If Jennifer Lopez has her way, Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart will remain comfortably ensconced on the velvet benches of safety during tonight’s American Idol results show, while one of the six male finalists will finally go home. Sorry, J.Lo. Last week, I predicted an all-male bottom three (yeah, not so much), but this week, alas, I’m afraid that Haley’s perfectly pleasant performance of “Call Me” — which caused Randy to invoke the dreaded “k” word (i.e. karaoke) — may reacquaint her with the silver stools of doom. Who will join her? With Stefano’s triumphant full-court pimpage likely boosting him to safety, recent history suggests the safe bet is on Paul McDonald and Jacob Lusk. But in a season as wildly unpredictable as this one, I’m wondering if Scotty McCreery’s decision to sing the decidedly old fashioned country song “I Cross My Heart” — and his cringe-y, off-pitch high note at the end — may severely dampen his support and send him to the bottom three for the first time. (Yeah, probably not.)

Haley is third from the bottom on dialidol but since dialidol doesn’t factor in text or e-mail votes, I’m sad to report Haley is going home. However, I do like watching slow-motion Idol train wrecks and Sausage Fest 2011 is epic. If Haley goes, then Lauren turns in a Jacob the following week and leaves, then that would be the Chernobyl…a complete Idol meltdown. The national discussion and embarrassment and damage control would be far more entertaining than who actually wins this year.
Haley is NOT 3rd from the bottom on Dialidol, idiot. Only 2 people, Jacob and Scotty, are considered safe, according to Dialidol. All the other ones are at risk of being in the bottom 3, dummy. Learn how to read the DialIdol results, fool.
Paul is not going. That girl saxophonist that performed with him was the respected jazz artist Mindi Abair. She was enough to get him votes right there. That girl Mindi is amazing.
My friend works for a phone line company so he knew a little bit of information, just a little though. The only thing he knew was that Casey and Lauren were not popular with the phone lines.
@Mina, You’re right, it’s even worse, going by the raw score, Haley is tied with Paul, 2nd lowest, with Casey last. That won’t change the result. Haley, pack your knifes and leave.
Mina, Wasn’t Pia in the green declared safe by Dial Idol last week? Dial Idol is useless and hasn’t been relevant the last couple seasons.

Mr. Temecula, it’s obvious dialidol is completely irrelevant. They barely state anything with certainty anyway (to hedge their bets) but the one thing they did state with absolute authority last week was that Pia was in the top 3. Although it scares me that Casey is last (I do think a lot of his fans vote by phone and I don’t want him to go)… Haley may be okay with texts and online voting that are not figured in. Jacob or Stefano I would be fine with seeing leave but I really would like to see another “shocker” and have Scotty go.
Paul should definitely go home. Come on…Haley’s performance was way better.
Paul should never have made the top 24. Unfortunately, Haley will go this week and Lauren will go next week in adherence to this season’s “no chicks” rule.

Are you threatening Paul? With the caps lock it sounds kind of like a threat. Paul is just following his dream. There is no need to do harm to someone who is just doing their dream.
I agree with the mw 3 above, and think Paul should go home…but it is all a crap shoot right now because the judges are STILL not evaluating the singers even in the wake of their dismay that Pia was sent home. All we had was JLo going on about how no girls should go home this week (indirectly advocating that a guy be evicted). Until the judges are willing to say we think x is good and y isn’t, each weeks result show is going to be volatile and unpredictable.
I totally agree with you. I couldn’t believe they were praising Jacob for just an OK performance. I don’t think he’s lived up to his best song, which was “God Bless the Child.”
JLo’s comments pretty much sealed Haley’s fate (although personally I think her affected vocals should have done her in ages ago.) One minute she says she can’t criticize anyone because they’re all so good, the next she’s like “oh except you, but you’re a girl and I don’t want you to go.” (I’m paraphrasing but we all know that’s how the viewers heard it.) JLo, if there’s some guys you think deserve to be sent home more (and clearly you do judging by your reaction last week) maybe you should speak up and critique everyone instead of singling one or two people out each week. She’s not great, but neither are a lot of the guys you continually lavish praise on.

