During his appearance on Piers Morgan Tonight Monday, Maher told the CNN host, “I never say anything purposefully to piss people off. But I say what I feel, and that will piss a lot of people off.” That could be an understatement. On Friday night, Maher used Real Time to address the controversial Casey Anthony verdict — and compare Republican voters to the much-aligned jurors in the case. Speaking about Republican tax policy, and how it affects the middle class (a demographic that makes up a large faction of votes for the party), Maher said, “[Half of U.S. voters] say, ‘I’m with the party that cuts all these programs for real people, for the 99 percent. Planned Parenthood, environmental protection, college, health care, infrastructure, but holds the line on private jets.’ Voting for them is as stupid as voting not guilty for the mom who lost her baby for a month and went looking at a wet t-shirt contest.”
But, as expected of Maher, the comedian only had more to say about the party who he claimed on Real Time “got on the short bus to crazytown” during his Piers Morgan tonight appearance last night. When given the option between Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann for the 2012 GOP candidate, Maher at first said he hoped the two would “split the MILF vote” before opting for the Minnesota congresswoman. “At least she’s somebody who could read,” he said. As for whether or not Palin could actually get elected, Maher voted, “Absolutely.” After all, he said, there was a time when the majority thought actor-turned-president Ronald Reagan was a joke.
At this point, Maher has unleashed so many controversial comments during his career (remember those 9/11 comments on Politically Incorrect?) that it’s hard to imagine that anyone in the conservative party would find themselves offended by his words over the past week. (If the comedian insults Republicans in the middle of a Tea Party convention, does he make a sound?) Personally, I’m more taken aback about his comments regarding his strong libido. TMI, my friend. Either way, the Real Time host’s comments have led to several headlines (like this one), so seems he’s getting the biggest laugh out of his own comments. See video of his Casey Anthony statements and his Piers Morgan Tonight appearance below.

LOVE Bill Maher
Me too. He’s very full of himself but I find myself agreeing with him much more that disagreeing.
Barb and Emjay your both the C-word…It’s ok I’m a comedian..
never thought much of this fool to begin with but now i can truely say that i will never watch any show he is on.how anyone could critisize the republican party while our country is going down the toilet at the hands of obama is just so far beyond me.
Because the Republicans are the ones who flushed the toilet.
EXCELLENT!
And out pooped a liberal….You C-words…It’s ok I’m a comedian..
Haha! Bill Maher rules!
The Republicans put our country in the toilet and refuse to help get it out.
From George Washington to George Bush America went in the so called toilet 16 trillion dollars..I three years Obama has added 16 more trillion…Explaine the toilet theroy…
Because it is the conservative policies that put us in this awful position.
It was the awful policies of BOTH parties that got us into the toilet. To everyone who is picking a side: WAKE UP! Both parties are out to drop your pants around your ankles and bend you over. It’s the kind of wine and music they use on you that you’re arguing about.
@roekest – best description I’ve heard in a long time! Well played!
Obama is simply attempting to put band aids on the gapping wounds left by Bush/Cheneyand their economy ruining and pointless wars as well as their giving permission to corporate America to go ahead and plunder the US Treasury! You are such a putz! Think about it fool! Clinton years…surplus. Bush years…..surplus gone, trillions spent. Obama years…..forced into doing nothing but attempt to correct the Bush foolishness!
It probably doesn’t take much for something to be “so far beyond you”
I think you need to take a long, unflinching look in the mirror and ask yourself the following question: “Am I too stupid to have an opinion”
Haha! We have a winner.
truly not truely, again with the spelling
Tricky, you are a moron.
tricky=brain-dead amnesiac Republican who conveniently forgets it was 8 years of Bush that got us in this awful mess. Maybe you can skip the next Teabaggers meeting and instead use that time to study the dictionary so you can learn the correct spelling of words like ‘truly’ and ‘criticize’. Perhaps then you won’t come off as such an idiot.
uhh… baby doll, Republicans left a large piece of turd after eight years. The Pres. is doing a fine job cleaning up their crap in what is a relatively short time. BTW, I was once a registered R but switched to Independence… because both your parties often cater to the loud minority. At this point, I think President Obama is doing the best that he can with a Republican party that is hellbent on making the economy worse in order to get one of their own in office. Bleh.
Your viewing will not be missed…SO go ahead and go back to watching Fixed Newz …OH You might wanna TiVo as much as you can before Murdochs Empire comes crashing down !! BUSTED!!! RIGHT WINGERS….Wire Tapping Invasion of privacy. Sounds like the good ole right wing . The party of freedom? NOT!
tricky, I can tell you’re not a regular viewer of Maher, or you’d know that he gets on Obama’s case on a regular basis.
Wow, I think I’m in awe of the intellect who cannot spell the word “truly”
You are a total idiot. There are none so blind as those that will not see. there are none so deaf as those that refuse to hear. Go take a civics course at school. Maybe you want the mayhem of the 60s back again.
are you serious? Do forget why the democrats were elected? do you forget which party put the country in the hole to begin with? Its not the democrats fault we’re struggling to get out of a hole the republicans put us in.
Bill Maher is great. He calls it like he sees it. Republicans complain that he is harsh on them, however he doesn’t hold back on criticizing the Dems either.
