Paws up, GleeMonsters! In a special super-sized episode clocking in at 90 gleekin’ minutes, it looks like we’re in for some big diva ‘tude tonight. The McKinley kids take some pointers in self acceptance from two Queens of Self Love, Lady Gaga and Barbra Streisand. Tina and Mercedes (yay for under-utilized main cast members!) are tackling the ultimate love-yourself anthem “Born This Way,” while Rachel and Quinn team up with a sweet “I Feel Pretty”/”Unpretty” mashup, which sounds pretty awesome. Judging from a strategically placed Band-Aid, it looks like Rachel might take the lyrics of the 90′s TLC hit to heart (“You can fix your nose if he says so”) by trying to shave down the schnoz, but she shouldn’t! It’s her best feature, and what would Rachel do without the Babs comparisons?

It looks like there’s plenty of other stuff going on to pack tonight’s XL episode, including Kurt’s return to New Directions (this looks like a farewell song! awwww…), Finn’s turn as Sammy Davis, Jr., and the exciting race for prom queen (avoid the spoiler scandalamity if you can!).

So are your DVRs adjusted for the extra-long episode? What inspirational anthem are you most looking forward to? Does Kurt belong in New Directions or the Warblers? Can Lauren Zizes win prom queen? Before, during, and after the episode, sound off about the return of Glee here, and check back early in the morning for our recap!

Kurt absolutely belongs in the New Directions! No question. His friends in the New Directions love him just as he is; they don’t make him conform in order to gain their acceptance the way the Warblers did.

    • Clifford

The Warblers were established before Kurt joined them. Why should they change their group just for him?

    • Geek

WHAT WAS that Barbara Streisand number??? That was easily the worst “song” ever featured on the show.

      • harpier

Okay, so I do think the “Barbara Streisand” flashdance sequence was a mediocre attempt to recapture the magic of Artie’s “Safety Dance” flashdance number from last season. However, it does make the point quite well that Streisand has permeated pop culture at every level, including electronic pop DJ duo Duck Sauce’s biggest hit…naturally titled “Barbara Streisand”. Not a hugely memorable Glee number, but not horrible either.

      • Laura K.

        It’s Barbra.

  • jpratm

    yuck lady caca

    • Amy

I agree, I am so sick of hearing this song on the radio. I change the station anytime it comes on and it is usually is on more than one of my preset’s at a time. I am over it.

    • Zoe

I have no problem with Lady Gaga, but ANOTHER episode focusing on her? There ARE other artists out there, Glee.

      • RUCookie

        it was one song people…

      • Tina

I love that Madonna song but the did that already with Sue. Its coolhow they used Express Yourself but changed the lyrics

      • gio

it was just one song. and Will said it himself, nobody else can pull off self-acceptance nowadays better than the reigning queen of it — Gaga.

    • YayForYou

Wow! I can’t believe no one has come up with that Lady Caca thing before! You are so original! You win!

    • katie

I just have to ask – what the heck is up with Quinn’s footwear this season? She is always wearing dresses with socks and some weird bootie/witch shows. What the heck?

      • jenna

Right? I thought I was the only one bothered by this. I mean she went from the most popular cheerleader to someone who dresses like the little match girl?

      • katie

Thank you Jenna! It totally weirds me out. Why would they make her wear this? No one wears socks/booties with sundresses. I do not get it!

  • kate

Rachel Berry is perfect. She shouldn’t change anything because she has talent which is the most beautiful quality a person can have.

    • Josh

She is far from perfect, and I worry for those who find her to be. If you want to talk about the most beautiful quality a person can have, talent is far down the list. Rachel lacks in any quality that would make her a decent human being. Conceit and egocentricity are all she has.

      • julie

She’s no more conceited or egotistical than any other Glee character. But Rachel is also empathetic (see her reaching out to Kurt this season and Quinn last season), diligent (none of the other Gleeks work hard at anything Glee-related), and supportive (just last week encouraging Mercedes to work for her solo). I don’t hink Rachl (or any other Glee character) is perfect, but you’re an idiot if you can’t see that Rachel is so much more interesting and complex than just those 2 characteristics you cited.

      • Harry the Hephalump

        Preach, Julie! I totally agree.

  • Jackson

Rachel’s whole nose job storyline is what I’m most looking forward too.

    And the Rachel/Quinn duet.

    • Jackson

      *to

    • julie

Me, too. I’m glad Kurt’s back at McKinley, but only because maybe the show will have more focus. That storyline has really sucked the fun out of the show.

