Johnny Depp is the best actor out there. I love every single one of his movies, and I’ve seen them all. If you don’t like the movie, don’t blame Johnny, blame the people who created the movie. Don’t like the story? Bitch at the screenwriters. All Johnny does is show up, perform flawlessly, and move on.
And for bashers of “The Tourist,” it was meant to be a low key movie. Depp chose it because after all the strange characters he’s played, he was stoke about playing just an average guy. Which he did excellently.

johnny depp needs to make one more movie the remake of gone with the wind it would be a blockbuster and kiera knightley as scarlett the on screen chemstry between them is one reason the pirates was so successful
Bite your fingers for even typing that! They would be insane to ever take those roles if, by some crazy chance they ever remade GWTW. You simply can’t come out looking good when you’re being compared to Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh in two of their most iconic roles. No remake ever!
Oh dear God no! I’m all for movies being remade, but there a select few only very very few that should be hands off. Gone with the Wind is one of them. There is no actor who can play Rhett Butler as well as Clark Gable. And no one who can play Scarlett O’Hara to the perfection of Vivien Leigh.
I’m a huge Johnny Depp fan, and I applaud Johnny’s performances (whether the movie as a whole is any good is another story). But Gone with the Wind? No one would ever touch that.
I’ve loved Depp as an actor since Platoon. He is a true actor-one that creates his characters an makes them come alive.
I love 95% of his movies. Ed Wood, Fear an Loathing and The Libertine were not for me.
I loved “From Hell” no one ever mentions this movie and it was great. I thought his Ichabod in Sleepy Hollow was so funny an the movie was both funny an scary. Love GIlbert Grape. “Barber…” was great in the fact that he sung an really stretched as an actor an it was so different. His acting was superb.
I’m 57 and about the only time we go to the actual theaters is for a Depp movie.
I even plan to watch Rango. Yes, DEPP is the draw-most of his fans will watch him in anything an not be disapointed. He is the most talented an highest grossing actor of the past 20 years. I think he’ll be even more popular in another 10 years. I liked The Tourist, both Joile an Depp. I don’t think anyone got it that Jolie character was playing a part. I think that part was a super elegant luxury loving elite. I won’t give the plot away.
Depp is a huge talent and his Captain Jack is pure genius and the movies don’t have to be deep or meaningful, they are fun, they are adventurous and they make me smile. In today’s economic misery, that’s worth my money.
Number one box office gross doesn’t mean anything! Some places charge 2 bucks for daytime matinees. We need to look more at theater ATTENDANCE! Seats filled to seats bought! And some people may see a movie more than once in one night!
On another note I am a Johnny Depp fan, I would watch his worst movie once just to see what it’s like. However what I find interesting is there are so many movie critics out there! Look people, it may be bad to you but my brother LOVES ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’! No I did find it to be his best movie but his acting skills for the part he played was awesome, as is most of his movies!
It is nice you have a voice but look at both sides of the coin before you start condemning!
What people aren’t thinking about is while he’s making Pirates [which I love] he’s also making Rum Diaries, Tonto, Dark Shadows etc. He does what he enjoys. He doesn’t ever have to make another movie again. He’s always said if it stops being fun, he’s done.
Pirates is so beloved by my threee grandkids and me [57 years old] why would he stop? Did you see where he took that little English girl on the red carpet with him? He adores kids and Captain Jack is almost like Mickey Mouse, why stop? What would the kids go see?
There are the main reasons for movies and us to spend our money-entertainment. Depp entertains and keeps entertaining and obvious however “Horrible and boring” Pirates are, #4 just hit one billion dollars. Someone is being entertained.
Depp has been in 4 of the 10 top grossing movies, but he’s also created unforgetable characters and has crafted a career that not a single other actor could even attempt to duplicate. Depp is unique and jealous people try so contantly to shoot him down and to critisize. Depp is a fantastic, trained and skilled actor. He’s not up there flying by the seat of his pants. He’s had lots of training. He only makes it look easy.
Nothing Johnny EVER does is bad! Most of his ‘critics’ are male; probably because they have female partners who feel threatened by his looks, personality and, oh, his ability to master the art of acting ANY role; be it box-office or art-house. Isn’t jealousy a deadly sin?
