Hello! Steve Martin and John Goodman. Respect the funny.
I think Steve Martin should have been on the list and is probably the best “across the decades” host. Right now, however, I just think JT is great at diving into whatever hot mess of skits they have for him and he does not mind being the brunt of a joke. The last few times I have heard anything from Steve Martin, he seems a little over it all in that he is not into the fame or the crazyness of it all, but rather into his art, collections, etc. I loved what he has done with physical comedy, but for my money on current shows, I think JT is the one to watch!
The top SNL hosts will always be Alec Baldwin & Steve Martin ( and maybe Christopher Walkin ) . They are the elder statesmen of hosting SNL. Currently, Justin Timberlake, Anne Hathaway, and Jon Hamm are the young guns that have also done stellar and memorable work on SNL. Sadly, Hathaway is the only actress in that company.
Alec Baldwin is TOPS. Hands Down!!
There is no way in any universe that Timberlake is a better host than Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin and Christopher Walken. John Hamm has only hosted a couple of times, but even he has heaps more talent.
I am pretty sure JT has only hosted TWICE. He has made some guest appearances on Update and in the Beyonce skit. I could be wrong…
What is wrong is leaving Steve Martin off this list!
I hereby order that anyone who hosts SNL cannot be considered for “Greatest Host Ever” until he/she has been accepted into the Five-Timers Club.
I think Justin is the best for the overall episode. I love Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin but for me, their episodes have become a bit stale as of late. JT’s performances are just so brilliant all the time!
