'American Idol': Who will go home tonight?

idol-cuts

For the first time this season, there’s a very good chance the bottom three on American Idol will all be guys. For one, there are only three girls left, and for another, Haley, Lauren, and Pia were all standout performers during Rock and Roll Hall of Fame night. Put it this way: If any of these three ladies are in the bottom this week, the chatter that Idol has a “women problem” will only grow that much louder.

So who will be in the bottom three this week? Based on past results shows, and a certain contestant’s rather bold statement last night about what would place him in the bottom three, I’m thinking Jacob, Stefano, and Paul could be warming the silver stools of doom around 8:50 p.m. ET. But who will go home? I’m leaving that prediction up to you — vote in the poll below, and then make your case for why in the comments:

Jacob Lusk because he was a A Hole. Or it could be Stefano because he did a song that is too over played. It better NOT be Paul because he was entertaining and every week he picks a fantastic song choice.

    • Jethro

It isn’t going to be Jacob, unfortunately Stefano is going home. This is a very political show and the bad ones always stay on longer than they should. It’s gonna be a shocker tonight!

      • hah

If Stefano goes home that is *NOT* a shocker.

      • BeBe

Stephano should NOT go home! Since Idol is a popularity contest he might.

      • oh

If you are a true fan and Stefano should not go home..then why do you NOT know his correct name. It’s Stefano..not ph

      • BeBe

Oh boo… who cares how I spelled it

      • MikeB

Stephano should go home as the weakest of the singers, but will go through on his looks and tean beat appeal.

      • Sammy

If you could vote for who you want to go home then Jacob would be out.

      • saundra harbison

Let’s get real for a change. Jacob can not sing, he screamed out MJ’s most precious song. It was an insult to MJ and his family for making such a miserable mess of one of Michael Jackson’s greatest hits!

      • LOL

I just found out that Nikki Reed called Paul her new boyfriend. Crazy, Paul McDonald could do So much better than that Twilight cheesy girl. She does not seem real.

      • LOL

I hope he never gets mono from her. He needs his voice to perform. Don’t get sick Paul.

      • WHAT

Somebody tell him NO. Help him! He will get MONO or something else.

    • this

Bottom 3: Jacob, Lauren, Stefano. That is my guess. I think this is the week I might be correct.

      • joe

I don’t. But I’m rooting for you anyway.

      • Lincoln

        Joe made me lol.

      • jg

i now jacob is bad but james is going to win idol

    • mama

I agree with you… Jacob thinks he is all that. Not a good attitude. I wonder if these Judges are deaf?

    • LOL

Hopefully all of them. This show is crap.

      • Tarc

        Troll.

    • stevenjaba

It won’t be Paul because he was last, and fun. I think Casey could surprise us again and be in the bottom 3, along w/ Jacob and Stefano. No one is mentioning Casey as bottom 3 material, because his performance was good. However, his fan base is obviously not strong and he flew under the radar this week.

    • Jay

Your out of your mind if you think PAUL will win. Should of been gone long ago…

    • LM

I agree. What an arrogant jerk. ‘If I don’t get the votes, it’s not because I didn’t sing well — it’s because you couldn’t look int he mirror”. Maybe he should look in the mirror and see he could go on a diet.

      • Meh

        Lmao!

    • Shannon

Paul’s voice irks me, but I really would like Jacob to go home after that spewage (both in words and in song).
I don’t know why he felt like bashing America’s self-image last night, but he went about it all wrong. Finger-pointing is not the way to instill positive change.

  • dipshat

    Paul:Bottom Three
    Jacob: Bottom two
    Stefano: Out of here
(Jacob COULD be the one to go, but he has not been in the bottom three yet, so…

  • Kate

I think both Stephano and Paul have been walking on thin ice for a few weeks now and there were just some weaker performers to be rid of first. I don’t think Stephano did so much better than Paul last night and I think Paul still has a little good will with the audience from the fact he seems like a nice guy who has a sense of humor and then his performance last night led to the hoedown shenigans that brought a smile to the audience’s faces. And I don’t know where Jacob’s popularity was that just the comment would have him fall below those two at this point. Mind you, if I was picking it, it would be Stephano tonight, Paul next week, Jacob the following week.

  • Katie

Jacob not only made that antagonizing statement, but also went first. He’s outta here.

  • Jacob Lusk

YOU ALL JUST HATE ME BECAUSE I AM A BLACK GAY AND HAVE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS WHEN I SING THAT MAKE ME LOOK LIKE I AM BEING TORTURED!!!!! YOU NEED TO LOOK AT YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR, AMERICA!!!

    • Donna

So sorry you feel the world hates you because you are a “black guy”.
You have talent, but if you are going to bring up race, then I vote you off.

      • Margie

Jacob did NOT bring up race. You all assumed it.