Bottom three will be Paul, Haley and Stefano. Possibility of Jacob or Lauren being there; a guy will definitely be going home tonight.
I said Paul, Haley and Stefano also..but wish it would be Scotty and Jacob as they have had so many chances to wow us and it is same old – same old – and boring. James is my favorite. and I wish Pia was still there.

My favourite part of the show was Jimmy Iovine telling him “you don’t have an album out, no one cares what you think, quit preaching to people” that was awesome! and I thought Stefano was embarrassingly bad but they liked it?! and Scotty’s smirk and weird mic-holding gets on my nerves

My wife predicted that Haley, Paul, and Stefano would be in the bottom three. I thought Jacob was more tentative (my wife called it humbled) and may be in the bottom three.
My friends and I noticed that Jacob seemed a bit subdued. I don’t know if he was humbled or if he was just in a snit because Jimmy called him out on his preachy attitude.
Jacob looked miserable because he wasn’t doing the song he wanted to do.

This was a bad week all around, but Paul is ridiculous. He needs to go into another line of work.

Paul actually put on his best show last night which may save him, but he hasn’t got a voice that I would pay to listen to. He is long overdue for going home. He should have went instead of either Pia or Thia.
To Oldsnit, Paul is actually usually better than that. His other performances were much better. The loud band was over powering and Paul will find that out when he watches his performance on TV. There is a big difference between TV viewing and live stage listening.

…and that is what really, really counts. If you had to buy a CD who would you prefer to listen to? It really shouldn’t be a personality contest. Who has the best and most unique voice..NOT paul, NOT haley, NOT stefano..
Can’t see what the fuss is all about on Paul. I know dance moves are not AI, but he seems ackward and having a case of cerebral palsy, it isn’t pleasant to watch.
Casey is another one over-rated, his choice last night was plain ole’ dull!
Thankfully Jacob toned it down a bit, Haley, James & Lauren rocked and Stefano gave it his all!
Scotty needs to change it up a bit, he’s becoming way too predictable and is sounding the same week after week!

I agree, Casey is overrated, Paul totally sucks, but instead of Stefano who is kind of weak, I would vote to send Jacob home. He has a great voice except when he does that low crying sound in every song. That just grates on my nerves. Send him home.
Casey is not overrated. Hes the only one that I would pay to listen to. While I wasn’t a huge fan of last night’s song choice, I like jazz and he has huge potential. That is why I don’t think he should win. We’ve already seen that Jimmy and the other producers would want him doing what they want.
Casey is a true “artiste” – a “varied performer” – a great “entertainer”. Whether he wins this competition or not, he’s going to reach the pinnacles in the music industry in no time. So will Pia who was sent home last week. As for Paul, he will have no problem in finding work at a circus with his outfits. Although Jacob has a great voice, he tends to overdo his yodling, whining and crying to the viewers’ annoyance. Like to see him go – and become a minister at his church instead. James Durbin is a great kid – but very much overrated by all – and his performance last night appealed only to a very small crowd. But he seems to attract the teeeny weenies’ votes. I like Scotty – but only as a Coutry singer – he cannot sing “out-of-the-box”. Stefano has a fabulous voice but he doesn’t have much support from the viewers unlike the other guys. As for the remaining girls, they are both great. Lauren has the next best female voice after Pia but Lauren has better stage appeal.

I love “low crying sound” and I so agree, it bugs the cr_p out of me!!! Soooo melodramatic . . . but great for broadway, and yes, Jacob can kill in Gospel . . .watered down here is not showing his best. I think he’s going home. Jazz is usually the kiss of death here, but I think Casey will hit the stools then make it through. Haley may have talked too much, so I can see her visit the bottom too.

