It was tough to pare down the supporting actor comedy category for this year’s EWwy Awards. After the Emmy noms were announced, the “NICK OFFERMAN WAS ROBBED” comments appeared so early and often on EW.com that in my mind, Ron Swanson is the poster manchild for the EWwys. (Victory over him, Ron Swanson, would be the rarest jewel of all.) Virtually every dude on Community and Parks and Recreation should have been a candidate according to your nominations, not to mention the dozens of other funny guys on TV. We reluctantly narrowed the field to six. Watch them below, then flip through all of this year’s EWwy nominees in our photo gallery.
Adam Scott, Parks and Recreation
The only thing better than Ben’s severe awkwardness is watching Scott self-consciously react to said awkwardness — just for a split second — every single time.
*
Charlie Day, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
He’s like an enthusiastic, hilarious puppy you could just watch react to things all day. Focus, Charlie!
*
Neil Patrick Harris, How I Met Your Mother
Season 6 showed us an unexpected (but welcome) serious side of quippy, womanizing Barney as he met his real father and may have found true love. (If the video doesn’t work, watch it at CBS.com.)
*
Nick Offerman, Parks and Recreation
Ron Swanson is a hamburger, made of meat, on a bun, with nothing. You’re goddamn right he’ll win. (Also not to be missed: NBC’s amazing reel of Ron Swanson vs. Food.)
*
Bill Hader, Saturday Night Live
With spot-on impressions (Dateline‘s Keith Morrison, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, Charlie Sheen) and the emergence of original character city correspondent Stefon, Hader has absolutely become the MVP of SNL. He’s got fists like little empanadas!
*
Danny Pudi, Community
The elf maiden/dungeon master’s work in “Advanced Dungeons and Dragons” was cool, cool, cool. (And yes, this clip would be even more appropriate to demonstrate why Alison Brie/Hector the Well-Endowed deserves a EWwy, too.)

I definitely vote Danny Pudi. Not only is he hilarious, but he is an EXCELLENT actor. This is evidenced by the fact that he often has to play a character PLAYING a character (i.e., Abed as Han Solo, Abed as Don Draper, etc.) I hope he gets some recognition. He’s so fun.
Agreed! Danny Pudi all the way!
I don’t get the Hader love. My vote is for Offerman. Ron Swanson for the win!
So happy to see Hader here. He is single-handedly bringing SNL back to it’s glory. Also, from everything I’ve heard and read, he seems like the nicest person (to the point of being overly-so sometimes), and I think that’s a quality in Hollywood that has often gone absence. So, for those reasons, my vote goes to him. Viva la Stefon!
Stefon and I are going to a club called Wince tomorrow night. It has trolls dressed as babies in dayglo diapers. their chest hairs are braided and beaded. There are NHL players on stilts dressed only in their helmets. They serve elephant feed and banana and ketchup cocktails. The floor is covered with gumballs. They give away mini licorice chap stick. The music is played along with the amped up sound of a dental drill. etc…
I went there last night. It was great. Make sure you check your pants with the 2 headed lady at the door.
New York’s hottest club is FAIL.
I really like all the guys in this category but let’s all get real, Offerman should have not only been nominated for the Emmy but he should have won it. He has to win the Ewwy or there is now justice.
***Oops I meant “There is NO justice” darn early morning tiredness
The elf maiden/dungeon master’s work in “Advanced Dungeons and Dragons” was cool, cool, cool.I am a 28 years old doctor, mature and beautiful.and now I am seeking a good man who can give me real love , so i got a username Lindasunny2002 on–a’ge’l'es’s'da’te.c óm–.it is the first and best club for y’ounger women and old’er men, or older women and y’ounger men,to int’eract with each other. Maybe you wanna ch’eck ‘it out or tell your friends!
Sure thing!! If they can teach me how to use ‘ with abandon like you do.
Gee, jessica, fo’r a 28 year old d’octor you sur’e use a lot of unn’ecessary apost’rophes.
Great picks, but not only should Nick Offerman have won this Emmy, he should have won EVERY Emmy. It’s shocking to me as a hardcore liberal that my favorite character on television is also probably the most staunchly conservative character on television, but that’s a credit to the writers and Mr. Offerman.
If Nick Offerman does not win it will literally be the opposite of awesomesauce. He deserves an Emmy win. The man is brilliant. Ron Swanson is the best comedic character on TV! Doesn’t his awesome hair and ‘stache immediately put him ahead of everyone else? Not to mention his drunken dance?
I am so happy to see both Nick Offerman and Adam Scott in this category. Nick Offerman deserved an Emmy nomination, and Adam Scott was amazing during season 3 and added so much to the show. The supporting cast members of Parks and Rec are a huge part of what makes the show so great, and I really want to see them get some much-deserved recognition.
This is an insanely great grouping of actors…more so than any of the actual Emmy categories AND the other Ewwy ones. I think I’m going with Offerman, with Adam Scott so very close behind in my mind. But they’re ALL so good.
Nick Offerman. But it’s a close one – there are so many great ones on the list.
Nick Offerman. Hands down. All I need to do to brighten my day is watch the episode where he gets drunk on Snake Juice and dances. His facial expressions alone should win this award. He was completely snubbed from the Emmy’s. Why in the heck did there need to be THAT many nominees from Modern Family? Dumb.
DEFINITELY Charlie Day. Come on, people. Charlie Kelly the funniest character on TV right now. Period.
I agree! Charlie all the way!!
No offense to the others, but Nick Offerman has to take this. He’s brilliant!
Danny Pudi is amazing. He’s definitely my winner. I know I’ll get in trouble for saying this, but I actually really really dislike Ron Swanson (although Offerman plays him well)
I have the Ron Swanson Pyramid of Greatness poster..so my vote definitely gos to Nick Offerman! Hopefully next year is his year because he was snubbed!!
