'Project Runway': Best stinkface of the night?

Project Runway consistently serves up some of the most vile/awesome stinkfaces on television. Last night’s episode, which had the contestants designing clothes to throw on top of some New Balance sneakers recently designed by Heidi Klum, was no exception. Vote below for the week’s best.

I imagine this is the face Laura (bottom right) makes when Neiman’s is about to close. READ FULL STORY »

'Goosebumps': Which tale still haunts you?

Goosebumps-Haunted-Mask

I’ve never met a person without a single pop-culture-caused childhood scar — and I don’t mean horseplay gone wrong because you thought you could fight like the kids on Three Ninjas without it ending in disaster. No, I’m talking about the real childhood scars. The ones that are so embedded in your brain that they still make you shudder just a little, like when you get up from bed to close the closet door before turning out the light (guilty!) or when you realize your toes are hanging over the bed (not that this shrimp knows what that feels like) and quickly curl up to get them back on mattress territory. For me, a lot of my irrational minor fears actually stem from one of my absolute favorite shows: GoosebumpsREAD FULL STORY »

'Big Brother': Talk about tonight's double eviction!

As Big Brother taught us this season, nothing good comes in pairs. Like season 13′s ill-advised “Duos” twist. But here’s hoping tonight’s double eviction manages to be more exciting than Porsche reading a car owner’s manual. Who will get eliminated tonight? It’s a safe bet that Big Jeff will send Daniele packing out the door, but what will happen next? Here’s my prediction: Adam wins HOH, puts up Jeff and Jordan, Jordan wins the veto, Shelly is the replacement nominee, Shelly goes home, and the Chenbot turns into a real girl. Just kidding! None of those things will happen.

Either way, come here during tonight’s action-packed episode to talk about the hour, and be sure to come back later on to read my recap of the night’s proceedings. Or just ZING ZINGGG ZING ZING ZINGGGGGGG! (I’m terrible at insults.) UPDATE: Two players have been evicted! Find out who they are after the jump! READ FULL STORY »

PopWatch Confessional: Who was the first celebrity you ever wrote a letter to?

A random thought occurred to me the other day while I was watching A League of Their Own for roughly the 737th time on cable (well, besides how Stilwell Angel might be the most evil movie child since Damien): Do kids still write letters to celebrities? In this age of Twitter and information overload (what would you even ask your favorite star when you already know everything about them?) the accessibility of talking to a celebrity — or even the desire to — must have changed somewhat.  READ FULL STORY »

Hollywood Walk of Fame says 'Hell to the no!' to reality stars. Somewhere, Snooki cries, 'Wahhh!'

For years, people have come from all over the world to visit the historic Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles to follow in the footsteps of celebrities and snap photos of the plaques dedicated to some of the greatest artists of our time. (Then they hop over to Grauman’s Chinese Theater to discover how many of them have shockingly tiny or unreasonably large hands.) But might future generations step right over the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe and wonder where The Situation and Kim Kardashian are? In other words, youths are horrible, horrible people and we are doomed.

Thankfully, the Hollywood Walk of Fame isn’t having any of that. At least, for now. On Monday, the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s Facebook page posted, “Someone asked if we give reality show characters stars? Hell to the No!” (Hmm, I wonder what Jackée or Calvin Tran would have to say about this? Probably this.) READ FULL STORY »

Summer Movie Body Count: Things get bloody with 'Conan the Barbarian', 'Fright Night'...and 'One Day'?

As many of the writers at EW can attest, we live and die by the notion that the pen is mightier than the sword. Of course, we’d last roughly about thirteen seconds into Conan the Barbarian if we went around wielding some Bic in the face of blood-thirsty warriors (Sword: 1, Pen: 0). We’d probably need something a little sturdier to ward off Colin Farrel’s handsome vampire in Fright Night, too (Vampire: 1, Sword: O). Still, the power returns to the pen’s hands by the time we roll around to the big screen adaptation of One Day…and a main, beloved character gets written off in a truly depressing way. We…win? You know the routine, PopWatchers: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD for Conan the Barbarian, Fright Night, and One Day! READ FULL STORY »

Apple stock slips following Steve Jobs' resignation

If you’re a Mac, you saw a slight slip in your stock this morning: Following Steve Jobs’ resignation announcement Wednesday, Apple shares dropped nearly two percent, selling at 369.74 as of approximately 10:45 a.m. ET. Don’t fear too much, Apple stock holders — that’s not too large a drop, especially considering a figure of magnitude stepped down from the company. After all, the company has survived much worse things.

Steve Jobs is 'the greatest technical leader ... in our lifetime,' says Steve Wozniak

It’s a lofty claim, but surely not one that many would disagree with. And Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak was so steadfast in his belief that resigning Apple CEO Steve Jobs is a technological marvel, he repeated his praise twice during an interview with Bloomberg West‘s Emily Chang and Cory Johnson. First labeling Jobs as “the greatest technical leader we’ve ever seen in our lifetime, at least,” Wozniak later amped up his statement: “He’s always going to be remembered as probably, maybe for the next 100 years, the greatest business leader — at least technology business leader — of our time, ever.”

During the interview (see video here), Wozniak talked about how proud he was just to be associated with Jobs, who co-founded Apple with Wozniak and Ronald Wayne in 1976. READ FULL STORY »

This Week's Cover: Sarah Michelle Gellar on 'Ringer,' 'Buffy' and motherhood

There’s one thing Sarah Michelle Gellar hates about Ringer, her new drama on The CW premiering Sept. 13: The shoes. “Due to the lack of fight scenes, the fancy footwear comes out,” says the actress, who for seven star-making, comfortably shod seasons staked a legion of demonic bloodsuckers (and smooched with a couple of the nicer, more misunderstood ones) in Buffy The Vampire Slayer. In her eagerly anticipated return to series TV, the 34-year-old actress is more likely to wear designer gowns and high heels than sneakers and a hoodie. When we spent the morning with her on the set earlier this month, Gellar looked smashing in a black Versace dress (“It’s Ver-sase,” she quipped, quoting Showgirls) but was quick to kick off the matching shoes. “It’s beautiful,” she said. “But you know, fancy footwear is a pain!”

Don’t worry, readers. This week’s cover story about The Woman Who Once Was Buffy covers more ground than just wardrobe. READ FULL STORY »
