At last night’s New York premiere of their new movie Water for Elephants, Reese Witherspoon cleared up a comment she reportedly made about being disappointed with her sex scene with Robert Pattinson because he was suffering from a horrible cold. “Let’s just get something straight: It’s still a sex scene with Rob Pattinson. I was havin’ a very good time,” she told Access Hollywood. Pattinson joked that Witherspoon had a better answer prepared for that question. “I only texted you that, I wasn’t gonna say that out loud,” she said. Asked if Witherspoon’s comment had hurt his feelings, Pattinson quipped, “No, I know she secretly likes it. I mean, she likes it a little bit dirty. I shouldn’t have said that on TV either … Green mucus, that’s our thing.” Watch the interview below. Witherspoon saves the conversation by insisting regardless, the sex scene is “really sexy.” They seem to have good chemistry. I’ll buy that.  READ FULL STORY »

Top 5 ridiculous moments on the 'Mob Wives' premiere

Last night’s premiere of Mob Wives—which chronicles the rapidly shifting moods of four scary women with intimate ties to the mafia—was kind of a guilty hoot. (Ken Tucker agrees!) Will I watch again? Oh, probably not. But that doesn’t mean I’m not grateful to these rough-edged, heavily eye-lined ladies for a helluva night. Here are five reasons we’ll always have Staten Island.

1) Mob Wife Karen Gravano, daughter of turncoat Sammy the Bull, made her 11-year-old Karina pinky swear to be her BFF. Without blinking a false eyelash, Karen then announced “Not only am I mom to Karina but I’m a house mom at a strip club.” Cut to her monthly book club dancing around the poolside strip pole and chugging from a cheap bottle of booze.

'RuPaul's Drag Race': Preview opening of tonight's episode 'RuPaul Rewind' featuring Chaz Bono -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Although last week’s RuPaul’s Drag Race pared the field of queens down to the final three, tonight’s edition of the reality extravaganza won’t crown America’s Next Drag Superstar. No, we’re in that fun-fun filler week, where the show pumps out a retrospective episode that fondly looks back over the season. It’s called “RuPaul Rewind,” and EW has an exclusive preview of the opening to the episode, which — yes, yes, yes! — features RuPaul in a Burlesque homage that finds our mother-queen hilariously saying “Wagon Wheel Watusi” in the style of Cher and also stars Chaz Bono! (Hello: If you can’t get Cher herself, get Chaz!)

Then, RuPaul grandly sings her newest song “Superstar” (which the queens did this season, too) and promises: “Tonight, it’s the ‘Superstar’ edition of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Get ready to gag, as we flashback on this season’s most unforgettable moments. Watch as this year’s queens bear more than just their latex boobies in never-before-seen, up-close and personal moments.” Last season’s final three — Jujubee, Raven, and eventual winner Tyra — all show up, too. Ah heck, just watch the opening preview here:

TV Land Awards: The best, the worst, and the 'Brady Bunch'-'King's Speech' spoof

TV-Land_Awards

The 9th Annual TV Land Awards aired Sunday night, and if viewers had even half as much fun as honoree John Travolta did, it was worth tuning in for. Let’s break it down:

Best presenter: Stevie Wonder, who guested on The Cosby Show in 1986. He presented the cast with the Impact award. The show, Wonder said, “united us in love, laughter, and dignity,” and “reminded us that we are all one family. It lifted us up and took us all to higher ground.” Cue a live rendition of “Higher Ground” that eventually had Bill Cosby dancing at his table. (Rewind!) When the cast took the stage, Wonder cracked, “Bill, now tell the truth. Y’all know I never saw The Cosby Show. I’m blind. Come on.” The two got the biggest laugh of the night with this exchange:

Bill Cosby: I am very, very upset because I am the father of these children, and they were sittin’ at the table drinking. They had champagne, Steven. My children were drinking, Stevie. I saw the baby, Rudy, put the bottle up to her mouth.

Stevie Wonder: Just act like you didn’t see them, Bill.

Bill Cosby: Oh yeah, it’s easy for you to say.

'Celebrity Apprentice': And the fired celebrity is...

“He’s either a genius or a moron and I can’t figure it out,” said Donald Trump about Gary Busey at the top of tonight’s Celebrity Apprentice, making him the last person on earth to figure it out. But would he figure it out before tonight’s Boardroom and would it cost Busey his Celebrity Apprentice life? My full recap will be up at 2am (UPDATE: Click here to read Dalton’s detailed Celebrity Apprentice recap), but in the meantime, if you’ve already watched the episode and can’t wait to sound off about who was fired, then read on below for more. [SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you have already watched Sunday's episode of Celebrity Apprentice.]

After calling John Rich either boy, cowboy, or kaboy, and ruminating endlessly on the joys of kite-flying, Gary Busey was finally fired by Donald Trump, putting an end to the non-stop hilarity of watching Trump come up with nonsensical excuses to keep the comically inept wannabe to the Celebrity Apprentice throne. The final nail in the Busey coffin was delivered during an advertisement task for Omaha Steaks in which the teams had to do a cooking show for executives and random trapped people. Even though La Toya Jackson did her best to burn down the building while cooking for the very first time, the men lost, perhaps due to Project Manager Busey’s comments that after eating Omaha Steaks, “the digestion is clean. And therefore you are open.” (I’m not sure whether I’m more grossed out or just confused.) His firing immediately vaults La Toya into the pole position of Contestant That Has No Business Still Competing On a Show Having Anything To Do With Business Acumen.

