Boring, no you are wrong, it is not the same.
I don’t get it. Isn’t this supposed to be an entertainment site? Shouldn’t you guys be loving all the coverage? I have a feeling that if it were two rich Americans getting married, you’d be much more interested.
I grew up in England and saw from an early age this ‘royal’ family has ballooned into more and more at the tax payer trough. I can imagine the Duke turning to Queen Liz when the door closed and saying “well, we fooled em for another generation” dear
You want to talk about being sick of hearing abut this I DID NOT WATCH A MINUTE I was not interested before but with MONTHS of over coverage, some networks counting down the days Making up stories just to fill time WHAT COLOR WILL THEY WEAR American reporters talking about night clubs in London, drinking tea Some people are interested & that is fine but THE OVER, OVER, OVER COVERAGE Just could NOT stomach it
I did NOT watch any news on Friday I did NOT watch my favorite entertainment news shows And, we still have weeks to go until it may slow down
BE THANKFUL AN ACTUAL BIG NEWS STORY DID NOT HAPPEN FRIDAY IT WOULD HAVE BARELY BEEN COVERED
So many of you really have no sense of fun and history, you must live a very boring life, I feel sorry for the ones who say it was nothing, I’m sorry for you because you are boring.
Managed to avoid most of it by not watching the news. So glad it is over. Oh and I am British!!
Shame your a Brit and feel that way. It was wonderful with all the bad crap going on, I wish I lived in a country with such a historic Wedding to watch.
I’m not crazy about the whole royal wedding thing, but it certainly was a welcome news topic over Charlie Sheen or whatever else the news has been focusing on lately. It’s too bad it’s over, now we’ll have to go back to hearing about Charlie’s latest hooker escapades, or Lindsay’s latest trial, or the latest guy that Kim Kardashian is sleeping with, or how much Donald Trump is in love with himself.
I loved all the hype – well yes I’m British – it was something positive and cheerful for a change (and didn’t involve sport) so I’m happy!
As a British woman, I don’t get the appeal either. But then I’ve been told by people I know that republicans (the persuasion, not the political party) are just dour snobs who despise the masses and the spectacle they enjoy.
Jealous I Guess
Yeah, Royalists never match us for our dourness. As for snobbery, fugeddaboudit. They love the masses!
I know a lot of guys say why should we care about people who don’t affect us. Think of it this way, many American women have to put up with that kind of thinking every late Jan and early Feb during a small little event called the Super Bowl. Sure Will and Kate’s lives don’t affect ours. But do you really think your lives will end if the Packers and/or Steelers didn’t win? Same thing.
Why does news coverage of the wedding Upset you so much ? How often is there a Royal wedding? Aside from the tragic Death toll what makes this tornado different from the one last week?

A fairy-tale lovely and very very expensive wedding. No harm done to all dreamers who loved to be entertained by the occasion. Monarchy is an outdated tradition but the Brits are proud of it. Hope this young and promising couple can make a difference instead of just being pretty prince and princess.
Let’s see, while I was sitting at home babysitting two of my grandchildren, the other one was in the hospital having tests run which will probably determine what the rest of her life will be like. Now, did I need a diversion of the royal wedding? You bet I did. I watched those two young people get married over and over again all weekend long and enjoyed every minute of it. Didn’t change anything with my granddaughter, but it sure put my mind at rest from worrying so much. It’s all in your perspective of things.
Rest easy, if Harry gets married sure the coverage will be overblown but as 3rd in line it won’t be so intense
Though occasionaly dismissed as just a tiny little island; Great Britain is still a major world power – probably behind only the USA and now China. Further, their royalty is also head of state for its sister nations such as Canada and Australia which are both medium ranking powers on the world stage.
So, on one hand, it is only justified that there is significant nmedia coverage.
However, it is also true that the power of the Royalty is ‘mostly’ ceromonial.
So, whilst some level of news coverage was warrented, I can’t help wondering if the wall to wall global news coverage was overblown for what was really nothing more than a glorified ‘celebrity’ story.
