I don’t see how you can view Callum Blue’s performances as “riveting.” I always believed a major casting blunder was made when they cast Zod. Also, the Darkseid plot line for this season has been so haphazardly reeled out that it feels like an afterthought every time they refer to it. I like the show overall, but if they’d never introduced either Zod or Darkseid, I wouldn’t have lost any sleep.
I didn’t think it was a horrible episode but just wished the writers had found a better way to move the season forward. I enjoyed some of the action scenes but Justin Hartley’s inexperience with directing showed in parts, like an over-reliance on the slow motion during the fight.
The Clark and Lois scenes were the highlight of this episode. Everything else pretty much sucked. Zod’s new teeth made me laugh though. I guess a cosmetic dentist must have been banished to the phantom zone.
I have always hated Smallville from the beginning. Always seemed to much of a bad soap opera. Especialy the whole Lana, Clark, Lex love triangle–bleeech! I just know all this because my husband loves it and insists on watching it. He even has the dvds so he can watch it whenever–talk about being stuck in the phantom zone.