      • Brian C

Umm, I think he was referring to his sexual orientation not the color of his skin

      • Rhonda

“black gay” Donna not ” black guy”. Thats the point of the joke

    • Pat Holden

SURLY JACOB IS JOKING. THAT COMMENT WAS HIS TICKET HOME TONIGHT!!!! I HAD JACOB AS NUMBER 1 AFTER AUDITIONS, BUT POOR SINGING OR SHOULD I SAY SCREAMING PLACES JACOB AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HEAP ALONG WITH STEFANO AND PAUL.

    • BonQui-qui

Margie, he did bring up race. Didn’t you just read his comment here? LOL. By the way, no one is hoping you get voted off because you’re black. It’s ’cause you are just way tooooo sassy for your own good. I can’t help but picture you snapping your fingers in a z-formation shoutin’ “work it, honey. work it!”

      • May

Oh, please. Do you actually think that is the real Jacob? rofl

      • George W. Bush

Of course that comment was from the real Jacob Lusk. EW would never allow someone to post under a phony name, dipwit.

      • Hillary Clinton

        You’re so right.

  • guess

Even though Paul is at the bottom of dialidol, I don’t think he will be going home. Last week Stefano was at the bottom of dialidol and he was not in the bottom 3. That website is mixed up. I think Jacob, Stefano or Lauren will go.

    • t

That website is never accurate. What a stupid website.

      • mama

That is not true… often accurate in previous seasons. But the voting online takes away some of that… they can’t measure those votes.

      • stevenjaba

they predicted the week that Casey was in the bottom. But yes, otherwise, they are usually wrong.

      • Cara

You need to actually read Dial Idol’s explanation of their math and their predictions. They are only predicting three things this week, and that’s that Scotty, James, and Pia are safe. They claim that everything else is within their margin of error.

    • Dan

Hold your mouse over the yellow, red, or green balls on dialidol. The site itself warns about margin of error. Also… the internet voting has to make their error margin even higher.

      • JB

Not to mention texting. I find myself voting via text almost exclusively this year.

    • Pearlie

There’s nothing wrong with DialIdol, you guys are just STUPID. Only those in the green (Scotty, Pia, James) are predicted to be safe. Any of the rest (in the yellow) are at risk of going home; Paul is NOT in the bottom, he’s tied with a bunch of people. Read the directions since you’re too dumb to figure it out. They’ve been right every week.

      • Squishmar

Well, it looks like you can throw their predictions out the window every week now… even who is presumably, “definitely” safe.

  • Dommerdog

Jacob. The talent is so good at this stage of the competition that an arrogant, boneheaded remark will serve as an excuse to make what would otherwise have been a painful decision. Each week’s elimination after this is going to be a gutwrencher. Jacob eliminated the gutwrench factor for this week by letting us know how chickensh*t he thinks we are.

    • Smeg Ma

He was only joking! My GAWD! I would like to believe that not a single American took his comment to heart. I mean, WTF. Are we all that stupid?

      • Templar

        Don’t rule it out.

  • Corey

Paul’s performance was one of the best so I doubt he’s the one to go. My bet is with Jacob or Stefano.

  • luckyduck4u

Jacob SHOULD go, based on his rude, self-indulgent comment, but since he has yet to sit on the stools of doom, I think it will be either Paul or Stefano – it should be Paul, but it really doesn’t matter. They all suck.

  • Ron

Tired of Jacob being a DRAMA QUEEN.
This is when I miss Simon.
Love the new judges but they are not critical enough!

    Time to go home Jacob!

    • mama

I miss Simon… there is no sense in the Judging this year. It’s all about LOVE.

      • candacetx

        everything is just “beautiful”…dawg

      • Tarc

Personally, it will be much too soon if we every see Cowell’s fugly, talent vampire mug on TV again.

      • saundra harbison

        AMEN TO THAT!!

    • nda

I wasn’t missing Simon until last night. Randy’s the only one willing to criticize, and even then it’s turning into a boring lovefest.

  • Kevin

Can’t we just have another double elimination and get rid of both Jacob and Stefano?

    • jrs

I vote “hell yea”. that’s exactly what should happen!

    • Nath

I am all for that. Stefano should go but man just for this comment. Jacob need to go. U kidding me!! With so much competition thats what you said. Crazy!!!!

    • Lois

No, Paul needs to go first. He’s awful!!!

  • Fran V

Lauren was a standout performer? Surely you’re kidding.

    • Ktct

@Fran: thank you. I thought I was the only one who felt that way!

    • Mike

      AMEN! She was so forgettable.

      Haley even worse.

    • Zach

I know, right? But Mike, you are entirely wrong about Haley! She was excellent.

      • JI

I guess you have low expectations then. If she was ugly, you probably wouldn’t like her.

