Lady Gaga's meat dress gets new expiration date at Hall of Fame

When I heard that Lady Gaga’s most famous dress was going to be showcased at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for its Women Who Rock exhibit, I had a slight beef. Didn’t the designer promise that the dress was destined to become jerky? More importantly, how has her meat dress possibly been preserved? She wore it to the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 12, 2010. It didn’t exactly seem fresh then — and that was nine months ago! Has it been in the freezer since then? (I assume Gaga has a walk-in freezer closet, don’t you? The meat dress hangs right next to her Klondike Bar pajamas.)

I can’t imagine the Hall of Fame will keep the dress under glass for too long. The U.S.D.A. might take an interest after a few days. Where do you think the dress ultimately ends up? Back in Gaga’s cooler? EBay? Oooo, what if Meat Loaf purchased it? Would that kill irony once and for all?

They’re going to grind it up and serve it at McDonald’s. It’ll be the freshest meat to ever make its way into one of their “restaurants.”

    • Enough of Thrash

      Please go away..

    Klondike Bar Pajamas, hilarious.

    • Queen of 99cents album named Gaga

Copycat again! Damn…I am still waiting for her to grow a ..brain!!!

  • Berlin

Damn, i wanna take a picture with that. Hopefully i get a chance before they’d take it down.

    • Ethan

Sure it isn’t made of fabric? Has anyone who has actually seen it, talked about it?

  • JMB

Funny how EW reports on everything they can about this woman regardless of how unnewsworthy it is yet they managed to ignore reporting how sales of her new CD plummeted 84% in its second week.

    • Tiffany

Funny that you focus on the 84% number…instead of the fact that she sold 174,000 units which is far more than her peer’s 2nd week sales. Britney only sold 76,000 in her 2nd week!

  • Chris

@JMB Second week drops are completely normal. First week sales are what is hyped and when promotion occurs. Also, she still had the number 1 album in her second week.

    • Slimer

not THAT much. That kind of a drop is newsworthy.

      • Max

Most drop around 60% actually, and when you are coming off a 1mil + week, yes thats totally normal. She sold 2 mil CD’s worldwide in the first week. Most artists cant move 500k copies here in the US. Its really not a big deal, her label is laughing to the bank

      • RT

Max — they aren’t laughing too much since a good check of those sales were for only 99 cents.

      • Well…

@RT – as it’s been said, the label got their full digital wholesale for the album, Amazon took the hit for their 99 cent promotion. So the label got the same amount for all of their digital album sales.

    • JMB

@Chris. An 84% drop in its second week is pretty much unprecedented. In fact this drop was the biggest second week drop in Soundscan history. Also, it was clear that the first week sales were hugely aided by Amazon’s 99 cent download. The message? Her overly hyped music can’t stand on its own without gimmicks and huge discounts.

      • @ Mary The Flop

Gaga is trying 2wice hard to be just half good!

    • CB

Gaga is no. 2 in her third week. Adele kicked her out of the top spot.

Meanwhile, the rumor is that her Pat Benatar reject song “Edge of Glory” fell on the singles charts to no. 7

  • Colin

Writing about fluctuating CD sales in this market is about as news worthy as saying “BREAKING NEWS… LADY GAGA IS BREATHING!!!” With online music taking over as it has actual CD sales only have a staying power of one week while the hype of the release is out. Then everyone else goes online the latter weeks and cherry pick the album for just the songs they like. Thats when you see a huge decline in CD sales.

  • Paige

Lady gaga has sold 942k in the u.s.a in three weeks that is without the amazon discount. Selling that much is very impressive now days. Also selling 2 mil worldwide about 2.5 million with amazon. The haters are just hoping and praying she fails. The hater is always the loser. What other female artist besides taylor adele and beyonce can sell that much. Some of you really believe your opinions will hurt gaga’s sales or career? How do u know how well btw will sell completely? Can u see into the future? I am not a little monster i just listen to her music.

  • Paige

The edge of glory was no.8 last week if it is no.7 this week Good.

  • Chucklehead

I’ll bet that thing smells as bad as her woowoo by now.

of course like your website but you have to take a look at the spelling on several of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling problems and I in finding it very troublesome to tell the truth then again I’ll surely come again again.