      • tommymommy

Sooooo disagree. Kurt and Blaine have a great storyline and they are what keep me coming back week after week.

  • Daniel

Ugh. Yet another night of tornados here in central Arkansas. So no Glee until posted online b/c weather people want us to be safe.

    • Cece

I’m so sorry that real lives are more important to some people than a tv show featuring inane characters and storylines.

      • Daniel

such a hater. /sigh @ your ability to recognize tongue and cheek.

      • Jacob

        Cece,
It really bugs me when my favorite TV show comes on, like Glee, during a bad storm b/c the weather people butt in. I mean seriously, do i have to know what the people at Busch Stadium are doing? NO! i dont care about them because why should they waste 30 mins of TV doing NOTHING!!!! they didnt even talk about the weather! They just talked for 30 mins on how die hard cardinals fans wouldnt get up and leave! I mean yes saftey is important but, you could just show the TV show and wait till a commercial or something instead of taking up the whole program.
And by the way, if this show was SO stupid, why would millions of people watch it every week?

    • Chris

Stay safe! I’ll be watching Glee online too tomorrow but not because of the weather. I just prefer it that way.

      • Chris

@Daniel I know this is off-topic, but sometimes in Minnesota when we have bad weather they’ll rebroadcast popular shows in the middle of the night, so we can at least DVR them. Last year (spring&summer)seemed like every night was awful, terrorizing weather. Hope you are safe.

    • Cath

      Be safe, Daniel…

  • Flip

All I wanna see is some TERRI action!!! She is my favourite character, and after last week’s episode, I hope they follow up on her subplot and give her lots to do tonight. Jessalyn Gilsig is ama-za-zing.

    • Hmmmm

This must be a disappointing show for you mostly.

      • liam

I agree with flip, there’s something I enjoy about Terri that I can’t put my finger on.

      • Clifford

Sounds like you want to put your “finger” in it.

  • Jenny

Rachel whats-her-face is annoying. I wanna see KLAINE!!!

  • kat

I JUST WANT SOME MORE OF THE FLAWLESS SANTANA LOPEZ

    • Clarke

      THIS

    • steph

anyone else think her lips looked huuuuuge tonight?

      • Vanessa

        Yes!

  • MORE RACHEL BERRY

I’m glad that Rachel is getting a (potentially) decent story in this episode. WOO-HOO!! She’s my favorite character! LOVE HER!!!

    • Hermione the Hephalump

      TOTALLY AGREE. RACHEL/LEA FTW.

  • maurice

i am just trying to fight the urge to watch “the killing” on “on demand;” it pains me to say this but “Glee” just doesn’t do it for me anymore. I am happy that it gets other comfortable with themselves but it doesn’t speak to me anymore. I don’t think it is that compelling. hopefully season 3 will be better.

    • jeannette

Do yourself a favor and watch Forbrydelsen! The Killing is a remake of Forbrydelsen and it really is a poor substitute.

      • maurice

really b/c i love “the killing”

      • Killing fan

Anyone know how to get DVDs of forbrydel sen in us format subtitles? I looked on amazon and Netflix and it doesn’t seem like it was released in the us

  • maurice

ok wait, “GLEE” barely does r&b and they do TLC and did they just folk it up?

    • Sina

If u remember the real version sounded folksy like. It didnt sound like a rnb song.

      • maurice

true but they took it all the way to folks-ville; i guess i am just gonna say it: when it comes to r&b, hip hop, and black characters glee leaves me crying.

  • Electronic Neko

Okay, Rachel is 16. She couldn’t have surgery without her dads’ permission. So this story line is really bugging me.

I’m enjoying Quinn and Rachel’s duet, though, especially since Lea has to avoid relying on glory notes like she usually does

    • Abe

I agree. Where are her dads?

    • Snsetblaze

It was bugging me too. Especially since its probably considered elective surgery and they probably have to pay for it.

  • Shannon

Everything that just came out of Santana’s mouth to Karofsky was gold. Then again, everything that comes out of Santana’s mouth is gold. (Her lines, perverts. Her lines.)

    • Cath

      Yes!

  • Shannon

    Ow… My hearstrings. Kurt!
I love the keys around his neck. He’s free all right. Poor whittle Blaine.

    • Shannon

      *heartstrings

  • maurice

didn’t we cover some of this (not the whole backstory) last season with Quinn and Mercedees? I preferred that storyline, just uhg!
