Twelve years after he creeped us all out in The Sixth Sense, Haley Joel Osment is still seeing dead people. Only this time around, he’s using them as science projects.

Osment has signed on to star in Wake the Dead, one of Hollywood’s million-and-one upcoming adaptations of Mary Shelley’s classic horror story Frankenstein. In Wake the Dead, based on Steven Niles’ Frankenstein-themed graphic novels, he’s slated to play Victor Franklin, a college student morbidly experimenting with the limits of human death. Jay Russell (Tuck EverlastingLadder 49) has signed on to direct.

The last time many of us saw Osment, he was starring in family-friendly kiddie fare like Secondhand Lions and eagerly awaiting the arrival of puberty. READ FULL STORY »

Conan O'Brien and Jason Sudeikis get foot massages on television: We're tickled, too!

When Jason Sudeikis hosted the MTV Movie Awards earlier this month, he made quite a few people squirm (we’re guessing January Jones, especially), but the Horrible Bosses star took it to the next level when he visited Conan last night. Sudeikis recalled a recent interview with New York Magazine‘s Scott Brown, in which the two went to get reflexology done together. The SNL funnyman, knowing it is often way funnier to show than tell on a talk show (he also shared a hilarious, albeit unintentionally inappropriate voicemail he received from the government, as well as a scandalous picture he snapped of Kevin Spacey on the set of Horrible Bosses), brought out two foot masseurs (sorry, Andy!) to get the same thing done on television. Watch it all unfold around the 6:25 mark and try to keep it together as Coco loses it when his sensitive toes get touched. READ FULL STORY »

Who will she end up with? Vote in the poll below. Alicia Keys is headed to Broadway — as a producer. The Grammy winner has added her name to the fall premiere of Lydia R. Diamond’s critically-acclaimed play Stick Fly, which follows an affluent African-American family who come together for a summer weekend at their Martha’s Vineyard home. The adult sons — an aspiring novelist and a plastic surgeon — each bring their ladies (one black, one white) to meet the parents. “Food, drink and Trivial Pursuit tangle with class, race, and identity politics in this contemporary comedy of manners,” the synopsis promises.

“This is a story that everybody can relate to,” Keys says in a statement. “I’m passionate about this play because it is so beautifully written and portrays Black America in a way that we don’t often get to see in entertainment. I know it will touch all audiences, who will find a piece of themselves somewhere inside this house.”

Stick Fly, directed by Kenny Leon (Fences, A Raisin in the Sun), will open Dec. 8 at the Lyceum Theatre. Previews begin Nov. 18.

Who is the coolest Real Ghostbuster?

ghostbuster

There’s something weird. It don’t look good. Who you gonna call? Now, don’t just say “The Ghostbusters,” because thanks to some messy ’80s trademark laws, any old gang of supernatural investigators can name themselves after the iconic Marshmallow-exploding foursome who starred in 1984′s Ghostbusters. No, you don’t want any fake ghost-busters; you want The Real Ghostbusters, who starred in the cartoon series of the same name for seven proton pack-tastic seasons. The series’ title was later amended to Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters to reflect the increased importance of the chubby green ghoul. And that’s fine; when we were kids, we all loved Slimer. But kids are stupid, so let’s get down to brass tacks here: Who’s the coolest member of the Real Ghostbusters? READ FULL STORY »

'Exorcist' haunts commercial for devilish product

Categories: Advertising

A spooky house shrouded in fog. The solemn tick-tock of a grandfather clock. A pale-white mother too terrified for words. A desperate father lost in prayer. The screams of a girl being tortured by some beastly force. A stoic priest breathing cold air as he steadies himself to face the devil that awaits behind a bedroom door. But it’s not the trailer for The Exorcist VI: The Pea Soup Chronicles. No. It’s a commercial for something far more sinister. Be afraid. Be very very afraid. (And be nice to your grandmother.) If you missed this when if first came out, watch and behold after the jump:

The only Burning Question from 'Cars 2': Seriously, where are all the human beings? Did the cars pull a Skynet?

The Cars films are clearly supposed to be set on Earth. In the first movie, Lightning McQueen is on his way to Los Angeles, California. In the just-released sequel, McQueen and his pal Mater take a spin around the world, visiting Tokyo, London, and a city in Italy. These are all places that exist on our planet, rendered with Pixar’s usual attention to microscopic detail. And yet, I can’t help noticing that there appears to be one rather essential detail missing from the Cars duet: Human beings. READ FULL STORY »

Chris Harrison blogs 'The Bachelorette' episode 6

Chris-Harrison

This episode had a lot of highs and many lows for Ashley. You’ve all had very strong opinions about Bentley this season, both good and bad. I want to deal with all this episode had to offer, but first I want to give you some updates on things we have coming up in the very near future for you. First of all, we have wrapped the first part of production on Bachelor Pad 2. It is incredible and will far surpass anything we came close to producing last summer. From start to finish this show will entertain like never before. We will also be bringing you what we’re calling “Bachelor Updates” on our most popular couples. The first you will see on Monday, July 11th. I sit down and talk to Emily who is speaking publicly for the first time about her relationship with Brad. I know all of you have had tons of questions about Brad and Emily, and their silence has only added fuel to the tabloid fire. Emily and Brad wanted to remain silent until the time was right for them to speak. That time is now, and you will see and hear all next Monday night. READ FULL STORY »