Why did you fail to mention that he calls out the left just as often?
sorry Vince. Comment was meant for Jason
Maher definitely doesn’t play favorites. He calls out the Dems on a regular basis. The conservatives think Maher is ultra-liberal, but he’s really just anti-stupidity, so basically all politicians are fair game for him.
Love Bill Maher. Someone not afraid to call out the right for the garbage they spew into American culture. (Well, I have to make it fit, this is EW, after all, not a political site).
But, yeah, Bill Maher is 100% correct.
Bill is smart, and isn’t afraid to tell the truth even if it offends people.
please define smart for me
Maher is a douchebag.
Yes, but he is a CORRECT douchebag.
Some of the time…..
How could anyone support or “love” a creep that gets away with calling America cowards ane terrists brave……. sicko human being
Because he is usally right, thats how
The Maher morons are out in force today
Yet you probably love Limbaugh, who has done worse.
@hubcap THAT’S NOT WHAT HE SAID YOU IDIOT, YOU ARE INCORRECTLY PARAPHRASING HIS ORIGINAL COMMENT.
How csn you call someone Mr. President who ignored a warning Bin Laden will attack using planes inside USA..And then go invade the wrong country…I would call him a Traitor..Bush should be called at the least a Felon.. Even though the right wing people are clearly wrong we should not stoop to there level by calling them names..Let them keep proving how out of touch they are. They clearly do not need our help .
sorry …meant can not csn
Also remember that Bush’s Saudi cronies were the only ones allowed to fly in the days after 9/11. Cheney reaps in millions as Halliburton profits off these useless wars. Talk about pallin’ around with terrorists. And America stupidly continues to beg for more of the same.
so if the republicans PUT us in the toilet, then what have the democrats been doing for the past several years? seems to be they have been building condos there. give me a break. it sure is convenient to continue to blame the republicans when the democrats are making the mess a million times worse. yup, things sure are GREAT in my neck of the woods. i think what we need is MORE government and higher taxes!!! whoo hoo!! in fact, why doesn’t uncle sam just cut me a check directly for what he thinks is enough for me to live on? let’s just cut out the middle man and let all our money go straight to the government because surely they know what is best for me.
uhm…. have you even been paying attention to what has happened in Washington over these past couple years? The Republicans have basically ROADBLOCKED every attempt to get the economy under control.
It’s people like you who worry me about this country
How is it “a million” times worse exactly?
Actually we do need more taxes and a stronger Fed Gov to protect us from greedy corps. And by the way paying your taxes is the most patriotic thing a person can do…And dont say serving in the military is more . Its not because not everyone can serve but everyone can pay taxes.
A majority of the Republican party is a joke – it’s all too easy for comedians to point out the insanity of the far Right. The sad thing is that Maher’s comments aren’t that crazy – it’s a fire with fire scenerio. Sanity (Maher) vs. insanity (far Right).
A majority of our government is a joke
I don’t think you meant the jurors were “much-aligned.” (But I love you anyway and know what you meant!)
OMG good catch!
Even though “aligned” was not intended, it is correct in that they were aligned for acquittal.
Bill Maher is like an empty can – makes alot of noise – CNN has been losing viewers and Piers has gon off the Pier – As Mr. Morgan if if Mr maher would even pass the America Got Talent Judges – CNN is Liberal Mouth Piece – I dare Mr Morgan to have a Michael Savage or even a Johh Gambling some conservative view point – but that’s why cnn ratings are so loooooooooooooooooooo
He should have Savage (real name Wiener…hmmm) and Maher together.
Michael Savage cant even spell CNN . Just so you know Savage has been invited to multiple left wing talk shows but has not been on years. Why ? He knows he would be caught in lie after lie.
It always seems like the most commented posts on EW are ones about politics.
That’s because the only people who like to hear their own opinons more than Conservatives are Liberals.
And I dare you to learn that “alot” is not a word. It is 2 words Einstein
Unlike the majority of this country, Bill Maher knows a JOKE (Sarah Palin) when he sees one. The republicans are the party of lousy candidates (and presidents) and even lousier ideas.
I respect Maher for the fact he just says what he feels, no matter who it ticks off, but do feel he puts everyone in the GOP in the same level as the Tea Partiers when the fact is I know a lot of Republicans who think the Tea Party beliefs are a total joke and agree the current Republicans are more “go after Obama” than helping the country.
Glenn Beck says what he feels do you respect that nut case also?
I might not agree with everything Maher says, but I really admire his candor! He’s got the balls that everyone else seems to be lacking….
I’m not a member of any political party. I actually agree with Maher sometimes. I’m just not a Progressive. I don’t think it doesn anything to just shovel money into social programs. We need to remind people about personal responsibility. But, I agree with him that SOME government agencies aren’t bad, like the EPA, and we can’t have UNREGULATED capitalism. And, it’s insane that most companies pay such low ACTUAL tax rates.
Social programs like Medicaid, Planned Parenthood, and Head Start cost now but save much more in the long run. A major study recently released by Harvard found that if people have access to programs like these, there are largely positive ramifications on individual productivity and the larger economic picture. It’s also quite well run and efficient, contrary to what our corporate media says. That’s why Nana and Gramps would never trade their Medicare for the Ponzi scheme that is for-profit Healthcare.
