This is the most boring final in a long time. Scotty will win… or it is the worst winner since Taylor Hicks.

Very unfair that two country music singers made it to the finals. I guess the majority of american idols watcher will now be country fans not rock music fans. Don’t think I will watch american idol again.
I’m not sure exactly how it’s “not fair” that 2 country singers made it. You sound like my kids who say it’s not fair they have to pick up after themselves. You might not like the end result, but it’s perfectly fair. Anyone can vote as many times as they want.
Scotty and Lauren are the best singers of all time. They will sell millions and millions of CD’s and become SUPER STARS in the music industry, playing at sold out stadiums through out the world. Oh, and don’t cancel a show because there will be riots and massive destruction. Just wait a few years! LOL!

i quit watching after james…95 million votes last week…its all teenager voting over and over…if you’re 20…you won’t win american idol…just the way the voting goes
No matter who we think is better it goes down to who gets the votes. I like Scotty and hope he wins. I think he will go far in country music just like Carrie Underwood. No one thought when she won she would do well.. Time tells all.
This Haley fan will not be voting. America got it all wrong. I hear Haley may sing a song on the finale, will DVR the episode and watch.

They’re both nice kids, but a little boring? safe? This show belongs to James Durbin as far as I’m concerned, since he left it was painful to watch, sleep-inducing.
Who will Haley and James fan’s vote for? = “Neither”! I think only the CW fans care at this point, the voting totals will be far lower than last week. Rock fans may watch, but i bet they won’t bother to vote.
Apparently, those rock fans haven’t bothered to vote much all season.
This entire season was a joke. When it first started, I was pleased with Steve and JLo. I thought they brought a breath of fresh air and seemed to really appreciate the music. It all fell apart once the weekly shows started and they were suppposed to…you know…judge. Neither does, and Randy doesn’t like to be booed so he stopped to. There was no critique at all and mediocre performances were allowed to slide. I miss Simon. All I can think of is that dripping voice saing, “Indulgent.” This entire season has been Indulgent.
For the first time since it began, I’m not watching. I just don’t care.
People, the best thing you can do if you are unhappy with the show – is NOT WATCH TONIGHT – They should see their numbers drop. Only then, would they take notice and possibly change the voting system – which ensures the kiddy vote will always predominate.
esp’ly when anyone can vote 50 times per email address. at least DWTS limits it to 5 per address. at the rate this is going, it’s going to be ‘CW Teen Idol’ from now on.

For people who are so disappointed with AI, you sure seem to express a lot of opinions. There are people who still enjoy the show – it will eventually run its course, but ratings show it’s one of the top watched shows, which is why you see so darn many commercials! The public will ultimately determine the success of each contestant so go ahead and watch the show and buy Pia, or Haley or James music and make them rich!

Scotty for sure. He is ready, knows how to act on stage, knows how to play guitar, and he got the audience.
Idol loves to brag about the number of votes each week, but it is really getting ridiculous when they get 96M votes from 24M viewers – and probably no more than half of these viewers even vote at all.
The power-voting blocks have the finale they wanted, so not voting will not change anything. The only way get through to the powers-that-be at Idol and to show they need to change this system of voting is to not watch.
The bottom line is all about ratings and the potential for commercial revenue that is tied to the ratings. Nothing will make AI stand up and take more notice than a good kick in the pocketbook.
