A naked Zach Galifianakis shares a tub with adorable baby ducks

Quick! What is Zach Galifianakis’ best animal sidekick? It’s a tough question to answer, especially after seeing The Hangover Part II star relaxing nude surrounded by real bathtub duckies in the upcoming issue of GQ. (Cute, but unfortunately not quite as sexy as his Vanity Fair swimsuit shot.) Put aside those feelings of unease thinking about the fact that the actor is floating in a vat of duck waste, and vote: Which animal is the one-man wolf pack’s best sidekick? READ FULL STORY »

'Extreme Couponing': Still fascinating? Or annoying?

Extreme-Couponing

After last week’s premiere episode of Extreme Couponing, I was a little doubtful that the novelty would last. How much couponing can a person watch without getting bored or annoyed? Well, two episodes in, I’m not there yet. My obsession continues … for now.

What helped last night’s episode feel fresh was returning couponer Nathan, who set out on a charitable grocery outing to hopefully put to rest complaints that the hoarder-esque behavior displayed by some couponers is selfish — or some other adjective that means that extreme couponers are terrible people. (I reject this criticism probably because if I didn’t live in a 300-square-foot studio apartment, I’d have a stockpile, too. I’m also sort of nuts.) The goal of his trip was to purchase the products he’d need to complete 1000 care packages for soldiers overseas. And he did it for under $50. READ FULL STORY »

Hugh Grant secretly records chat with former tabloid journalist for true exposé

If you’ve already read Hugh Grant’s article for the New Statesman in which he secretly tape-recorded a conversation with ex-News of the World investigative journalist and paparazzo Paul McMullan, chances are you’re still talking about how awesome it is. If you haven’t read it, do so here.

Grant had met McMullan in December, when his “midlife crisis car” broke down and McMullan stopped to photograph him and then offered him a lift. After some swearing, Grant had to accept the ride, and during the drive, McMullan — someone who’d outed News of the World‘s alleged penchant for phone-hacking, which is back in the headlines again — claimed that Grant himself had been a victim. McMullan invited Grant to someday stop by the pub he owns, and when the New Statesman asked Grant to write a piece for them, he decided to pay McMullan a visit to learn more about tabloid journalism. “You’re not taping, are you?” McMullan asked when their chat started to get juicy. “No,” Grant lies in an admittedly “slightly shrill voice.” READ FULL STORY »

Courteney Cox tells Letterman about David Arquette and the Magic Kingdom

With Scream 4 opening tomorrow and Cougar Town finally returning next Monday, Courteney Cox is having a bit of a moment. The former Friend appeared on David Letterman’s show last night to chat about her movie, her series — and her relationship with David Arquette. Cox was surprisingly candid on that last topic, explaining that while the couple is still separated, they’re in a better place because Arquette is now “over 100 days sober.” She also revealed how her husband once tried to hit on her at Disney World, prompting the actress to respond with this fabulous retort: “You don’t have the fast pass right now. Not to that ride.” Watch Cox and Letterman’s encounter yourself below.

'American Idol': Who will go home tonight? Will there be another shocker?

idol-elimination

If Jennifer Lopez has her way, Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart will remain comfortably ensconced on the velvet benches of safety during tonight’s American Idol results show, while one of the six male finalists will finally go home. Sorry, J.Lo. Last week, I predicted an all-male bottom three (yeah, not so much), but this week, alas, I’m afraid that Haley’s perfectly pleasant performance of “Call Me” — which caused Randy to invoke the dreaded “k” word (i.e. karaoke) — may reacquaint her with the silver stools of doom. Who will join her? With Stefano’s triumphant full-court pimpage likely boosting him to safety, recent history suggests the safe bet is on Paul McDonald and Jacob Lusk. But in a season as wildly unpredictable as this one, I’m wondering if Scotty McCreery’s decision to sing the decidedly old fashioned country song “I Cross My Heart” — and his cringe-y, off-pitch high note at the end — may severely dampen his support and send him to the bottom three for the first time. (Yeah, probably not.)

But who do you think is in the bottom three, and who is going home? Vote in the polls below, and then explain why in the comments: READ FULL STORY »

This Week's Cover: Harry Potter's Final Act

Potter fans, take heart: The top-grossing movie franchise of all time will not end with a whimper. “The new film is just a relentless action movie,” says Daniel Radcliffe of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2. “It Just. Does. Not. Stop.” In this week’s cover story, we visit the stars and filmmakers on the set and learn secrets of the final, climactic installment, which hits theaters July 15. Such as? Well, for one thing, the final showdown between Harry and evil Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) in a wand duel at Hogwarts will be a little different from what author J.K. Rowling described in her 2007 novel. This time, the chase leads through Hogwarts and culminates in a very physical brawl as the two foes “apparate” (i.e., teleport) toward and away from each other.  READ FULL STORY »

Matthew Broderick and Anika Noni Rose will announce the nominees for the 65th annual Tony Awards on May 3 at New York City’s Lincoln Center, the American Theatre Wing and the Broadway League announced today. Rose won a Tony in 2004 for the musical Caroline, or Change and Broderick is a two-time winner of Broadway’s highest honor, for Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs in 1983 and for the 1995 musical revival How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

No word yet on who will host the actual awards ceremony, which will be broadcast live from the Beacon Theatre on CBS on Sunday, June 12. Broderick might actually be an interesting choice, since one of the big contenders this year looks to be a new revival of How to Succeed… starring Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe.

Ryan Reynolds gets animated in the new trailer for the 'Green Lantern' videogame -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Green Lantern’s power ring just might be one of the coolest super-hero accessories in all of comic books, a mystical emerald band that functions as a tidy symbolic summary of the geeky genre’s wish fulfillment fun. It lets you fly. It protects you from danger… unless that danger is colored yellow, the ring’s only flaw. It lets you conjure anything your mind can imagine — boxing gloves, a battering ram, even a big crusty ball of boogery nose cheese, if you choose — for the purpose of bashing the snot out of bad guys. Beat that, Batman!

Green Lantern’s wickedly cool jewelry also makes him an ideal next gen videogame hero. READ FULL STORY »

Jeff Probst on episode 9 of 'Survivor: Redemption Island'

Each week, Survivor host Jeff Probst answers three questions about the most recent episode of Redemption Island.

If Survivor is truly a social experiment, where does the way Rob has controlled every aspect of his alliance without any questioning or backlash whatsoever rank in terms of fascinating examples of human behavior?
Rob’s dominance is a great example of group dynamics. Had Rob ended up with the Zapatera group, he never would have had this much control. Mike, David, Steve, Julie, Ralph all have a lot of life experience under their belts and they would have handled Rob much differently than Ashley, Natalie, Andrea and Phillip. It all started when they reached into the bag and chose their tribe buffs. Crazy how one moment can determine so much. On the flip side, had Russell ended up with Ometepe he might still be in the game. As you’ve come to expect each week here on PopWatch, American Idol vocal coach and arranger Debra Byrd and associate music director and arranger Michael Orland sat down with EW to discuss Wednesday night’s Top 8 performance show right after the music ended. For a decade, Byrd and Orland have been on the front lines with the contestants, from Hollywood Week to the grand finale in May. The two work with the contestants on their respective songs, helping them shine on the Idol stage and in front of a national TV audience. Click through to read their take on this week’s “Songs from the Movies” show, including how Haley Reinhart told Byrd after the show how she’d made a huge mistake with her song choice, why James Durbin was like a kid in a candy store with his choice of “Heavy Metal,” and which of the contestants were most steadfast in their song choices, despite the urgings of Jimmy Iovine.
