Snape fans, rejoice! You’ll have a chance to see your beloved Alan Rickman in the flesh this fall. The much-lauded actor (and Harry Potter favorite) will headline the cast of the world premiere play Seminar on Broadway.
The biting comedy by Pulitzer Prize nominee Theresa Rebeck (Mauritius, Spike Heels, and NBC’s upcoming Smash) centers on international literary legend Leonard (Rickman) as he teaches a private seminar for four aspiring writers. Competition to be teacher’s pet arises, and things quickly spiral out of control for the over-eager pupils.
It’s been nine years since Rickman took the stage in his Tony-nominated turn in Noël Coward’s Private Lives in 2002. He also earned a Tony nom for 1987′s Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
In the director’s chair, Obie Award winner Sam Gold (Circle Mirror Transformation, The Aliens) will make his Broadway debut. A firm date hasn’t yet been set for the play’s premiere at the Shubert Theatre.

One of the best actors out there. Love me some Alan Rickman.
He appeared last fall in the Ibsen play “Borkman” at the BAM theater in Brooklyn.
Might want to update the last line. It’s set to debut at “a Shubert Theater,” as in a Shubert owned house, not The Shubert Theatre. “Memphis” isn’t closing…Unfortunatly.
He NEEDS an Oscar for Harry Potter
He should have got a nomination, at least, for “Die Hard”. What a debut!
Alan is the best actor in the world! Love him forever!
He is absolutely EPIC! He is my favorite of all time! By far the best actor of our time. I can not wait to see him in this!
