There’s just something about the United States women’s soccer team, which will be competing against Japan for the Women’s World Cup title on Sunday at 2:45pm Eastern time. They certainly have a flair for the dramatic — tying Brazil in extra time to extra time and then winning on penalty kicks, plus scoring with just over 10 minutes left to take down France. However, it’s not just that they are winning, but the attitude they bring while doing it. The team is bursting with personalities, making their games the most entertaining TV around. With her bottle-blonde new wave haircut, Megan Rapinoe (who set up the final goals in each of the past two games) looks like she could be a keytar player for Flock of Seagulls. When she scored a goal of her own against Colombia, Rapinoe even grabbed a field microphone and started belting out “Born in the USA.” How much do you love that? Abby Wambach — who has saved the U.S. with two key goals on headers — is like Ripley in the Alien movies, destroying anything that dares to get in her path. But the woman I cannot take my eyes off of is goalie Hope Solo. READ FULL STORY »

Justin Timberlake says 'yes' to the Marine Corps Ball. He might go!

The floodgates are officially open. If you’re in the military, a celebrity will accompany you to the sock hop. Following his Friends With Benefits co-star Mila Kunis, who agreed to attend the Marine Corps Ball with Sgt. Scott Moore, Justin Timberlake accepted an invitation from servicewoman Kelsey De Santis (watch it here) while at a press conference for the film. He’ll go…provided his schedule will allow it. He said yes! It’s just that yes means maybe sometimes. Also: No means no, and benevolent acts of dateness means that perhaps someone’s got a big movie coming out! We’ll be sure to brief you daily about where Justin Timberlake might be on Nov. 12.
Ha! When asked why he made a military woman squeal, Timberlake said, “I don’t get asked out. Ever. So I was very flattered by that.” Whatever, Justin Timberlake!

Twitter to Jerry Seinfeld: 'Hello... Jerry.'

What’s the deal with Jerry Seinfeld waiting so long to join Twitter, you ask? Well, Question Asker, maybe you should just be thankful he’s here. Only a few months ago, the 57-year-old comedian told The New York Times that he had no plans to drop 140 or fewer on us, calling it “stand-up with a net.” Jerry seems to have changed his tune, but he hasn’t totally changed his tone, as his first two tweets were laced with playful reluctance: “Greetings, Tweetarians! I have just landed on your Planet. This could be my last Tweet.” And: “Second Tweet! Am I done yet?”
The Twitterverse didn’t take long to take notice: Jerry is currently trending, and he has already amassed more than 35,000 followers since he began tweeting three hours ago. Could it be mere minutes before we read GOLD, Jerry, GOLD? We are breathlessly sitting by. And if Seinfeld winds up enjoying his social networking experience, perhaps he can persuade his buddy Larry David to join! (Cut to: this never happening.) So, how do you feel about Seinfeld finally churning out some sweet tweets? And is there one comedian that you’ve been hoping will join Twitter?
Hugh Grant talks to EW about his role in the 'News of the World' phone hacking scandal: 'They hacked me, I hacked him'
There are many remarkable, tragic, and history-making strands to the News of the World phone hacking scandal which continues to dominate British public life more than a week after it was announced that the Rupert Murdoch-owned, 168-year-old paper would close. Just today came the news that senior Murdoch executive and former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks has resigned because of the furore surrounding the title, which stands accused of hacking the phones of thousands of people, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Sienna Miller, Jude Law, and a 13-year-old murder victim named Milly Dowler. And yesterday, the New York Times reported that the FBI has a opened a preliminary inquiry into allegations that the News of the World attempted to gain access to the phone records of victims of the Sept. 11 attacks. Murdoch has also publicly apologized for “serious wrongdoing” in a written ad which is being placed in several British newspapers this weekend.
The most unlikely plotline in this complex saga is the involvement of Hugh Grant, who over the past few months has emerged as one of the most high profile critics of the Murdoch organization. READ FULL STORY »
Matthew Morrison in 'What to Expect...' with Cameron Diaz, but we don't expect to see her on 'Glee'

Glee star Matthew Morrison has joined the star-filled cast of What to Expect When You’re Expecting. Lionsgate confirms he’ll play a character named Evan, who is partnered with a woman named Jules (Cameron Diaz) on a celebrity dance show. The two fall in love, and Jules becomes pregnant. I’m sure we’ll see commercials for the film airing during Glee when the time comes. But will we see Cameron Diaz guest star on the show? Here are three reasons, off the top of our head, we hope not. Rhys Darby and Sasha Alexander star in 'Coming & Going' -- will you watch?
Rhys Darby was a fan-favorite when he played the earnestly clueless Australia-hating band manager Murray on Flight of the Conchords, and the lovely Sasha Alexander has definitely made a name for herself with NCIS and Rizzoli & Isles. Still, will their presence be enough to garner a Friday night audience for TNT’s rom-com Coming & Going? Watch below as Darby’s clueless OB/GYN does his best to woo Alexander by pretending to be handicapped. READ FULL STORY »
'Lost' actor Doug Anthony Hutchinson and teen bride Courtney Stodden talk to 'GMA'. So this is love?
During their oh-so-unsettling appearance on Good Morning America on Friday (they were doing this to try and help their image, correct?) Lost actor Doug Anthony Hutchinson and his 16-year-old wife, aspiring model/singer Courtney Stodden wanted us to know their love is as real as her “head to toe … R-I-double L” body. And not only are they rilly, rilly in love (the two claim their courtship began online, which was monitored by her mother), but Hutchinson is really just “51 going on 21.” (You’re getting warmer, guys!)
Of course, that wasn’t reason enough for some of the people closest to Hutchinson. While Stodden’s family gave their blessing, Hutchinson’s mother and brother have cut ties, as well as his manager and agent, who have dropped him as a client since the wedding. And despite harsh words from the Internet, death threats, and Stodden having to leave high school because she was being bullied about her looks, the couple are going to power through while they shop around for a reality series and Hutchinson writes — wait for it — a children’s book series.
You can watch the full clip below, in which Stodden tells Lara Spencer how marrying Hutchinson would be nothing more than a convenient “blessing” to help her career, and Hutchinson explains how he didn’t go to jail for their relationship. Now, some fair warning, PopWatchers: You can’t un-see the faces Stodden makes at Hutchinson from 4:48-4:57, so view at your own risk. READ FULL STORY »
