Peter Falk, beloved character actor who starred in Columbo and The Princess Bride, passed away last night. The two-time Oscar nominee had been battling Alzheimer’s disease for three years at the time of his death. He was 83 years old. They may have not have known him, but it’s obvious they know and appreciate his work. That’s still honoring him, too. Just because they didn’t play golf with the guy doesn’t mean they didn’t respect his legacy.
It’s fitting that Kevin Pollak is among the first to comment. His impression of Peter as “Columbo” is peerless. It requires great affection for the subject, to do an impression that good.

Almost every comment on here is shameful! How anyone can say that at ANY age death is inevitable?! That is just down right cruel. What if someone told you “Who cares you old geezer, you died, thank you”?! I thought Falk was SUPERB as Columbo and watched the show all the time. He did a GREAT job playing a detective that was supposedly “stupid”. Suffering from alzheimer’s is no joke and it’s one of the worst ways to go, along side cancer! No one deserves to die of something like this AND if you believe in God you would care, even for someone you’ve never met. I hope his family finds comfort that he went peacefully. Many lesser known actors are really not given proper credit for things they have accomplished in their lives and the lives they have touched. How many of you can say you have influenced many and will leave a legacy that is fitting for others to follow? He will be remembered by many. Will you?? RIP Peter Falk and thanks for the GREAT entertainment you left for us to enjoy .

I still remember watching Columbo with my grandmother back then.
Marvellous actor. Must have been a lot of outtakes on “The In Laws” due to laughter. When Falk described to Alan Arkin the size of the mosquitoes that he once saw carry off children! “Serpentine, Shel, serpentine!” Falk was also an animal rights defender. Bless ya Peter.
Agreed! I could list right off the top of my head at least a dozen lines from “The In-Laws” that, to me, are comedy classics. The way he and Alan Arkin played off of each other was perfection (and I also can only assume they had each other cracking up on set).
