Consider… why this hasn’t already been done. In an effort to score an Emmy nomination for his work in his own HBO special, The Pee-Wee Herman Show, everyone’s favorite man-child (a.k.a. Paul Reubens) has decided to release his own glamorous “Consider” ad. You remember what it parodies: Melissa Leo’s surprisingly effective, yet ripe for parody Oscar ads that you really, really hoped were tongue-in-cheek, but were secretly glad to learn were real in all their Sunset Boulevard-y glory. (Shame on you! But, then again, The Fighter actress got the last laugh, didn’t she?)
So, this time around, consider Emmy fighter Reubens… and how good he looks in that fur coat.

Pee-Wee Herman is Broadway bound

I still hate that she won.
me too. hate her
her acceptance speech was so phony, she looked like a moron
you have to admit, the gilded swimming pools and indoor columns, and faux fur coat scream, i’m powerful, and gimmie gimmie gimmie!
I don’t hate that I won, I just hate that I looked like a completely disingenuous douchebag in front of billions of people with my starstruck look that I practiced for weeks beforehand. Good acting, eh?
me too. has anyone else been such an unliked winner? i love paul reubens for this.
I know, it’s just not right when the actor who gives the best performance wins the award. It should go to popular people.
What performance? She was clearly just being herself in The Fighter. She didn’t deserve that any more than Bill Murray deserved one for Lost in Translation for the same reason.
“What performance? She was clearly just being herself in The Fighter. She didn’t deserve that any more than Bill Murray deserved one for Lost in Translation for the same reason”
Oh, so you know both Leo and Murray personally? Idiot.
If you think Melissa Leo gave the best performance in that category, then maybe you should invest in some Acting 101 classes.
@AK
Maybe you should open your mind and realize that the world is full of different opinions. Yours are clearly coloured by your personal feelings against the woman.
me too
Me too. I was pulling for Jacki Weaver, who gave a far superior performance in Animal Kingdom.
Jacki Weaver’s performance should be in one of those “Top Ten Screen Villians Ever” lists.
So do I dee, but this new campaign reeks of so much awesomness.
I can’t believe this hasn’t been done already either. Love it!
Why? Because of the ad? How petty. Get over it.
We saw Pee Wee on Broadway and you can’t believe how much better it was in person than the televised version. Being in the audience and seeing him live was hilarious. Give the guy an Emmy.
Did he get a Tony nomination for his show? He should have if he didn’t.
If only Pee-Wee’s show was actually worthy of an Emmy…
What becomes a legend most?
Today’s secret word is ‘hilarious’….
lol! side3=winning
Although I hated the fact that Melissa Leo did those ads, I still think she had the best performance in her category, and deserved the Oscar for it. She just seemed like she wanted it too much.
Thank you! I hate how everyone’s bashing her just because of her personality. The Oscars should be solely based on performance in their role and even though I believe that the race was extremely tight [I'd seen all of them beforehand and loved every one of them], Melissa Leo just packed in so many various etiquettes to truly deserve her Oscar. Amy Adams of Hailee Steinfeld were the only main competition though in my book.
“I say we give him an Emmy!”
“I say we let him go”
“I say you let ME have him for five minutes.”
Get in line, honey.
I say we stop rewarding perverts.
I agree that as a person, Leo can be more than a little off-putting. But as an actress…she’s fantastic. Watch a couple of episodes of Treme. And not just for her–the entire cast is great.
Why is she so full of herself? She ain’t all that…
i completely agree. as a person, she really rubs me the wrong way. but in the few things I have seen her in – she really has been a great actress.
Please, I actually like the fact that for once a Hollywood Actor/Actress actually was honest about wanting a nomination/award. As for phony? Phony is the standard ‘It’s a pleasure to be nominated’ BS that everyone gives when they lose. I like Melissa Leo, I think she’s a great actress and is far from being phony.
She lacks humility. We can handle grossly overpaid actors and actresses IF they’re humble.
The Hamburger Dude….my favorite thing he’s done.
The future of rock n roll man….Springsteen’s fu*king it all up…”
Look, Leo is a fantastic actrees but i just thought that Hailee Steinfeld should’ve won.
I wholeheartedly agree. I’m still bitter that Melissa Leo won, especially since she cost me winning my office Oscar pool!
I think Melissa is a breath of fresh air. She’s real. After so much phoniness from Hollywood folks, Melissa rocked her natural self.
You obviously didn’t see her acceptance speeches at the Oscars and Globes then. It was the definition of phoniness. I kept thinking that her acting in those speeches was so transparent and bad, that it was a shame she was in the process of accepting awards for acting.
