Yes. I thought I was going to see the Deer Hunter because it was up on the Marquis. When I got into the theater with a friend of mine we bought popcorn etc and sat down only to see a frightened Jamie lee Curtis and scary music. I said to my friend…”this doesn’t look like Deniro Flick” turned out it was the movie Halloween. We left and asked for our money back, but the theae owner would only give us a rain check! It was all pretty funny.

Quest For Fire is the only movie I’ve ever walked out of in 40 years.. And was given a refund.

I have only walked out of two movies — “Prizzi’s Honor” (because my friends wanted to leave, still want to give it a second chance one day on Netflix) and “The Informant” (sorry, Matt Damon fans, I just didn’t get it!) The only times I ever asked for refunds and received them was when the print of a movie was old or damaged.

Do give “Prizzi’s Honor” another chance. It has one of the most … I don’t know what word to use regarding its ending. Shocking? Unexpected? Anyway, I was like 18 when it came out and I went to see it by myself (which I like to do sometimes) and I had to just sit in the theater after the lights came up for like 10 minutes. It just really got me for some reason. Really good movie. “The Informant!” is a black comedy… not everyone’s cup of tea. But the exclamation point in the title shows its hand a little. I thought it was funny and Matt Damon was terrific.

ok, i just got done reading every single comment on here so i figured i’d post something. I’ve worked at a movie theater for nearly 5 years now and i get to see all the movies i want for free, even seeing them for free ive even thought about walking out on 2 movies…the first would be all about steve with sandra bullock that is the worst movie ever made period, and i want an apology for that piece of trash, second would be the last airbender from m night shymalan, I’ve been keeping track of every movie ive seen since January 2003 and i’ve seen nearly 900 movies since that time and i have to say i never ever hated any movies as bad as all about steve and last airbender, tho all about steve would be worse of the two

I walked out of The Cell…had graphic, nauseating images of a woman being tortured by a maniac and Jennifer Lopez analyizing his subconscious mind.

I also saw that and what freaked me out most was the family who brought their kids!

I walked out of 2 things that were not movies. One was “Pulp Fiction,” and on that occasion, I got a refund. I was sickened by the disgusting script, and at the scene where a man is casually murdered in the backseat of a car, I just could not stomach it anymore. I walked out and received a refund, and I am so very glad that I did walk out. I also left the thing called “breaking the waves” because I worked in rehabilitation medicine, and the story line was that it was OK to destroy someone else to cure paralysis – that is so perverse and wrong that I ran out, but I wanted to get away so fast that I could not wait for a refund.

Wow… you lasted a long time through “Pulp Fiction.” If you don’t like movies like that (which I guess are movies with graphic violence), I’m surprised you made it past the adrenaline shot to the heart. And the guy wasn’t exactly “casually murdered” he was *accidentally* murdered… but whatever. And by the way, that “disgusting script” won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay that year and the film won the Palme D’or at Cannes and was nominated for seven Academy Awards. I never realized that there were so many non-”Pulp Fiction” fans out there. It’s in my top 20 of all time.

I’ve never even walked out of a film, much less asked for a refund, and I never plan on doing so. I haven’t seen The Tree of Life yet, though it’s high on my must-watch list, but to those who are walking out, I think we can be pretty sure they’ve never seen one of Terrence Malick’s films. If you have, you pretty much know what to expect: a lot of long, deliberately-paced, introspective voice-overs, very limited dialogue and action and gorgeous imagery.

The walkouts for Tree of Life prove that America is devolving into a nation of ignorant philistines disinterested in art, whether it be cinema, literature or music. They want simple, dumb entertainment across the board. We are headed for the future of “Idiocracy” for sure

    • Squishmar

Aesthetics is dead for sure and has been for awhile now. America has never much been a fan of aesthetics but there’s hardly a trace left.

I walked out of The Tree of Life not because it was bad or not properly advertised or because I hadn’t done my research (I had) and it wasn’t what I expected, but because I appreciated the approach the movie was taking and the emotional weight of the content and just could not STAND the people plowing into their popcorn and drinks like pigs at a trough. Those boxes are endless … I was hoping they would run out at the speed they were working through those buckets, but after twenty minutes I couldn’t stand the noise they were making and walked out.

I didn’t ask for my money back.

I’ve never walked out of a movie before. Not even Transformers 2.
