Ricky,
I loved the Office because of the idiosyncratic nature of humanity it portrayed so vividly, and the fact that you wrestled each week with the tension of cringing at David Brent the dweeb, and being moved by his vulnerability and desire to be liked. We are surely all at some place on that spectrum. Extras moved me too as well as making me laugh, a lot. The scene where whatsisface is at the prayer meeting, and he starts to clap…. gets me every time. But it is about what is real in human relationships, and i have seldom seen a more moving bit of tele than in the final big brother scene of the special…. and not just moving, it made me think about what i take for granted. I am staying with Life is Short. I dont mind that hasnt made me laugh much yet (apart from Warick climbing the bookcase!), but i am still waiting for the pathos rather than the slapstick, a relationship or a character i can believe in and recognise. But thanks for what you do, it has made me laugh a lot…. and we can all be a twonk occasionally, you just get to do it publicly! Cheers
thank you!!!
you and Stive make my life so much better.
Some interesting influences Rickie. Real life ‘situation’ makes the best comedy. I can watch it over and over. Lovely characters, Tim and Garath are superb.
Comedy genius! I remember when The Office first come on tv I thought it was real lol
“Sitcom”? The Office goes well beyond that silly label.
I love The Office! You know what else I love, Stephen Merchant. It would have been nice to give him some props in this piece.
