Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' jacket sells for $1.8 million

The red and black leather jacket that Michael Jackson wore while dancing with the undead in the groundbreaking video for “Thriller” was sold for $1.8 million at auction on Sunday. Texas businessman and avid collector Milton Verret plans to display his latest acquisition at an Austin children’s hospital before sending it on tour to raise more money for children’s charities.
Jackson’s jacket, one of two that were worn in the music video, went for a substantial amount, but it’s only a fraction of some recent auction sales. Just last week, the flowing white dress that Marilyn Monroe wore during the subway-grate scene in The Seven Year Itch, was sold for a record $5.6 million. READ FULL STORY »
The 'Celebrity Rehab' season premiere reaffirms Dr. Drew's devotion to making you squirm

On last night’s premiere, former Baywatch kid Jeremy Jackson explained how he started using a whole galaxy of steroids in order to get fit for a comeback. ’80s movie icon Sean Young simply noted that she was an actor, and “Actors drink.” And then there’s Michael Lohan, a man who has created a curious career for himself as a pop culture bête noire, perpetually present at the scene of a tabloid train-wreck. (Remember when he was planning a show with best buddy Jon Gosselin called Divorced Dads Club?) READ FULL STORY »
Johnny Depp turns guitarist for Alice Cooper: Watch!

Johnny Depp joined Alice Cooper, who’s rumored to have a cameo in Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, on stage during an intimate show at London’s 100 Club Sunday night. Depp played guitar on “‘I’m Eighteen” and “School’s Out.” Cooper had tweeted that a surprise guest would be joining him, so cell phone cameras were at the ready. Watch a few fan-shot videos below for various angles. Two questions: Isn’t it funny that on stage with Alice Cooper is the most “normal” Depp has ever looked? And how many guitarists does Alice Cooper need? READ FULL STORY »
Johnny Knoxville pens online tribute to Ryan Dunn

At Wednesday’s memorial for Jackass star Ryan Dunn, who died last Monday in an alcohol-related car crash, Johnny Knoxville spoke about his friend and what the 34-year-old meant to the close-knit crew that found fame and fun in dangerous antics. But Knoxville was barely holding himself together at the podium, and he writes in an online tribute that “what came out were the mumblings of a man trying his best not to cry.”
In a post titled, “in memory of ryan, pt. 2 — from knoxville with love,” the Jackass ringleader writes:
“I felt 34-percent funnier when I was with Ryan, but I guess everyone did. He had such a hair trigger laugh reflex. He lived his life wanting to laugh and wanting you to laugh with him. READ FULL STORY »
Are Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn the next De Niro and Scorsese?

From John Ford and John Wayne, to Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, to Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale, there have been many great actor-director teams. Very quietly, a new one could be budding right before our eyes.
EW has confirmed that Ryan Gosling is negotiating to star in Only God Forgives, a crime thriller set in Bangkok and the third movie he and Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn plan to make together. (Variety first reported the story.) The only problem is that few people have seen a single film the pair has made. More specifically, most moviegoers in the U.S. haven’t seen any of Refn’s work yet. But with the news of the casting and the critical buzz around their first collaboration, Drive, picked up this May at Cannes, there might be some magic brewing between the two artists. Celluloid, smelluloid: New 'Spy Kids' film is... scented?
This summer, Spy Kids 4: All The Time In The World audiences will be treated to a fragrant new dimension during their cinematic experiences: smell. According to Dimension Films, the Aug. 19 reboot of Robert Rodriguez’s blockbuster kiddie series will be released with in ’4D’ – that is, with Aromascope olfactory enhancements. I can only hope this means the fourth Spy Kids movie finds junior spies Rebecca (Rowan Blanchard) and Cecil (Mason Cook) rescuing their loved ones from the clutches of an evil Italian restaurant owner and/or pastry chef. (No? The enemy is just a warlord? Fine.)
According to a press release from Dimension, each ticket sold will come with a Scratch ‘n Sniff-type scent card with eight numbered scents. The corresponding numbers will then be projected onscreen during the movie, letting viewers know when and what to, well, scratch and sniff. Is your inner 7-year-old giddy with anticipation? Mine, too. READ FULL STORY »
