We’re becoming increasingly impatient, PopWatchers: There’s still 14 excruciatingly long days until 2011′s Comic-Con kicks off. Of course, that’s small peanuts compared to the seemingly impossibly far off release dates of the most highly-anticipated flicks of 2012. Granted, we don’t know which of these geek out-worthy films will be making their way to San Diego (The Hunger Games, for one, has already announced it will not attend the convention), but that doesn’t mean we’re not already overly eager for what’s ahead.
Just like us, EW.com readers went absolutely crazy over the stills for Peter Jackson’s treatment of The Hobbit, so we can only imagine the hysteria that will surround the entire film itself. Of course, when it comes to mania, the countdown to the conclusion of the Twilight saga (Breaking Dawn — Part 2) and the beginning of The Hunger Games may not be rivaled. But tell us, PopWatchers, is it the reboots of beloved franchises (Superman: Man of Steel, The Amazing Spider-Man), follow-ups (The Dark Knight Rises, Men in Black 3) or Bond, Bond 23, that has you the most stoked for the new year?
Patience, you are one tricky virtue. Vote in our poll below, and head to our Comic-Con hub for all things related to the convention come July 20!

No brainer with TDKR.
It really doesn’t matter. I want to see all of the movies…um…except Twilight and Men In Black. Twilight can just die for all I care. Men In Black can just be erased from existence.
My hatred for the Twilight Saga has morphed. I now stop and watch it any time on cable, because I’m gauranteed to get a laugh out of it. There are so many bad lines, expressions, acting that it’s watched a parody/comedy now.
HELLO????? Why isn’t Star Trek 2 listed????
Probably because principal photography hasn’t even started. I won’t doubt that Star Trek 2 gets pushed off until Summer 2013. The original was supposed to have been a Christmas release but was postponed until that following Summer.
I’ll probably see 7 out of the 9 listed (Twilight and MIB dont care) but Nolan can’t do no wrong with me. He will go out with a BANG. The hobbit is my 2nd choice.
No, it is a complete “brainer” that The Hobbit is the most interesting film coming out next year. TDK was overpraised and the new film already seems overstuffed and convoluted.
An astute observation considering no one outside of Team Nolan or WB has seen a shred of film!
TDK was overpraised? Are you kidding? It is one of the best movies of the 2000s.
Without Ledger as the Joker, the movie isn’t all that special.
It’s a good thing they had Ledger as the Joker then. They really dodged a bullet there.
Here’s a thought, how about we just look forward to both???
I would normally say The Dark Knight Rises, but I had to go with The Hobbit.
Agreed. Also, I’m kind of worried about Bane being the villain in TDKR. He’s not someone from Bat’s rogue gallery that I would have chosen to base a movie on
Most people wouldn’t have chosen Heath Ledger as the Joker either. I’d say Nolan has earned our trust by now! That said, I’m pretty excited for both The Hobbit and TDKR. My inner geek would probably tell me that I’m more excited for The Hobbit though lol
Same here. Kind of hesitated between Dark Knigt Rises and The Hobbit, but went with the Hobbit just because I am in love with Lord of the Rings right now.
Seriously, who voted for Men in Black?
yeah, how dare someone have a differing opinion
and MCS just shared theirs. what’s so wrong with that?
You bet you are!
What are you two doing? I am stunned. “She had something in her eye?” My eye she did.
Jaden or Willow.
I’d vote for MIB over Twilight any day.
I mean I would too, but those aren’t the only options, if they were we’d be in for a HORRIBLE 2012 movie lineup
Should have been re-titled men with gray hair.
Must have been Will or Jada, nobody else cares about this project.
I wanna see it. Sue me.
All due respect to ‘Avengers’, Supes, Spidey, ‘Twilight’, ‘James Bond’ and ‘Hobbit’ but ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ will OWN 2012!!!
I could almost say that The Hobbit doesn’t belong just because how late in the year it will be released.
Wow, I had no idea all of these movies were coming in 2012.
I think it’s a tie between The Avengers and Spider-Man. Avengers, b/c I’m curious to see what Joss Whedon can do with the money and support from a big studio, and Spider-Man, since the original movies (specifically, the first 2) were such a big part of my childhood.
I have no doubt in my mind that Dark Knight Rises will be really good – possibly great – but I don’t believe it will top the first two; the Bane storyline will obviously be tweaked, since the third movie will probably end on a more positive note, therefore, it won’t have the same emotional punch.
Honestly, i think TDKR can EASILY top the first two movies. I think Nolan is going to deliver us the most dramatic batman yet. It will have an even better emotional punch than TDK. And for all we know, the movie could end on a bad note. I think this movie is going to be very unique and set the bar for other comic book movies really high.
That’s a good point; Nolan has done enough great work that I should give him the benefit of the doubt. If he does give that emotional punch, and if it’s on par (or builds) on the Dark Knight, it will be the best movie of the Summer, hands down.
Why do you want the movie to end on a bad note? That’s one of the few things I disliked about TDK. An emotional punch can also be positive.
I totally agree with you, emotional cliffhangers/scenes can absolutely be positive/happy ones, but I don’t think it would work with this final Nolan Batman. Most storylines were resolved one way or another in the past 2 movies; he can’t reclaim his lost love (she died last movie), he can’t vanquish Joker or Two-Face (because they won’t be in this movie), and, given the tone and events of the last movie, I think it would be too corny if Batman somehow won over the hearts and minds of Gotham in about 2 1/2 hours. Any sort of emotional punch would have to be first established and then resolved during the course of this (final) movie. That will be tough, especially considering people will compare it to TDK.
That’s why we’re saying something more dramatic (or not-happy) may be the best way (or only way) to build on the last movie, because it seems that it’s either that or an ultimate happy ending, which would not work. Bane makes it interesting, since in the comics he almost killed Batman; I’m not saying I need to see that, but they would have to somehow lend that storyline the gravity it deserves for the movie to be truly compelling. Doing that, and ending the franchise will be tough. Not that I doubt they’ll do it!
@Matt. As you stated, I definitely don’t expect Gotham to embrace Batman and give him a parade at the end. I just don’t want the film to end with Batman broken by Bane or still on the run.
Arrrggg…too…many…good…choices!
Jack Bauer would kick all those superhero asses!!! Bring on the 24 movie:)
I’m with you! I miss Jack!
Where’s Brave on this list? I’m geeking about that movie the most.
Where are John Carter and Brave?
My guess would be in “WHOCARESVILLE”??? Your mention of them is the first I’ve heard of them. And all the ones listed in the poll? Heard of them all. So my guess would be that if John Carter and Brave were on this poll, they’d have even less votes than MIBIII! lol
I’m super excited for The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers and Hunger Games…in that order!
Star Trek 2?
Agreed. Where is the next Star Trek movie?
In development hell
The Twilight movie does not deserve to stand on this list with the others…Geek-tastic? More like sorority girl and desperate housewives-tastic.
I am just reading The Hunger Games now and am really excited for the movies, but really The Dark Knight Rises will surely be the best release of the year, especially with the addition of Joseph Gordon-Levitt!
I am more Star Trek 2
