Have you ever asked for a refund after walking out of a movie?

Walking out of a movie makes the statement to your fellow theater patrons, “I hate this film so much that I can’t stand one more minute of it!” But walking out of a movie and then asking for a refund not only means the movie felt like a waste of your time, but your hard-earned money as well. It’s the dissatisfied movie-going experience double whammy.

Recently, The New York Times reported that not only are folks walking out of Terrence Malick’s love-it-or-(literally)-leave-it Tree of Life, but some are demanding refunds, too. READ FULL STORY »

Report: MoviePass cancels test run. Is the service already doomed?

It seems like just yesterday that I was asking if MoviePass seemed like a good idea. Actually, it was Wednesday. Still, a lot has happened in those two days, namely that MoviePass, a new service which would allow film enthusiasts the chance to see as many flicks in theaters as their heart desired for $50 a month, has already hit a snag.

According to Deadline.com (EW reached out to MoviePass, who did not respond immediately to our request), the new company, which was following a similar formula to the mega-successful Netflix, has canceled its test run that was scheduled for San Francisco this holiday weekend. READ FULL STORY »

Matt Bomer does a Bayside High School cheer, is officially my favorite person ever

I knew it was going to be a great episode of Watch What Happens when I heard White Collar stars Matt Bomer and Tiffani Thiessen were going to be guests. But never in my wildest Saved By the Bell dreams could I have imagined this. READ FULL STORY »

David Letterman flips off the audience

David Letterman was having so much fun with his favorite actress, Larry Crowne‘s Julia Roberts, that he seemed peeved that the audience was in the room. When they interrupted his conversation about children with a half-sincere, “Awwwwww,” he fired them the double-bird. No feelings were hurt, fortunately. Take a look. READ FULL STORY »

Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller: Finally on the same side?

A rep for Vince Vaughn confirms that he is in negotiations to join Ben Stiller in the comedy Neighborhood Watch. The long-gestating film, to which Will Ferrell was once attached, is said to revolve around a group of men who form a “neighborhood watch” primarily to get time away from their families, but actually have to do something when they uncover a plot to destroy the world.

Vaughn and Stiller have never been on the same side in a film. They were full-on nemeses in Dodgeball and Starsky & Hutch, they were on rival news teams in Anchorman and estranged brothers in Zoolander. I assume they’ll be fighting on the same side this time, but I hope there’s still some tension between their characters because Vaughn is best when he’s a little prickly. Perhaps they could disagree on the best way to combat the threat, and we could recreate some of Vaughn and Owen Wilson’s magic in Wedding Crashers, in which Vaughn is reluctantly along for the ride… Speaking of Wilson, I’d love to see him in this neighborhood. Who else should be a resident?

'SYTYCD': Mary Murphy on the kissing mayhem

Well, Wednesday night’s show was like no other. Have we gone too far with sexually explicit numbers and themes? Even the judges went temporarily insane! This is my perspective on the kissing scene gone wild.

I was mesmerized with Marko and Melanie; again, beautiful choreography told a story of love and in the middle of the number they had a passionate kiss. After I told them how wonderful they were, I genuinely wanted to know from Melanie how hard it was to kiss someone so passionately that you were not involved with. I wanted to know because I could not kiss my partner on Broadway because he was engaged and it just didn’t feel right.

Melanie is so young and I really wanted to hear her answer, but before I could even finish what I said, Nigel Lythgoe jumped on top of me. READ FULL STORY »

Who is the coolest Smurf?

Smurfs

Choosing the coolest Smurf is much like a mother being asked to pick their favorite child. It’s tempting to claim you don’t have one, but deep in your heart, you know there’s a standout — one that makes you smile, and, frankly, reminds you a little bit of yourself.

Initially, the idea of picking the “coolest” tiny blue person, well, made me blue. But after extensive research and thought — and weeding out some more obscure Smurfs — I’ve narrowed my personal search for the coolest down to two: Papa and Vanity. Papa, for his ability to bring his community together in the face of adversity to fight evil sorcerers (and rock a cool beard in the process); and Vanity, because I think his little flower is cute. The battle is much more difficult than it sounds, I swear. READ FULL STORY »
