'Glee' actor Darren Criss in talks to replace Daniel Radcliffe in 'How to Succeed in Business'

Glee star Darren Criss is in talks to succeed Daniel Radcliffe as the lead in the Broadway musical revival How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, according to Criss’ rep. (Deadline first reported the news.) If a deal is struck, Criss would replace the Harry Potter star — who plays the corporate ladder-climbing J. Pierrepont Finch — during a three-week stint from Jan. 3 to Jan. 22. As a result, Criss would reportedly miss shooting an episode and a half of Glee.

Before playing Glee‘s gay heartthrob Blaine Anderson, Criss first garnered attention in 2009 thanks to the Harry Potter parody A Very Potter Musical. Criss co-wrote the music and lyrics while attending the University of Michigan, and starred (and sang) as the titular teenage wizard. Once the stage musical was posted on YouTube, it became a viral smash. And so, in a roundabout way, the 24-year-old actor is particularly qualified to take over for Radcliffe, who’ll return to making movies once his commitment to How to Succeed in Business ends in January. Criss can next be seen in Glee: The 3D Concert Movie, which hits theaters on Aug. 12.

'Castle' star Stana Katic to voice Talia al Ghul in 'Batman: Arkham City' -- EXCLUSIVE PHOTO

Categories: Castle, Comic-Con, Videogames

EW can exclusively confirm that Stana Katic, best known for playing Detective Kate Beckett on ABC’s Castle, will voice the character of Talia al Ghul in the upcoming video game Batman: Arkham City, the follow-up to 2009′s much-beloved Batman: Arkham Asylum. There’s no word yet on how Talia will figure into the game’s storyline. In the comics, Talia is the frequently conflicted daughter of Ra’s al Ghul, one of Batman’s archenemies. In spite of this, Talia is often a love interest for the Dark Knight. The two even get married at one point, with Talia giving birth to Batman’s son, Damian Wayne. Check out an exclusive photo of the character below:  READ FULL STORY »

'Captain America' premiere screening at Comic-Con: On the scene!

Categories: Avengers, On the Scene

As previously announced, Captain America: The First Avenger is holding a day of preview screenings at the UA Horton Plaza in San Diego — just a hop, skip, and a jump from Comic-Con, which is otherwise pretty low on new Marvel Studios fun. At the special 10 a.m. fan screening for Captain America, attendees were treated to a special performance by a gaggle of USO-style dancers dressed in red, white, and blue. They were performing a 1940′s-style song about a “Star-Spangled Man” that actually plays in the movie while Captain America is zooming around the country shilling for war bonds. Obviously, selling a film using patriotism is an incredibly thorny moral quandary and opens up a whole host of ethical questions about movie salesmanship, which is exactly what I’m mumbling to myself while I’m getting my picture taken with the USO girls. Hilarity, thy name is Jim Meskimen

Fifty-eight lines of dramatic Shakespearean text, delivered in 24 famous celebrity voices, expertly imitated in four minutes of YouTube footage by one side-splitting, hyper-observant celebrity impersonator. You could take the time to crunch the numbers, but we’d recommend that you just hit “Play” and be amazed instead.

'Covert Affairs': Are Auggie and Annie the new Booth and Brennan, Castle and Beckett -- only less frustrating?

Christopher-Gorham

On this week’s Covert Affairs, we learned more than our individual tolerance of jazz when Auggie traveled to Istanbul for a music festival, and how convenient it was that he made friends with a trusting, game, forward flight attendant who could help him track the traitor/terrorist who blinded him with a bomb in Iraq in 2007. We found out that Auggie had never told anyone what happened with his special forces unit until he spilled all to Annie over a round (or two, or three) of beer. That end scene reminded me of something we’d see on Bones, which made me wonder if Auggie and Annie are my new Booth and Brennan. I thought back to a recent conversation with Christopher Gorham, who said that while most fans he’s heard from want Auggie and Annie together at some point, the majority of them are for waiting. “[T]hey agree with me that if that’s going to happen, it needs to happen a long, long time from now,” he said. “Most of what makes those pairings so much fun is the potential, the flirting, the missed opportunities. That’s what’s so exciting. If you go there too soon, you let the air out of the balloon.”

As someone who’s seen every episode of Bones with six seasons of sexual tension that needed to be acted on, watching a series that allows you to enjoy some chemistry but not feel the desire to force it is just so… pleasant. Because Covert Affairs doesn’t revolve around their relationship alone, what with Annie usually out in the field and Auggie at his desk, we accept that their friendship will naturally deepen at a slower pace.  READ FULL STORY »
