This Week's Cover: Fall Movie Preview!

In this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, the stars of November’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 discuss how they approached key scenes in the film, from the tense walk down the aisle to the pillow-shredding honeymoon, to the bloody, ghastly climax. But you don’t have to be a Twihard to enjoy EW’s Fall Movie Preview, which dishes on the biggest and best films opening before the end of the year. Some highlights:

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s stars talk about adapting the massive bestseller to the screen, and Rooney Mara, who plays Lisbeth Salander, discusses the risqué, topless ad for the film that recently caused a stir.

Brad Pitt reveals the particular challenges of turning Michael Lewis’ 2003 book Moneyball into a movie. “Listen, we’re dealing with economics, we’re dealing with [statistics-driven] sabermetrics, we’re dealing with things that are not necessarily dramatic cinematically and palatable for an audience. Even Michael Lewis said to us, ‘Sure, I’ll sell you the rights. I don’t know how you’re going to make a movie out of it…’”  READ FULL STORY »

Did you hear the one about Dane Cook trying his hand, once again, at a serious acting career? Now, don’t go setting up a punchline just yet, PopWatchers.

Roadside Attractions confirmed to EW that their upcoming indie drama Answers to Nothing will be released nationwide on Dec. 2. The film, about a group of people seeking redemption in the midst of a child kidnapping case, stars Elizabeth Mitchell, Julie Benz, Zach Gilford, Barbara Hershey, and, yes, Cook. Mitchell explained to EW back in 2009 that the movie, “Is a little bit like Magnolia, where you get this glimpse into people’s lives and it may not be exactly what you want to see, but it is accurate.”

Nevertheless, it’s a pretty safe assumption that many of you stopped reading around “Dane Cook” or made up your mind about his part in Answers to Nothing right around, well, “Dane Cook.” READ FULL STORY »

Today in pop culture platinum (literally): Look who's gone gold!

Kanye West, that demure little media flower, made headlines this week when he compared himself to Hitler.

But it turns out that he is fewer Kevin Bacon degrees away from another evil despot — or at least, the poster for a movie about the super-sociopathic son of one.

Am I the only one who just noticed how go-for-baroque twinsies the album cover for Jay-Z and Kanye’s Watch the Throne and the movie poster for the Dominic Cooper-starring Uday Hussein chronicle The Devil’s Double are? Gold bouillon for everyone!

After misfiring with the first G.I. Joe film, The Rise of Cobra, Paramount seems determined to call in elite reinforcements for next year’s sequel. First, the studio announced that sequel-savior Dwayne Johnson would provide some muscle, playing Roadblock. Then Wonder Woman Adrianne Palicki came aboard to play Lady Jaye. And now, Bruce Willis is in talks to play the original G.I. Joe, General Joe Colton, as initially reported by the Hollywood Reporter. READ FULL STORY »

Things are about to get weird: John Stamos and Bob Saget team up for a bedroom affection PSA

Is sub-par cuddling ruining your love life? Try a little tenderness with this bedtime tutorial by John Stamos and his unlikely snuggle buddy Bob Saget.

Strange bedfellows? Yep. Literally. The two have collaborated for a hilarious new College Humor video, and trust us when we say that there’s actually nothing right about it. (We’re certainly pro-cuddling here at EW, but the sight of the Tanner patriarch butterfly-kissing Uncle Jesse is a little much for anybody to handle.)

Watch and learn as they team up to demonstrate Stamos’ signature cuddling techniques, including the “Stamos Soother,” the “Stamos Shark Sleep” and the “Stamos S’Touching… Her With Your Fingers.” (A heads up: The clip contains some NSFW language.)  READ FULL STORY »

'White Collar' summer finale: Some of the best acting you might not be watching

White-Collar

Network TV has a reputation for being forgettable during the summer months, but ever since Sex and the City debuted in the summer of 1998, cable has been the perfect cure for the summertime blues. 'Lopez Tonight' canceled: 5 memorable moments from the late night show

TBS announced earlier today that Thursday night would be the final episode of Lopez Tonight after two years on the air. While the show struggled with ratings and always felt a bit out of place in the competitive late-night television landscape (it was never as sharp or relevant as its time slot rival, the firing-on-all-cylinders Late Night with Jimmy Fallon), the series still had some stand-out moments during its run.

Before George Lopez and his gabfest bow out, we wanted to take a look back at five of our favorite moments from Lopez Tonight. READ FULL STORY »
