'The Glee Project': First impressions are everything, and I already can't decide who I like most!

I just watched the “get to know” segments and judging by those and the voices in the video, I’m rooting for Lindsay, Cameron, Samuel, and Marissa. Lindsay may look a little like Quinn, but I have a feeling she has a “Rachel-like” voice and not to mention those eyes haha. The rest seem like they could also be great additions because they’re different. I too also like McKynleigh.
I hate them all and I went into this video expecting to like it. Out of all of them, Lindsay is probably the least awful but she still has that Christina Aguilara diva thing going on which would bug the crao out of me. McKinley already has its resident Diva.
.,.,.,.,
Definitely Samuel. All the others look like characters already on the show already. His look is very unique and original and the only one that would have any chance at an original story line that also hasn’t already been done.
The dredlock white dude was had a nice voice. I also liked the first girl and the red head. Ugh! Now I’m gonna have to watch this show. Thanks EW and Oxygen!!
those are my thoughts just based on the video…everyone else was way over the top
My vote would be for the Irish pretty boy Damian! He sings, acts and dances as well as brings some decency to Glee! Our youth need to have some good unfluences to look up to!!
I’m actually quite impressed with them all, though I’m rooting for Damian (Celtic Thunder fan). I think it would be nice if they find a way to give the 11 who don’t win a small bit on the show, maybe as one of the competiting teams at sectionals or regionals.
With that being said, I’m not really sold on the concept of this show. It makes no sense to me to cast an actor and then try to write a character to fit the actor and force him/her into the show. It makes more sense to write a character that fits the needs of the show and then cast the actor. This idea that these kids should be inspiring Ryan Murphy to come up with a character is just silly in my mind. How is it about acting if they’re not auditioning for a specific role? And how is it a fair competition if it might just boil down to what type of character suits the needs of the show better? Maybe it will play out differently, but I’m skeptical right now.
I agree. And initially they had said that this competition was to find someone for Mercedes. Did the “suddenly Sam and Mercedes are dating” bit change that?
Chris Coffer inspired Ryan Murphy to write the character of Kurt Hummel. (Hummel because he looks like the Hummel figurines) There was no character Kurt or like Kurt in the draft of the pilot that they were casting with. Since Kurt is the best character, Ryan Murphy is looking for an actor that will help him to write that something extra that the audience will love and an actor that is as likable as Chris or Darren.
Wait – a contestant (or whatever) named “McKynleigh”? Wouldn’t that be confusing since the name of the school is “McKinley”? Is that really her name? Just curious…
Hi Kate – yes, her real name is Mckynleigh .. Miki for short!
♥♥♥ TEAM DAMIAN ♥♥♥ Damian is alot of fun, he’s so happy-go-lucky! I’ve been following him for 4 yrs now with Celtic Thunder and have watched him grown-up and become this handsome, talented young man who is destined to have a career in the entertainment industry. We “THUNDERHEADS” are SO PROUD of you Damian!!!! We got your back!!!
For me I am looking for someone who can fit in the show that is different than what we already have now. My front runner is McKynleigh. She is less diva than Mercedes but can challenge Rachel vocally. None of the guys really impress me. Possibly Cameron simply because he is a bit different. He seems to be a mixture of a couple of the guys we have now.
I cannot wait for this show. To everyone who thinks they are “toomuch” you obviously have never met theater geeks in real life. That is what they are like.
I don’t care who gets picked – i think they were all solid performers. Yep – even if there is another gay kid or fat chick (who is much more healthy looking than the girl on Glee now and who could actually sing really well here).
I hate that there has to be a stereotype of a “fat chick”, but at least the one plus-sized girl in this video could sing. I like the idea of the character of Lauren in Glee, but I don’t understand why on earth they would cast someone who can’t sing.
Team Ellis! She was in choir with my niece all throughout school. She’s extremely talented, writes her own music and starred in her senior year high school musical! She’s awesome! Go Ellis!
Damien and Cameron definitely stood out to me with their voices. Emily and Lindsay seemed the most interesting female voices.
Totally Hyped … Fantastic kids! Fantastic talent! Mckynleigh rocks! Go Team Miki!!!
