Batman: Arkham Asylum was particularly amazing. It was a perfect blend of Danny Elfman’s score from “Batman” (1989), Shirley Walker’s work on “Batman: The Animated Series” and Hans Zimmer’s booming score for “The Dark Knight.”
The soundtrack for the Bioshock games really immerses the player in era.
I remember the first time I heard the Halo soundtrack, I got goosebumps.
The songs in Portal 1 & 2 are awesome.
It bears repeating since some people apparently haven’t listened to it, but the Mechwarrior 2 soundtrack is far and away the most innovative soundtrack ever. On a side note, Jesper Kyd is probably the best gaming composer in the business today.
It’s an oldie, but I’ve always loved the soundtrack to “Grim Fangango,” an adventure game from LucasArts, circa 1998. Very Mexican-influenced, as fits the calavera hero. Still one of the best adventure games I’ve ever played.

Banjo-kazooie.
Silent Hill soundtracks up through Homecoming. Akira Yamaoka is a genius.

Also, Greg Edmonson’s scores for the Uncharted series are amazing, if only because they harken back to his fantastic work on “Firefly.”