My full recap will up soon, but in the meantime, let us know what you think. Are you sad Trump will no longer be forced to pretend that Busey is “brilliant?” Impressed at how Hope lied about being a meat eater? Skeezed out by the way Star Jones kept putting her hands right in front of the chef’s junk? Hit the message boards and let us know. I hate myself for loving you, 'Mob Wives' trailer

Mob-Wives

The last thing I need in my life is another reality TV show. And yet I find myself inexplicably drawn to the promised antics of these Staten Island Four. (Particularly Drita, the blonde-ish one who looks straight out of a Dennis Lehane novel.) A couple questions before tonight’s premiere: Can I write “bitch” on this blog or will my editors make me type b^#!% over and over and over again? How much do tips cost these days? Is Renee’s I’ma-being-choked face real or a put-on? Do these broads make the Real Housewives of New Jersey look like your average suburban book club? (This month the ladies meet at Teresa’s to discuss The Red Tent!) I do take a certain pride in never having seen an episode of Jersey Shore. So. I’ve got that going for me. READ FULL STORY »

'Bones': Booth and 'Finder' Walter Sherman get reacquainted -- Watch here!

Filed under: Bones, Television, TV and tagged: , ,

The April 21 “Finder” episode of Bones serves as a backdoor pilot for a potential Fox fall series centered on Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults), a former military policeman who believes brain damage that he suffered in Iraq hasn’t just made him freakishly paranoid, but also gave him a preternatural ability to locate anything — or anyone. Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) travel to Florida to solve the murder of a maritime museum security guard, and once there, Booth suggests they call on Walter to help find a stolen treasure map. As you can tell from our first look at Walter in action, he and Booth have a history. The scene also introduces Walter’s associates: Leo Knox (Michael Clarke Duncan), who serves as his legal advisor, bodyguard, and best friend; and Ike Latulippe (Saffron Burrows), the badass who drives the boats, flies the planes, and owns The Ends of the Earth, the bar they call their headquarters. Watch the exclusive clip below.  READ FULL STORY »

'Scream 4': What's the best sound bite from the reboot?

SCREAM-4

The Scream franchise has always been all about the — pardon the silly pun — totally killer soundbites. The now-classic line from Ghostface — “What’s your favorite scary movie?” — launched it all in the first movie, and the great bites have just flowed from there.

Some of my other favorites include this one from Billy (Skeet Ulrich) near the end of the original movie: “Now Sid, don’t you blame the movies. Movies don’t create psychos, movies make psychos more creative!” And the exchange in the bathroom between the cheerleaders, who are talking about Sidney, slays me every time I hear it, especially this part from the bitchier of the two cheerleaders: “And it f—ed her up royally. Think about it, her mother’s death leaves her disturbed and hostile in a cruel and inhumane world. She’s delusional. ‘Where’s God,’ etc. Completely suicidal. One day she snaps. She wants to kill herself but she realizes out that teen suicide is out this year and homicide is a much healthier, therapeutic expression.” I used to recite that on a near-daily basis back when I was in high school (read: I was a total dork) and knew all of the Scream dialogue by heart. Ah hell, who am I kidding? I still know the Scream dialogue by heart.

Now, let’s talk about dialogue in context of the fourth flick, which just opened yesterday. Have you seen it yet? If so, then you can play this game. I wanna know your favorite line from the newest flick. What sound bite will we possibly still be repeating in, say, 10 years? READ FULL STORY »

'Smallville' recap: Going 'Fringe' and finding home

If it’s Friday night, it must be time for a sci-fi/fantasy series about heroes from one world warring with their angry doubles in a bleak parallel world located across the quantum divide. Usually, that show is Fringe – but last night, it was both Fringe and Smallville, which gave us an episode in which Clark Kent made a return visit (against his will) to The Land That Color Forgot, an utterly un-Pleasantville of bruise-hued black and white. The ‘over there’ Clark – in this world, the adopted son of Lionel Luthor and a super-sociopath, not a Superman – used a high-tech thingamajig to ‘port to the ‘over here’ world and tried to maroon our Man of Steel in his de-saturated dimension. (Meanwhile, where Smallville got all Fringe last night, Fringe ripped a (funny) page from Smallville and got trippy-comicbooky on us. Check out Ken Tucker’s recap here.)

“Kent” was about each Clark’s relationship to the concept of “home.” Clark Luthor had become Public Enemy No. 1 on an Earth he had exhausted as his own pleasure pit, so ‘over here’ offered the promise of a new start, a chance to pursue his perverse will to power differently and more successfully. This Week on Stage: ‘War Horse’ in New York, ‘God of Carnage’ in Los Angeles

War-Horse3

The Tonys are only two months away, and though there’s still no official word on who will host the show, we did learn this week that past winners Matthew Broderick and Anika Noni Rose will announce the nominations on May 3. Also in the news: The 2009 revival of Hair will return to Broadway for a summer run in July and the long-rumored Samuel L. Jackson-led New York production of the Martin Luther King Jr. drama The Mountaintop will start previews in September — but will not co-star Halle Berry, as anticipated.

Meanwhile, as awards season revs up, our critics saw three big Broadway openings, one off-Broadway stunner, and a triumphant NYC transplant in Los Angeles. Highlights below. READ FULL STORY »
