I’m totally confused, Patrick Jane’s plan was to 1.get the list of names 2.Identify the mole. 3.set a trap for Red John. the trap for Red John was him telling the mole that hightower wants to meet with him at the mall and talk before turning herself in, Patrick hoped that this info would be passed onto Red John BUT he got the mole wrong.. so how did Red John know to go to the mall, we must assume Van Pelt told the real mole their actual plan??

Red John is CBI director Gale Bertram. At the end of the episode “Red Queen” he quotes from the William Blake poem “Tyger”, saying it’s a poem he likes. He also fits everything necessary to be Red John. He has the influence as the CBI director to plant evidence, appoint accomplices to positions within CBI, plus he’s the right age, personality type, ect..

Hopefully the deaths were the end of the Red John story. I loved The Mentalist when It first came out. Just bit goofy and fun mystery plots with attractive characters and less dire story lines than many current shows. I have NOT enjoyed the Red John episodes and, in fact, rarely watch it anymore because RJ is too often involved in the plot.

I really wish they would hurry up and reveal Red John already. Anyway, has anyone considered that Luthor Wainwright, the current Director of the CBI, is Red John? Here’s my evidence so far: In the episode ‘Red Is The New Black’, FBI Agent Susan Darcy goes to Mr. Wainwright and tells him she is still investigating the Panzer murder. She tells him that she doesn’t believe that the man who confessed to the murder was really the murderer. She tells him that she believes Red John murdered Panzer and Jane helped Red John. In one part of the episode, Agent Darcy goes to see the CBI cornoner. Later on in the episode, the coroner is found dead in Rosalind Harker’s home. Now, the only person who could have known that the coroner talked to Agent Darcy was Wainwright. Also, Wainwright fits the height, weight, and build of Red John, and because he is young, Wainwright could definitely pull off the voice Red John used when he rescued Jane from the Red John copycats (assuming that the guy was Red John and not a disciple). Also, as Director of the CBI Luthor would have known about Rosalind Harker, since Patrick had brought her in to identify the fake Red John. Not only that, but upon first meeting Wainwright we find that he is highly intelligent and arrogant. Another piece of evidence is this, the figure we see in Rosalind Harker’s house at the end of ‘Red Is The New Black’ fits the build of Luthor Wainwright. That i all the evidence I have for now, but I’m almost certain that Red John could be Luthor Wainwright. If not then my next guess would be the man called J.D, who we met in ‘Red Is The New Black’. He’s a character that we don’t know too much about, though, except for the fact that, according to Lisbon, he works in the basement. He also knew that Agent Darcy was looking into Red John because Wainwright had J.D. bring the Red John files to him. He could have found out that Darcy talked to the coroner and then he could have killed the coroner because he (J.D.) is Red John and he knew Agent Darcy was getting too close to finding out who he was. Not much evidence against him though, as we don’t know too much about J.D. yet. Even if Wainwright or J.D. is not Red John, I’m willing to bet that at the very least at least one of them is a Red John disciple. Of course this is all just speculation for right now.

I’m just shocked that Brad Whitford from Aerosmith could act as well as play second guitar. He did a marvellous job pf posing as RJ LOL

There are 2 Brad Whitfords. One is a guitarist, one is an actor. The actor played RJ.

This is probably gonna open some doors for everyone. The writers of the show have based red john on this (Satyrs and Sunlight Red John of Haslingden). The clues are hidden in this poetry. It’s all there just look.

Unlike all of you, I haven’t seen the season finale yet (it’s on tonight 17 May).
I hope they stop the entire Red John story line. This isn’t The Fugitive and it had the one-armed man as a thread not the main part of any episode until the end. It seems every time they can’t think of a good story they go back to Red John. This is becoming a soap opera. Let RJ be dead and the jury nullify the charge against Patrick Jane if he’s charged with anything..
IF they keep RJ going; rename the show “Red John and Patrick Jane with occasional incidental, minor characters.” Think of the money they’d save on salaries! just guest stars only two permanent, main characters. Could they save even more if they put it on Anime network?
I really would like to see the Red John stories end. I think the episodes without him are good. I enjoy them.

I noticed that paragraphing and anything within “” (less than and greater than) signs isn’t displayed. The entry that starts “IF they keep…” is supposed to be a separate paragraph. It ended with “This paragraph is with a very big grin> enclosed by the math signs mentioned. I’m not trying to offend anyone — just add a little levity.

hi, actually i think one of Lisbon crew is working with RJ or informing him. this is the best reason for failure of Jane trying to catch RJ. or RJ is on of CBI guys. I am looking for him in all episodes and I hope find him.

Does anyone remember that the necklace that was ripped off of the female agent is now in her desk at CBI? Microphone anyone?

  • BJim

I just hope they have a good explanation why people are blindly following whoever RJ is. Now….the female hit person jumped off of the deck from the hotel room to her death rather than be caught and interrogated by the CBI. Why didn’t the woman end her life quickly in the limo rather than be taken into custody? It doesn’t match others……
