Disney has put together a new trailer for Cars 2. Well, check that: It’s not really new, but it was put together — literally. The Pixar peeps built a LEGO reenactment of their first trailer to promote their June 24 release — and their line of LEGOS toys, of course. The child in me is mesmerized — LEGO missiles! LEGO explosions! — and desperately wants to believe this entire clip was shot in some humongous studio hangar where the elaborate LEGO landscapes and toys still exist for play, so don’t ruin it for me if you know that it’s all a clever CGI creation. Take a look. READ FULL STORY »

'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' and 'Midnight in Paris': What will you see this weekend?

Today, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides sets sail on a whopping 4,155 screens. Which means pretty much every other movie will be relegated to either outstretched bedsheets in theater parking lots or Fisher Price Two Tunes TVs (Remember those? No, me neither.) But there is one other big name facing off against Captain Jack: Woody Allen. His latest, the romantic comedy Midnight in Paris, is playing at a fearsome… six sites. Presuming you can find one of them, which movie should you see?
First, let’s consult the critics. EW’s Owen Gleiberman basically tells Pirates to walk the plank: “Its one real act of piracy is stealing away your excitement,” he writes of the fourquel, which follows Jack (Johnny Depp) on a new adventure with a swashbuckling love interest (Penélope Cruz). Meanwhile, Lisa Schwarzbaum has a slightly better time watching a screenwriter (Owen Wilson) and his fiancée (Rachel McAdams) spend Midnight in Paris — she gives the movie a B and calls it “an ingratiating, tourist-oriented exercise in nostalgia for a city that doesn’t exist.”
So what’ll it be, Paris or pirates? Loot or the Louvre? Head to the poll below, and let us know your pick! READ FULL STORY »
Daniel Radcliffe succeeds in dancing his butt off on Letterman
Daniel Radcliffe and the cast of Broadway’s How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman yesterday and performed a showstopper that proved Radcliffe is a true song and dance man. For some reason, CBS hasn’t made the performance itself embeddable. That’s a shame. Click here for the full episode on CBS.com and catch Radcliffe and Co. at 38:20. I was a bit worried when the choreography at 39:37 seemed inspired by Human Centipede, but it kicks into high gear by 39:50 and Radcliffe is spinning, doing a handstand, and otherwise seriously hoofing it.

Randy 'Macho Man' Savage killed in car accident
Randall Mario Poffo, better known as Randy “Macho Man” Savage, one of the greatest stars in professional wrestling, was killed in a car accident this morning in Tampa, Fla. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Savage was driving on Route 694 with his wife when his 2009 Jeep Wrangler veered off the road and into a tree. His wife, Lynn, suffered minor injuries, but Savage died later at Largo Medical Center. No other cars were involved, and the FHP does not suspect the accident was alcohol related. He was 58 years old. READ FULL STORY »
Ricky Gervais disses 'The Office' finale: 'If you're going to jump a shark, jump a big one'

Last night, the season finale of The Office trotted out a celebrity lineup worthy of The Marriage Ref, with Will Arnett, Ray Romano, Jim Carrey, James Spader, and even mega-billionaire Warren Buffett waltzing through the doors of Dunder Mifflin. The episode also featured a cameo by Ricky Gervais, Hollywood’s favorite irascible scamp/leering supervillain. Gervais, of course, co-created the original British version of The Office, which only ran for 14 episodes. Gervais just posted a reaction to the season finale over on his blog, in which he expresses something like exasperation with the American version. Noting that the season finale reminded him of the Chris Martin episode of Extras (in which a celebrity cameo is awkwardly wedged into a sitcom), Gervais laughs, “If you’re going to jump a shark, jump a big one!” READ FULL STORY »
Is there anyone left for 'South Park' to offend?
As CNN reports, Jesse Curtis Morton, otherwise known as Younus Abdullah Mohammad, was charged with making threats against Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park. He becomes the second person in one year to be charged for South Park protests: Muslim convert Zachary Adam Chesser — who, along with Morton, is a member of Revolution Muslim — was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his online comments after an episode of the series that depicted Muhammad in a bear suit. (In his statements, Chesser told Stone and Parker that they could face violent retribution, and could end up like Theo Van Gogh, who was murdered by an extremist in 2004 after releasing a short film about violence against women in the Muslim world.) Al Roker becomes the fifth Wiggle: 'This will be one of the highlights of my career' -- WATCH!
For Today‘s Anchors Abroad series, Al Roker traveled to Australia to join The Wiggles live on onstage, dressed as grapes, and in the music video, “Thank You, Weatherman,” dressed in an orange skivvy. And yet, my favorite part of this whole stunt is when we cut back to Roker and the ladies of Today in the studio this morning after the U.S. premiere of the video and they were dancing. We’ll miss Meredith Vieira’s enthusiasm. That’s in the second clip below. Enjoy. READ FULL STORY »
