Maxim has released its annual list of the world’s 100 hottest women. This year, Victoria’s Secret model/Transformers: Dark of the Moon star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley comes in at No. 1. Sure. Why not? It’s a timely pick. Just like Kate Middleton is at No. 26. A few points worth discussing though:
• Jennifer Lopez, People‘s most beautiful woman, doesn’t even make the list. And this list includes Jersey Shore‘s JWoww at No. 78. Do you agree with Maxim — there is a difference between beautiful and sexy, and this is the best example ever? Or do you think this is ageism? (Exhibit B, your honor: Sofia Vergara is only No. 29. Rebuttal: Cameron Diaz somehow ended up at No. 4, right after Katy Perry and right before Mila Kunis.)
• Are we excited or worried to see Emma Watson come in at No. 69? For some reason, that makes me happy, but seeing Miley Cyrus at No. 64 doesn’t. I feel like Cyrus doesn’t need the encouragement, and Watson won’t let it affect how she carries herself.
• How many male readers do you think even noticed that the text accompanying the photo of Grace Park (No. 59) in the online gallery is totally out of date? It mentions Battlestar Galactica but not Hawaii Five-0. Ditto the text for No. 24 Sarah Shahi, which says she’s currently on The L Word and doesn’t mention Fairly Legal.
• As if Christina Hendricks (No. 56) being deemed less sexy than January Jones (No. 12) isn’t upsetting enough, Lindsay Lohan is No. 38.
• It’s nice to see Winter’s Bone Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence (No. 10) get recognized. Credit her Oscar gown?
• Clearly, men love breasts. See: Michelle Trachtenberg (No. 27), Amanda Bynes (No. 30), and Alison Brie (No. 49). So where is Blake Lively? She’s not on the list, period. (Point for Leighton Meester, No. 16!)
• CBS is the hottest network, thanks to NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Daniela Ruah (No. 88), Hawaii Five-0′s Park (No. 59), The Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Cuoco (No. 13), and How I Met Your Mother‘s Cobie Smulders (No. 9).
How did Brittney Spears make the cut? Why didn’t they throw in Jessica Simpson while they were at it?
Britney is an attractive woman. This is not 2007 anymore. She looks fine.

Maxim’s list is always whack… but no Blake Lively is shocking. Especially with her roles in movies the last couple years (and upcoming with Green Lantern) as well as Gossip Girl.
Somehow I imagine that the team putting this list together is very small. Like one guy even. Blake Lively! Come on!

Because Trachtenberg and Bynes are known for their large breasts?
Well, they’ve got breasts instead of skeletal flatness. In Hollywood, that seems to equal “big breasts”. (Please note, there’s nothing wrong with healthy small breasts – it’s just that I doubt many women in Hollywood are capable of sparing the body fat to fill out their chests any.)
I wasn’t aware that Alison Brie was known for her breasts either. If the editors were *really* that much into breasts, you’d think that Christina Hendricks would have at least been top 5.
I read the AV club recaps of Community. There’s a vast distribution of people who blue themselves over any shots of Allison Brie’s cleavage in an episode. It borders on creepy.
To Pierce Hawthorne she is known as “Large Boobs” not to be confused with “medium boobs” or “black boobs”
To be fair, as far I know Brie’s cleavage is the only one on the list to have a pet monkey named after them.
Plus, don’t forget that Troy’s monkey is named Annie’s Boobs. I don’t think they’ve emphasized her figure since she’s supposed to be the “good girl” to Britta’s “bad girl.” But when she’s been called on to play sexy, she’s done just fine.
Plus, Troy named his monkey “Annie’s Boobs”. Enough said.
Maybe not Michelle Trachtenberg, but Amanda Bynes is pretty stacked!
Whoa. That model has got a rockin’ body, but…well…she’s got a rockin’ *body*. Or maybe it’s just an unfortunate picture.
Very disappointed with this list. Very. The “random” group that ws polled for this either was paid off or have very low standards.
I know there are obviously numbers attached to each of the women, but it honestly seems like they were mostly selected at random.

How did Cameron Diaz even make the list? Clearly this was decided prior to the royal wedding or Pippa Middleton would have cracked the top 10.

I don’t find it shocking that Blake Lively isn’t on the list. Yeah she’s tall and skinny, but she is not pretty in my opinion.
I’m shocked that Blake didn’t make the list–she’s always on these lists given that she’s a tall, buxom blonde. But yay for Leighton!

All I care about is that Alison Brie is at least somewhere in the top 50 where she belongs* instead of at measly #99 like last year.

I’m surprised Lea Michele beat out Naya Rivera and Dianna Agron isn’t on the list at all (and the article about Michele mentions Agron but misspells her last name)
The majority of the images usually are just lifts from previous shoots. I guess if the girl wasn’t in the magazine prior (example, Agron), then you don’t get into the 100.
I noticed that too.
Maybe Maxim’s tightening the purse strings this year. Guess the federal govt. isn’t the only one with budget issues.
The list is also heavily favored on stars that actually agreed to pose for magazine in the last year
Between that horrible dress she wore at the Met earlier in the week, Popwatch not wishing her a Happy Birthday yesterday and now being blown out of the water by January Jones on this list, it’s not been Christina Hendricks’ best week. Bad times.
Christina Hendricks looks amazing on Mad Men, but she rarely looks good in person/on the red carpet. January Jones is a million times more attractive.
And Miley Cyrus is a million times “hotter” than the stiff Emma Watson.
J-Lo does deserve to be on there, though. I don’t think she’s EVER looked as good as she does now.
I’ll absolutely give you that Hendricks has been a disaster on the red carpet lately…but you’ll never convince me that Jones is sexier. (And certainly not “44 spots on the Hot 100 list” sexier.)
But to each his or her own.
