 3G is on its last leg as well. CANNOT wait for the new iphone to come out so that i can then buy the 4G – which will be price reduced (hopefully!) at that time!
I have a 3GS – while it’s not dying (yet), the fact that it’s got only 8GB is killing me. I was planning to upgrade at the end of my contract next year anyway…
The home button on my iPhone 3g hasn’t worked for several months. I have to turn my phone off and on just to get to another screen. I haven’t wanted to fix it because I thought iPhone 5 was coming out in June…then August…then September…UGH! Meanwhile my phone is driving me crazy…and so is Apple.
If it is released October 4th, then that would have been Buster Keaton’s 116th birthday.
Who the heck is Buster Keaton?? I also can’t wait for the iPhone5. I have been severely lacking technology using my crappy LG Chocolate. That’s right I said it, an LG Chocolate… I am in dire need of an iPhone!
I’m also hoping my iPhone 3G will survive until the next iPhone comes out … so not wanting to be stuck.
My 3GS is ready to die with it coming into the 2 year mark early November. I have to charge it every single night otherwise it dies and takes over 20 minutes of charging before it can be revived for use. This is good news and timely, the new version just better last two years.

I’m in the exact same situation… I think I will have to start pleading with my 3G to hold out that long!
Cool! About a month to go. My 3G contact expired about 6 months ago. Now have to decide whether to trade it in at Radio Shack and get some money back, or just go to Best Buy with that Future-Proof option.

Don’t be disappointed if the release is the iPhone 4G this October. That’s the rumor I’ve heard. Not a bad smartphone but not the iPhone 5. Remember AT&T, is finally rolling out a 4G network and all the other providers already have.
