What will Kathy and Joan say about the Royal Wedding hats?

I’m setting my DVR to record tonight’s Kathy Griffin Royal Wedding special (TV Guide, 8 p.m. ET) and Royal Wedding edition of Joan Rivers’ Fashion Police (E!, 10 p.m. ET) specifically to see what they have to say about the hats. Poor Princess Beatrice, pictured. I think the world agreed that her hat was the worst. “Princess Beatrice’s ridiculous Royal Wedding hat” already has a Facebook page and more than 16,000 fans.

Those hats were the only reason to tune in for the hours of arrivals — other than to hear Piers Morgan discuss who has a cocaine problem. You agree? Actor Rupert Everett — “the quintessential English gentleman” who appeared in-studio in jeans (jeans?!) to help TLC fill time — certainly had fun tearing into them. He said Beatrice and her sister Princess Eugenie looked like something out of Alice in Wonderland. As as for Victoria Beckham? “Posh Spice looked as if she was auditioning for the Joel Grey part in Cabaret. What did she have on her head? Some sort of cash register with antennae?”

If you don’t care then why are you reading the page, much less taking time to leave a comment…

I love Beatrice’s hat! Though it does look Gagaesque.

    • Brock

Agreed. It was a complete showstopper. I thought it was fun, a real show stopper.

  • Paisley

    Isn’t that Eugenie?

  • BoredBrit

Yawn! My tax money goes to support this farce. I’m not sure the entertainment provided by the silly hats made up for the outrageous costs!

“Poor” Princess Beatrice? Hardly. Before today I vaguely knew she and her sister existed, and certainly had no clue who was who. Now she’ll get her name and pic plastered next to the bride’s for all time. Mission accomplished. And there was a hideous head (hat) to toe royal blue thing that was far more ridiculous than anything Posh wore.

Joan’s Fashion Police show is one of the funniest half hours of the week for me. I couldn’t care less about the wedding but I can’t wait to see her show tonight.

That hat is one of a kind, its beautiful you go girl show it off.

I loved that hat. So many of the hats were bizarre, yet amazing for a Royal Wedding.

What most people don’t realize is that the hat was actually more than an accessory. They will use it later in the evening as a festive game, to see who can throw the most beanbags through it. From what I understand, it’s a traditional English Wedding tradition, and takes place between the toasts and the Father/Bride dance.

    • Altair

Haha, you used ‘tradition’ twice in the same sentence. For shame!!

  • Bluestocking

Beatrice looks like MEDUSA! Spooky makeup face, snaky hat. A Greek tragedy.

  • Stephanie T.

Yes folks! Silly Putty can be made into a hat.

    • Lorie

      FTW!

I think that hat is awesome.

Knew there was going to be a lot of hat rediculata, and I think this hat is fantastic!

Did anyone read in The Guardian UK that Kate’s dress was a “fist pump” for British fashion when it was a throwback to an American actress’s Hollywood wardrobe department designed dress … I thin Joan may have a comment about that as well.

Did anyone read in The Guardian UK that Kate’s dress was a “fist pump” for British fashion when, in fact, it was a throwback to an American actress’s Hollywood wardrobe department designed dress … I think Joan may have a comment about that as well. Uh, hurray for Hollywood.
