Pulling off a hat is no small feat (especially if you are wearing a giant hat to say, the Kentucky Derby or making a, uh, statement, at the Royal Wedding.) Not only does it have to feel good, but most importantly, it has to look good. Some people, however, just look better in hats than others. For the record, PopWatchers, I do not look good in hats. If you place one atop my big, curly hair, I mostly wind up looking like Krusty the Clown.
Harrison Ford, however, looks awesome in hats. In fact, the guy practically made hats. (Side note: Harrison Ford has never actually made hats, but that would make for one amazing episode of Project Runway, would it not?!) Even Ford himself is aware of the important role hats have played in his movies. During the Q&A for the current EW cover story about his latest, the action adventure flick, Cowboys & Aliens, Ford admitted he was picky about which hats his character would wear. The actor explained to EW, “I would reject them without even putting them on. I said, ‘This guy wouldn’t wear this hat. If I put that hat on, I don’t know who this guy is.’” As his director Jon Favreau put it, “The hat chooses the actor. It’s like in Harry Potter. The hat found him.”
So imagine our delight when he heard that Ford could once again be faced with the prospect of wearing more hats! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ford will star as an aging Wyatt Earp in the upcoming big screen adaptation of Black Hats. Ford’s reps did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
That’s right, a movie with a hat for Ford right there in the title. While Ford won’t necessarily be playing a hat-wearing cowboy like he does in Cowboys & Aliens (in Black Hats, the 69-year-old will chronicle Earp’s later years as a private detective and movie consultant in Los Angeles), it could still join his long lineage of awesome Ford/hat pairings. Think about it: Indiana Jones’ fedora is the most iconic hat in cinema, and Ford’s John Book even made an Amish hat look cool in Witness. Then again, Ford looks awfully fine sans hat on our cover and needed no lid accompaniment to play Dr. Richard Kimble (just a bad-ass beard, thanks) or Han Solo.
But what do you think, PopWatchers? Is Harrison Ford better with or without a hat? Which kind of hat should he try next? (I vote stovepipe!)

Sombrero
He’s fine with or without. But he looks superhot with a hat… Can’t wait for Cowboys and Aliens!
COOL
I don’t care how old he gets, he’s still hot, with or without the hats.
Is this like Wyatt Earp 2?
A San Francisco Giants hat!
… I vote either or … LOVE Harrison!!! Best looking in all of Hollywood, better than Tom and Brad together … Harrison has always been my favorite actor!!!
How about putting him in a Sherlock Holms move … not as Holms or Watson but another character …
Either way! Harrison Ford makes anything look good, whether it’s a terrible Star Wars haircut, a serious beard, a fedora, an amish straw hat, or a cowboy hat. He will always be my favorite. Excited for Black Hats!
OH, he did look pretty silly in that navy baseball cap in Sabrina, for any fans of that movie.
