Everybody, relax, we can all go back to having our crushes on Mila Kunis! Despite a report from Access Hollywood which claimed that the Friends with Benefits star wouldn’t be able to attend the Marine Corps Ball with Sgt. Scott Moore — who asked her to go as his date via a request on YouTube — her manager confirmed to EW that Kunis is, in fact, still going with him and nothing has changed since she accepted the invitation. Awesomeness? Affirmative.

Your move, Timberlake!

All seven 'Harry Potter' movies recapped in 7 minutes: Watch!

Pop quiz, PopWatchers: You live on the East Coast and you’ve got roughly nine hours to go until the midnight screenings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2. You haven’t seen the first seven flicks (or, you have, and just want to watch them all over again), and you’d need roughly 14 hours in order to catch up. What do you do? WHAT DO YOU DO?

Why, you watch this ever-so-helpful YouTube video created by the Fine Brothers, of course. In just seven minutes, the online sketch comedy team, decked out in Potter-inspired gear, catch everyone up to speed on the epic saga. (I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure this is the plot of Source Code?)

Benny and Rafi Fine, whose fast-talking skills rival the FedEx guy, impressively — and hilariously — give the gist of a very detailed decade-long story by explaining key terms (a Muggle is a “non-magic folk, duh!”), sharing common criticisms (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is “the [most] pointless movie in the series”) and bringing up some confusing twists (why did the evil Slytherin house even exist in the first place?!). We’re going to watch this vid a few more times as a helpful catch-up guide before the saga goes “Evanesco!” Watch the full clip below. READ FULL STORY »

'Glee' ousting three major cast members in season 4: Why this could work... and why it might not

Glee-Lea-Michele-Cory

I came to peace with the fact that Glee cast members Chris Colfer and Lea Michele wouldn’t be returning in season 4 after the season 2 finale, when Rachel mentioned to Kurt that she’d always wanted to move to New York City. (If that wasn’t an intentional seed for a spin-off, someone on the Glee creative team has a lot good ideas stored in their brains, probably on the same shelf where they’ve been keeping all of Tina’s plotlines.) While Ryan Murphy has made no spin-off announcement, this anticipation of what seems inevitable helped soften the blow when it was made official yesterday that the duo and Cory Monteith’s Finn Hudson would not be returning after next season. (But, to be fair, we were also officially warned about this.)

What has surprised me has been the reaction from fans, who seem split on the issue. In one corner, you have the devotees who, burnt by the often lackluster second season, laud the turn-over, saying it could be a new beginning for the show. EW commenter Swarles Barkley (that’s a pretty amazing name) said, “This would actually cause me to come back to this show. I stopped watching about a quarter of the way through the second season. There was no real direction and the main characters became so annoying.” READ FULL STORY »

Melanie LaPatin on 'So You Think You Can Dance': Falling for Sasha and Alexander

Melanie_LaPatin_1

Has it really been a week since I blogged last? No, I mean, has it ONLY been a week?! The last few days alone have been such a blur that half the time I thought I oughta have my eyes checked! That’s because, as you probably know by now, I was in Canada last week working on So You Think You Can Dance there (the couple Tony and I choreographed made it onto the “hot tamale train”!), and in L.A. this week working on our home-grown version!

Sooo… the challenge for me this go-’round hasn’t been just to find the time to organize my thoughts to write this blog, but also to make sure that, after this whirlwind, I could still think, period! Haha! All kidding aside, it’s been busy, but it’s been exciting, too. And a little tense, because, after all, we ARE down to the Top 12 now, PLUS this was the first week that the dancers had to perform not one but two numbers ON TOP of their group number. So, determined as they were to put their game faces on, they were exhausted, emotionally and physically.

How did they do? Let’s see. Bearing in mind that 1) it turns out it is HARD to take notes during the show! and 2) it’s even harder for me to be impartial about dancers once I’ve met them and worked with them and seen firsthand just how sweet and adorable and talented they are, I AM going to be honest, brutally if need be, my picks for the Top 4 performances this week are: READ FULL STORY »

Emmy noms: Who do YOU think got snubbed?

The 63rd annual Emmy Award nominations are out, and while it’s easy to be happy for all of The Chosen, it’s even easier to launch into full-on HOW DARE THEY mode when some of your favorite shows and stars get snubbed. Among this year’s oversights: NBC’s hilarious Community for best comedy series, AMC’s The Walking Dead for best drama, and Fringe‘s John Noble for best supporting actor.

