I love weepy, piano-filled tributes as much as the next person — especially when they’re recorded by large groups of artists who normally wouldn’t share a dressing room, much less the verse of a song. I can even admit I’m inexplicably fascinated by those music videos where all of said stars gather in a single room and “sing” the song with dramatic hand gestures. But leave it to Cee Lo to turn a cheesy pastime into something that is genuinely awesome.
Cee-Lo has teamed up with Duracell (?!) and adapted his song “Forget You” into this song/video tribute to the country’s volunteer firefighters, titled “Thank You.” After taking a listen, I have to admit, I’d like for him to do every tribute to everyone from now on. (Sorry, Elton John/Bono/other saintly humans.)
Sure, his song was practically made for adapting, but you have to appreciate lyrics like: “I admire, your quest for fire/the one that burns inside.” Also, random trivia alert: Mama Cee Lo was a firefighter. I love that!
Check it out below. Pretty fun; right, PopWatchers?
Oh, and because I know I put you in the mood for this:

That’s right Cee-Lo make that coin, milk this song like an infant.
LOL its so true. Just wait, he’ll have a version come out for the Army next, then the Police force, then paramedics. Talk about a one hit wonder.
Wow. Cynical much? His mom was a firefighter, it was Mother’s Day yesterday…hmmmm.
And if you don’t want to see the positive side, who cares if he makes money off it. Any tribute to VOLUNTEER firefighters, or any of those who put their lives in danger to save ours (that includes you), deserves as many tributes as can be made.
One hit wonder??? You may want to do some research before sharing more of that insight.
His mother was a firefighter? Wow, that’s impressive!
are you seriously saying one hit wonder, tells me how much you know about, what, ohyeah nothing, he’s been around quite a while now and has had a few hits if my memory serves me right. Get your facts straight before you yap your mouth. Look at the timing of the song and what his mother was and then talk to people about it.
one hit wonder? LOL you obviously no nothing about mucic… ever heard of Crazy under his other name Gnarles Barkley
Is this gonna be the new theme song for Rescue Me?
Ok…that was truly awesome.
Captain, his fans will attack your reference of him being “one hit wonder.” Actually, he had a hit in 1995, too, called “Crazy.” That makes
hit a 2-hit wonder.
Actually he was part of a hit rap group before Gnarls Barkley, called Goodie Mobb that was part of The Dungeon Family along with Outkast. He’s been around a long time. He deserves all the success he gets.
Amen to that. Before some of the rest of these posters post, they oughtta look up the man and see what all he has contributed. And for the cynics, his Mother was a fire fighter so well done, Cee Lo.
yea brother, tell um!
OMG what decade are you in? 1995???!!! try 2006
Haha this was enjoyable enough but I have to say I was distracted by Cee-Lo checking his phone throughout the video. If you’re gonna do a tribute, at least act like you want to be there and don’t text the whole way through! I still really love Cee-Lo but that seems unprofessional.
He might have been reading the lyrics, not checking text messages, to make sure he didn’t sing “F#$% You”.
It could be that he’s reading his lyrics off of his phone. I’ve seen people bring their phones up to the podium during acceptance speeches.
I think he was reading the lyrics off of his phone.
watch behind the scenes and you will see that he was reading the lyrics off the phone
Reading lyrics off the phone is pretentious but wearing sunglasses indoors isn’t?
C-LO: Eat a salad.
Waiting for him to trot out Gwyneth for a remix.
Sometimes reading the comments on ew.com leave me feeling outraged. Some of you are so jaded, so bitter, so negative. Why not take those negative feelings you keep spewing on people you don’t know, tv shows, songs and movies you didn’t write and do something constructive with it?
I hear ya Brent. It seems that the comments lately have taken on an even nastier tone that in the past. In fact, I’m willing to bet that someone will write an inappropriately awful response to your comment. It doesn’t make me feel outraged anymore so much as sad for humanity.
Well said Brent. I was tempted to post something negative as well but reading your post gave me a change of heart.
he’s reading his blackberry for the lyrics, loads of people use them
Thanks Brent for laying it out there. People need to realize that artist are human beings too. This song was remade for the Firefighters across the world!!. The money goes to their charity’s and to help keep our firefigthers employed. Thank-U C-LO and God Bless.

Adele’s Fat A$$ ripped off Cee-lo’s Crazy!
Re-posting the same comment on 10 different stories doesn’t make it 10 times funnier.
i think its crazy so many people can find negatives in this. all he is doing is thanking firemen! i liked it
“One hit” is more that 99.9999999% of musical artists achieve; it’s so strange that snide commentators use the term prejoratively (sp?). It’s like saying “He only played one season in the NFL” That’s A LOT further than most of us will ever get…
