The Office‘s star-studded Season 7 finale just got a little more interesting. Last night, EW learned that Jim Carrey will appear on the hour-long episode that airs May 19, joining previously announced guests Ricky Gervais, Will Arnett, James Spader, Ray Romano, and Catherine Tate. All six will be playing potential replacements for the dearly departed Michael Scott, who’s set to leave Scranton in next Thursday’s installment.
It’s safe to say that none of these boldface names will be sticking around for much longer than one episode (or, more likely, a few minutes of screen time during which they’re each interviewed and summarily dismissed from Dunder Mifflin). Even so, we can dream of a magical world in which Gob Bluth, Ace Ventura, David Brent, or even Ron Burgundy became a permanent fixture at Sabre’s wackiest branch. Which one, though, would make the best World’s Best Boss? Vote in our poll to let us know who you’re rooting for most.

Catherine Tate would be amazing! I hope they keep her around.
Catherine Tate is one of the funniest women – no, wait – people on television. It’s too bad her fan base isn’t as big over in North America as it is in the U.K. But man oh man, she is priceless. Would LOVE to see her as Michael Scott’s replacement (although in an ideal world, Carell wouldn’t leave).
In a perfect world, anyone other than Jim Carrey… hell, I’d rather have Drew Carey.
Forget the replacement, they just need to put it out of its misery. It hasn’t been funny for years. Let it go out with what dignity it still has left..
Will Arnett would be great if it was a fresh character and not just an amalgamation of other characters he’s played.
Also, Jason Bateman would do a swell job, too; he’d fit in with the Office folks. Just NOT Ferrell or Carrey, please. Please.
Will Arnett… BLECH!!!!
Is he a jerk, or is he Michael Scott 2.0? Pick one! Not a fan of DeAngelo Vickers.
I think everyone is so focused on having, like said above, michael scott 2.0, the funny goof off who is generally more concerned with everything that’s not serious, I love steve carrel and I don’t think anyone can ever truly replace him, which is why I think they shouldn’t try for someone like him,so out of those I’d love to see James Spader with his dry with and deadpan delivery. But then i’d just like to see him in anything.
Charlie Sheen, so he can use all his euphemisms and create an even wilder wk. environment
plus, whatever show he goes on next is gonna have crazy ratings
Rhys Darby…by far, one of the most awkwardly funny people in the universe…he was born for this role
Yes!! Rhys Darby would be perfect!!
Comeon its gotta be Jason Bateman. Lets get this thing done.
Glad to see a woman on the list. Don’t think too many people considered replacing Michael with a female character. But instead of doing stunt casting, I’d like to see David Wallace move to Scranton and try to head up the office. Maybe the realities of his failed “suck it” toy picker-upper invention have forced him to go back to Dunder Mifflin.
I’d go with David Wallace, too.
Michael Cera as some young, out of college kid with a major in business would be awesome.
Jim Gaffigan
Love this idea. Jim Gaffigan would be awesome…do a camping episode.
Rhys Darby
Ricky Gervais for sure!
