Justin Timberlake hosts the season finale of Saturday Night Live this weekend with Lady Gaga, and he teams up with his “D–k in a Box”/“Motherlover” cohort Andy Samberg for a new set of promos. Watch them below. Timberlake already has two Emmys courtesy of SNL – Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for ”D— in a Box” and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his 2009 hosting gig. (“Motherlover” earned him another nomination.) How excited are you to see what they come up with next? (After watching the promos, anyone else hoping it involves drag?)

Why are the promos always funnier than the show.
Because the problem with most of the sketches is they take a funny concept and run with it far too long. The promos are just the right length.
These promos are consistently funny…the problems usually start when Saturday night rolls around.
The real problems started just over a decade ago when NBC found it logical to keep this floundering, unfunny show afloat.
That was ridiculous. In a wonderful wonderful way.
We have to watch an ad to watch promos (aka ads)? :0|
To be accurate, Timberlake has 2 Emmy’s courtesy of ANDY SAMBERG. Timberlake “comedic” abilities are still at his Mousketeer days with all the hammy, ill timed and appearing funnier than he actually is because he’s a very famous and surrounded by funny people. The audience gets a kick out of seeing a pop singer on SNL and not a talented comedic actor. He’s an ordeal to watch in his over eager delusional belief in his talent. Please stop including him SNL.
Well said.
Or you could just not watch right? Wouldn’t that be easier?
Like him or hate him,, JJ, if your theory was correct that his successful hosting gigs have been SOLELY the result of being “surrounded by funny people”, how do you explain all the comedians and comic actors who have hosted and the show’s been awful?
I’m not in any way, shape or form a fan of the guy’s music, but give a little credit where it’s due … the episode’s he’s hosted have been among the best in recent years. He HAS to have had at least some small part in that.
Totally agree Cris, JJ’s argument makes no sense.
Timberlake has ALOT to do why his episodes are so funny. Haters just love to hate. He also has alot of input into what they do for skits. He’s a naturally funny guy.
I’ve said this before: If you had asked me in 1998 whether I liked Justin Timberlake I would have said ABSOLUTELY NOT! But in 2011, he’s actually pretty cool, and funny, and not a bad actor either.
Why do the writers really step it up when someone like Justin Timberlake hosts, but completely let Ed fail last week?? This show could be so great if they got rid of some dead weight (Kristin Wiig, Keenan Thompson, Fred Armisan) and let the newer players shine with some FUNNY writing material.
Your “dead weight” are actually the anchors of the show. They do the most “heavy lifting”. Seth Meyers, although a servicible WU anchor, is not as funny as he thinks he is. They need new writers.
