Emma Watson introduces the trailer for 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 2' videogame -- EXCLUSIVE

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2, the final film in the blockbuster movie franchise, brings to a close a few other long-running aspects of the Harry Potter franchise, as well. Among them: the last official videogame adaptation, due in stores July 12, just three days before the opening of the film. The Harry Potter videogames from publisher Electronic Arts and developer EA Bright Light Studios have gotten better as the series has progressed, with the recent installments doing a commendable job of capturing the darkening tone of J.K. Rowling’s stories and making wand fighting actually rather fun and cool. Judging from the cinema-style trailer for Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (which includes a brief, friendly intro from Hermione’s movie alter-ego, Emma Watson), EA intends to go out with its biggest bang yet. Although I have to admit, what sticks with me the most from this spot isn’t the demonstration of how the game plays, but the sick sight of Hogwarts under catastrophic siege by Lord Voldemort’s forces. Based on what I know of the movie, these images are a pretty accurate representation of the all-out wizarding war that awaits us on the big screen this summer. Check out the trailer below:

Thoughts?

PS: Now, when can we see a little bit of Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7?

I’ve never played any of the video games before. I need to get them.

The first Deathly Hallows game was crap. This looks like more of the same. No thanks, I’ll just take the movie.

      • locolukah

Agreed. Now the Lego Harry Potter game was a lot of fun…but avoid Deathly Hallows like the plague…it was complete arse!

I LOVE playing Part 1 on Kinect, cannot wait to get Part 2 as long as the gameplay is the same or improved *swish & flick* I never even played the regular game itself, I just like flinging my arms around cast spells like a big kid!

    I WANT.

  • Jose

Now when will we see the trailer for the movie!?!

  • K

ugh….the first in utter S***!!! Not even enjoyable for hardcore HP7 fans. I expect more of the same crap.

    • Jason

Yeah, they don’t even try putting effort in these games..

      • Detona

This is going to be much better than part 1, and you obviously don’t work in games because a lot of effort goes into making this!

      • Liz Lemon

They actually do put in a lot of effort, which is why I’m shocked when people say they suck. It may have something to do with the makers trying to keep up with the movies, so they only have about 1-2 years to develop the game. Whereas, most of the good games like Modern Warfare 2, Heavy Rain, Black Ops, etc. have been in development for around 5 years. It took them about 6 years to develop the Lego Harry Potter game and I’ve heard that it’s brilliant.

      • Jason

Well, they clearly don’t care about creating quality products.

      • K

        Effort doesnt always equal quality.

I generally try to keep a level head about things, but “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ is one of the WORST videogames I’ve ever played. (Unless, you’re REALLY a fan of the Stupefy spell.)

Don’t get sucked into this one.

I’m looking forward to the next Lego/Harry Potter game. I was addicted to the 1st until I beat it 3 times — I’m still tempted to play, though, when I’m really bored.

    • C

Absolutely. I also grew up on the PC games. Haven’t played any of them since 3. Maybe it’s time to revisit the franchise.

  • Tor

I put Lego HP: 1-4 on my iPhone this week. It was a HUGE mistake. I haven’t been able to get anything done since then because I’m obsessed with this engaging, merry, and flat-out fun little game!
    Are the console versions longer?

    • Maeve

Hard to say — I haven’t played on the iPhone. It took me about 3 hours a day for a week to finish the game. Good thing I’m a stay-at-home mom with a teenager who doesn’t need (or want) much of my attention. lol

This Harry Potter Game does look much more thrilling than part 1. Part 1 was good but this makes you want to play it.I am a big fan and can’t wait till the second part comes out. Game looks great.Keep it up!:)
