The literary sensation Go the F–k to Sleep takes aim at horrible annoying children, sort of like how Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle took aim at horrible heartless plutocrats. Now, actor/Marvel mascot/general man-about-town Samuel L. Jackson has recorded a complete audiobook version of Adam Mansbach’s book, which is currently downloadable for free at Audible.com. Jackson prefaces his reading by explaining that, when he was reading stories to his daughter in her early years, he actually would tell her, “Go the f–k to sleep.” (Of course he did.) Jackson’s slow-burn parental exasperation — simultaneously tender, badass, and helpless — is truly ear candy. Dear Hollywood: When you try turning Go the F–k to Sleep into a sitcom and/or a film franchise, we might take you seriously if Jackson comes along for the ride.

I laughed myself silly just READING this thing several weeks ago, so I’m not sure I can handle the awesomeness of hearing it spoken by Jackson. My head might explode. For real.

This is terrible. Who would read this to their children?!?! Who would speak like that to their children?!?! It makes me so sad that their are parents out there like this Samuel Jackson.

it’s not meant for children. Its an adult book. no one should speak to their children that way. The book is supposed to be a reflection of what is going on in the minds of parents when their children will not go to sleep. I laughed so hard when i read it, because the anger and frustration of putting your kid to sleep is something we all feel.
It is not for kids, and based on your level of intellect, I fear for yours if you have them.

Relax, Samuel Jackson has a great relationship with his daughter. And the author wrote the book after a particularly trying time with his daughter. He doesn’t actually talk to her like that.

I saw this book a few weeks ago and was crying I was laughing so hard! As a mom of 4 little ones, there have been WAY too many times that I can relate to feeling like this.
