When did you stop watching 'Desperate Housewives'? And will you come back?

The news yesterday that Desperate Housewives impending eighth season would be its last was greeted by my brain with a small but pungent whooshing sound. Like: Pffffffshhhhhh. Read the full post.

desperate housewives is my favorite show hands down… it was dramatic, had great story lines, and had the perfect amount of whitty humor.. I loved it, but after the 5 season, it started going down-hill, it just became, boring. the stroy lines were played out and the characters, new and old became boring… (vanessa williams’ character, for example) she has had no great story line.. and seems almost like an extra in the show… So I am glad that the network is ending the show before it gets even worse… But i will be a fan unitl the end, I have watched ever episode, twice…the early seasons even more. :)

Oh, man…Season 2 was pretty awful. I think I stopped watching early in Season 3, though.

I stopped watching when Family Guy returned. Desperate Housewives was Heroes before Heroes even aired.
It’s too bad. Desperate Housewives, Lost, and Grey’s Anatomy helped revitalize ABC; too bad none of them held up after two seasons. (Anybody else think Lost should have ended with the rescue of the Oceanic Six?)

Just want to add one more issue in terms of where DH went wrong over the seasons (although I still maintain that it has sentimental value to me and I’ll stick with it till the end). The probably many critics and viewers complained about was that there was not enough interaction between the housewives as the seasons evolved. For me, some of the strongest moments in season 7 happened when Gabby moved in with Bree and, of course, the finale when we finally saw the 4 women working together again. These 4 characters are at their best when their storylines intersect with one another. The show, after all, is centered around their friendship and we didn’t always get enough of that. However, I suspect things will change in season 8

I think I stopped watching somewhere in Season 3? Bree and Owen were about to get divorced? Owen started turning into a caricature of himself? That is all I recall, I started getting annoyed. The show might have been a victim of my complete distaste for Grey’s Anatomy around the same time and I want to say something else caught my attention, but I cannot tell you what. True Blood, maybe? That is only in the summertime, so maybe a new season of Big Love? I just found myself annoyed to the point of anger. I probably won’t watch the new season, heck, I will probably just watch NBC’s Sunday Night Football.

I think I quit watching at the end of season 3. Whichever was the season before the stupid 5 year forward plot. I will NOT be watching the final season. Far too many other good things on TV on Sunday nights.

Desperate Housewives was must-watch television for the first few (three seasons). But that stupid tornado that came through town and destroyed everything? That was such a lame plot device I never really watched another episode after that. In my opinion, the show jumped the shark — hard — at that point.

I watched faithfully until 2 seasons ago. Then it was trapped on my DVR. I didn’t even finish the last 2 season finales but I did read the ew recap every Monday. I’m sad to see these ladies go but I hope they get one hell of a send off.