Lynette Rice and James Hibberd’s grouse list is here, but we want to know which shows and stars YOU think got snubbed this year. Your feedback will help guide us as we roll out this summer’s EW.com Snubby Awards for the 10 top categories, listed below. Keep in mind that Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter tweeted Wednesday, “If we get any Emmy noms I’ll tattoo EMMYS RULE on my a**.” Perhaps he made an egregious typo and really meant “If we win any EW.com Snubbies.” I’m sure that is what happened.

My most overwhelming personal nominations for Snubbies are for the supporting actor categories: READ FULL STORY »

'Home Alone' actor Roberts Blossom passes away. We bless this highly nutritious microwavable macaroni and cheese dinner in his honor.

Some seriously sad news: Roberts Blossom — the character actor best known for playing the wrongly-accused South Bend Shovel Slayer, a.k.a. “Old Man Marley,” in Home Alone — has passed away at the age of 87. The L.A. Times reports that Blossom died of natural causes in a nursing home in Santa Monica.

While Blossom, a three-time Obie Award winner, had an illustrious career on stage and screen that spanned 40 years (he was featured in films like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Always, Christine, and the cult horror movie Deranged, and appeared in TV shows such as Moonlighting, Northern Exposure, and Chicago Hope) he’ll best be remembered by younger folk everywhere as the neighbor who saves Macaulay Culkin’s trouble-making Kevin McCallister from being murdered by the Wet Bandits. (Oh, if only he’d been there when Thomas Jay stumbled upon that beehive… ) READ FULL STORY »

Comic-Con

Comic-Con is chockablock with panels and presentations and Q&A’s and autograph signings. It can all get a bit confusing — check out the full schedule here if you don’t believe us. To guide you through next week’s geekfest, we’ve put all the big TV and movie presentations from the massive Hall H and Ballroom 20 rooms in one place. We’ll be talking about some of the less-hyped hidden-gems of Comic-Con later this week, but consider this your guide to what people will be talking about on Twitter, hour-by-hour.  READ FULL STORY »

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is basically naked in a new Burberry ad

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will probably never win an Oscar, at least to judge by her pouting non-performance in the latest Michael Bay robo-stravaganza, which I believe was called Transformers: Dark of the Moon River Wider Than a Mile. But to be fair, Charles Laughton did win an Oscar, and for all of Charles Laughton’s incredible acting talent, no one ever begged Charles Laughton to pose for an advertisement wearing nothing but a trenchcoat. But that’s exactly what Huntington-Whiteley has done in a new campaign for Burberry Body. (Check out a full-sized image here.) I have no idea what Burberry Body is, but I’ll buy several, please! This Week's Cover: 'The Amazing Spider-Man' -- plus, our annual Comic-Con preview!

Spidey’s back! Well, almost. The Amazing Spider-Man doesn’t hit theaters for another year, but in anticipation of next week’s Comic-Con (July 21-24 in San Diego) we’ve got first looks at and inside scoops about the webslinger’s highly anticipated return — including interviews with stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone and with director Marc Webb. EW can also exclusively confirm that Rhys Ifans will be playing Doc Conners, who, in an experiment gone wrong, transforms into one of Spider-Man’s most formidable foes ever, the Lizard.

Four years after Spider-Man 3, starring Tobey Maguire, The Amazing Spider-Man promises to be a “more contemporary,” “more gritty,” and “more character-driven” look at the comic book hero. He’s a hero the 27-year-old Garfield knows well. Growing up, “I related to Peter Parker [Spidey’s alter ego] so much because I felt like someone else inside,” he says. “I loved the comic books and the animated TV series and I even dressed up as Spider-Man as a kid.” READ FULL STORY »

'Rescue Me': How should it all end for Tommy Gavin this season?

Categories: Made Us Think, Rescue Me

Rescue Me‘s Tommy Gavin is, to say the least, a flawed man. Alcoholic, egomaniac, cheater — take your pick. He has messed up, he is messed up, and he often takes responsibility for other’s mess-ups. (Also, Sandra, the word is called “mistake”…but it lacks impact.) Often on television, the only escape from such a murky past and dark existence is death. But I really don’t want Tommy to die at the end of the series, which begins its seventh and final season tonight. And I don’t think he will. It’d be the wrong message to send an audience who tuned in to a show about the post-9/11 world of a group of firefighters.  READ FULL STORY »