I love how people thing Casey is so unique and a true artist, when every other song he sings appeared in Moulin Rouge. Smells Like Teen Spirit, Your Song, Nature Boy…next he’ll be snarling through Roxanne or creeping us out with Like a Virgin.
Not that there’s anything wrong with Moulin Rouge (my fave movie, in fact) but somebody needs to call him out on not being as supposedly arty and obscure as people think he is.
Well, Baz Luhrmann, who directed “Moulin Rouge!” is an artist and unique. It’s not like the songs in that movie are all from one group or performer. Maybe great minds think alike. I honestly don’t think Casey realizes that he’s done this. I mean “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was his birth year song… it was *the* song of that year. Maybe the decade. And “Your Song” is Elton. I don’t think of Ewan MacGregor and Nicole Kidman when I think of that song. Now, “Nature Boy,” might be most familiar to younger people from “Moulin Rouge!” especially because the melody was used as a recurring theme even without the vocals. But I love Casey, regardless.
Casey is the ONLY one I would pay to hear.
Casey is a niche artist. I enjoy what he does, but I can understand why many people don’t care for him. He won’t stand a chance on pop radio. That’s ok, though. Matt Giraud is making a name for himself as a jazz artist, and Casey can succeed there too.
Casey is the only one I’d pay to see as well. And speaking of Moulin Rouge, I’d LOVE him to sing Roxane. Loved what he did with Nature Boy. Just wish his Jessica Rabbit version of Why Don’t You Do Right was available for download along with Georgia.

At least Jacob, while inconsistent, has had several fantastic performances on this show and he has an amazing voice. God Bless the Child, A House is not a Home, and You’re All I need to get by. Sorry to all the 40 y/o moms with no lives who disagree, but he obviously has more talent than Paul. Paul needs to go.

Paul has already concert toured with the Zac Brown Band, and Sara Bareilles. Just because you don’t like his music style does not mean he will be in hillbilly bars. He is from Alabama, so he is used to the Blues music type of stuff–there is nothing wrong with American Idol having Blues music on the show.

Joan, I agree with you totally, these comments are rude. These young people are amazing, every single one of them. Each one is great in their own way, I love American Idol this year, especially since they got rid of Simon and his rude, obnoxious comments. For the most part, these guys and gals are improving every week, which I found was not the case in other years, with Simon deflating their egos. The judges are awsome! I love Casey, but we will see what happens!

Buddy, you hit the nail on the head. Those are my picks as well. I don’t look at individual songs, I look at the overall track record of performance and those three are not strong enough to stay.
don’t know what you are watching… Casey is the only artist left in the competition. I do, however, see him going tonight because of this multitude of people who cant see true artistry past today’s wall of pop.

I agree that overall track record should be the main factor and that, if you’re going by that alone, Stefano should easily be in the bottom three. But the truth is, I think you should also take into account, at least somewhat, how good their performance that week was. So, by that measure, Stefano has probably saved himself another week, not that he was phenomenal this time.
My bottom three: Paul, Jacob, & Scotty (he’s been good, but this week, he was bad — and he got drowned out by his own back-up singers); Paul should go home.
Actual bottom 3: Casey, Haley, & Jacob, with Haley getting unfairly kicked out of the Idol boys club.

I am getting SICK of Randy picking on Haley, and J.Lo & Seven always follow. What do they have against her??? She has a nice personality, can sing just as good (& better than half the others), and she doesn’t stand like a statue. They apparantly have a grudge.
When it was announced that Pia was going home last week, Haley seemed quite happy. She was smiling great big, and then whispered something into Casey’s ear. Girl needs to learn some tact.
To my recollection, Randy has definitely not picked on Hayley every week; the only person that they’ve really given criticism week after week was Pia, and even then, it was barely criticism, just that she should try something different.
I agree about picking on Haley. I don’t see how she meritted the only negative comment of the night. The keep taking about how unique Pauls voice is but it’s just weird, and how Scotty has this “style” which involves making every song sound the same. Criticism of both those guys is long overdue. I also didn’t understand him raving about Casey, I thought his performance showed they wasted their save.
As lon as Haley, Casey, and James are safe I’m good with any of the rest of them leaving

I think bottom 3 = Haley, Jacob and Paul. We’ll see. Not sure who will go. Scotty is sweet, and even has some talent, but he is over-rated and the judges lick his boots constantly. Felt his performance last night was not good.
Now that Pia is gone it doesn’t matter. This season has already spawned its star and it is her.
