Justin Timberlake hosts the season finale of Saturday Night Live this weekend with Lady Gaga, and he teams up with his “D–k in a Box”/“Motherlover” cohort Andy Samberg for a new set of promos. Watch them below. Timberlake already has two Emmys courtesy of SNL – Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for ”D— in a Box” and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his 2009 hosting gig. (“Motherlover” earned him another nomination.) How excited are you to see what they come up with next? (After watching the promos, anyone else hoping it involves drag?) READ FULL STORY »

'The Good Wife' season finale: Should that elevator scene have been in the promo? (And watch it again!)

The Good Wife wrapped its second season last night. Ken Tucker has your recap of the finale and Tanner Stransky has your post-mortem with co-creators Robert and Michelle King, who also tease where we’re headed in the fall when the show moves to Sunday night.
For me, the most pressing unanswered question about last night’s finale is whether CBS should’ve teased the elevator kiss in the promo. I suspect it will have helped the show cap the season on a ratings high — and driven more than one fan to drink pre-show cocktails (I had two) — but I found myself wishing I hadn’t known things would progress that far. 'The Voice' Battle poll: Which duet was best?
The Voice‘s Battle Rounds are quickly becoming one of the best recent innovations in the music-competition genre, and last night’s duels were a mishmash of vocal styles and musical genres. They didn’t always work acoustically, but they were certainly… interesting. Nakia and Tje Austin collaborating on Ne-Yo’s “Closer” was a surprisingly sweet jam, while the trio’s (Jared, plus the folk duo, Elenowen) rendition of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” seemed a little uneven. You can’t really go wrong with “Stand By Me,” which Angela Wolff and Javier Colon delivered, and the right voice can really shine in The Who’s “Baba O’Riley.” (Sorry, Justin.)
Which performance did you like best? Vote below. READ FULL STORY »
'Real Housewives of New Jersey' enjoys record ratings. Other Jersey-centric shows I want to see.
I thought 2010 was the Year of New Jersey. Then we saw this news: Last night’s Real Housewives of New Jersey premiere attracted 2.87 million viewers, making Monday the best night in Bravo’s history, according to the network. Add to that the fact that interest in Jersey Shore has only increased in its third season, and that I see posters for Jerseylicious more than I see my own face, and it’s official: I was wrong. Clearly, 2011 is the year in which we will fully embrace the Garden State (until next year) with successful series that spout more stereotypes than a third-rate stand-up comic at an open mic night. Because, if we listen to reality TV, New Jersey is a state full of loud women with big hair and beefy husbands who are suspicious waste management workers entrepreneurs. Actually, that’s true. (Hey, I live there half the year.) But! It’s also full of other wonderful things that should be highlighted on the small screen. Television, here are the New Jersey-centric series I want to see in 2011: READ FULL STORY »
'House' without Cuddy: Will you watch?
Whether you liked her or not, Dr. Cuddy was as vital to House as organs are to people: She provided one half of the will-they-won’t-they drama. She was the corporate, civilized ying to Dr. House’s unbridled, disgruntled yang. She wore really tight, low-cut shirts. Though we often cursed her for reigning in our unmanageable hero, we still couldn’t imagine a House without her. And now, with the news that Lisa Edelstein is exiting the show prior to its eighth season, it’s hard to imagine I’ll sit down for another whole season without her.
Come on: Despite all the mysteries, gross-out moments, and there’s-the-guy-from-Harold-and-Kumar-oh-no-wait-he’s-gone-what?! revelations, House was leading to one thing: That’s right, Huddy. READ FULL STORY »
Donald Trump won't run for president. But why?
Donald Trump announced yesterday that he would not seek the presidency, and today, the new question is, Why? Why did the real-estate titan and reality-TV star take his name out of the running for the Republican nomination? According to Anthony Baxter, he’s responsible for spoiling Trump’s potential campaign. The filmmaker, whose You’ve Been Trumped yet-unsold documentary chronicles a Scottish seaside resort’s fight against Trump’s planned golf course, told the Hollywood Reporter, “I do think Mr. Trump realized he would be under severe scrutiny if he actually ran for president, and our film had become part of that dialogue.” READ FULL STORY »