      • Zach

Wrong. I just Haley’s singing and performance aesthetic when she growls appropriately on the right songs.

      • Zach

        *just love

    • tyla

No kidding. She was fair at best, especially when compared with other singers who have covered that song on Idol before her. And Paul had one of the stand out performances of the night, conversely, so I’d swap Lauren for Paul in the bottom 3 just based on performance.

  • BeBe

I love Stephano. I am not sure why people hate on him but he has one of the most talented voices I have ever heard on Idol. Paul should go!

    • Smeg Ma

People hate on him because he’s quite boring. Who listens to “when a man loves a woman” nowadays? He’s an R&B cliche.

    • Templar

I can only speak for myself. I don’t hate Stefano. I hate his song choices. He has the look and type to do upbeat bouncy pop and get everyone going. Instead he repeatedly chooses an overemotional song which he does in a melodramatic style. Wrong answer.

  • Nancy

I think STEFFANO should go tonight
My top three have always been SCOTTY,JAMES,PAUL,CASEY

    • What?

      That’s four.

      • tma6469

        cant stop laughing

      • Templar

Close enough for jazz, I guess.

      • Yup

Sadly, the American education system has failed once again.

  • DreamyK

Everyone wave goodbye to Jacob! At this point in the show the vocals are pretty good. Audience members are now looking at mannerisms and stage presence. Jacob is just painful to watch. Others are just not interesting to watch, like Pia. Seriously girl, you have a beautiful voice but you are boring us to death. Scotty mugging all the time and that weird way he holds the microphone are a distraction. Stefano did well last night, but I found myself watching him to see if he kept his eyes open. Haley and that growling, turn off. She has taken the Judges suggestion WAY too far. Lauren was decent, but her clothes jacked up her hoo-haa is getting old. The Durbs is always interesting, especially with his nervous tic that give him the magical eyebrows O’ fun. Paul has an infectious spirit but needs to stopping grinning like a maniacal serial killer. Casey. Does he understand the content of the songs he sings or is just intent on being a hipster?
    Bottom Three:
    Jacob
    Scotty
    Pia

    • Anita

      Dreamy K,
That was a very entertaining post!!!!!

    • Peggy

      Hilarious

    • CigiNichole

      Okaay, so to DreamyK`s comment
Jacob is okaay maybe just a little bit painful to watch, but he’s got good vocals. As for Pia, i agree she COULD be a little bit LESS boring, and last night’s performance wasn’t her best. She tried a little too hard. LMFAO! The way Scotty holds his microphone IS distracting, i couldn’t watch the performance WITHOUT looking at his microhponemanship ( if thats a word )but he is a GREAT singer. When it came to Stefano, i was also watching to see if he kept his eyes open, he definitely didn’t perform as well as im sure he could. Haley and that growling, i think gave her a better edge to her voice. Lauren was okaay. James Durbin, i’ve been cheering him on since DAY ONE, personally to me he appears to be a different version of Adam Lambert, except James to more hotter, and not gay ( i hope ). Paul’s manically serial killer smile, scares mee… i don’t think he’s that great of a singer. &&&&& as for Casey, Casey is AMAZING.

My bottom three, Paul, Stefano, Jacob.

      • Zach

I was with you until you said James was hotter than Adam and that you hoped he isn’t gay.

      • Lincoln

“Case is AMAZING”? Uh. Ms. CigiNichole are you watching with the TV on mute? He’s not a bad singer but he is also not amazing .

    • Zach

Jesus, was there anyone you DID like?

    • DZ

LOL @ the magical eyebrows o’ fun. But I pretty much agree with everything you said.

    • annieTX

magical eyebrows O’ fun. heh. heh heh.

      • saundra harbison

Dreamy is what your doing if you think Jacob has good vocals! He man is horrific and what he done to MJ’s song was horrific and insulting to all of MJ’s fans! I personally am PO at his arrogant attitude thinking he could sing MJ’s beautiful song and turn it into the wreckage he made. How dare he? Paul is just a country boy from Alabama..he’s cool…the rest I agree

    • stars

Jacob goes home tonight can,t handle the screaming anymore, judges must be deaf.Pia will be in the top three that girls got pipes WOW.

    • IdolGMa

I mostly agree. I actually think the voting is a case where many voters are watching the judges critique and placing them accordingly. So if they didn’t want to see certain ones go, they shouldn’t have criticized them and then let the worse voices go without negative feedback. As you say, they spoiled it for many of us by pointing out details that we now can’t help but watch for. Personally, Pia has the best female voice, but doesn’t move. Could you sit through a 2 hour concert (mandated by her recording contract)? Many voters went to Youtube’s Tina Turner and Celine Dion’s version of the song and her performance didn’t compare. Scotty sings out of the corner of his mouth– great voice but—annoying and again he doesn’t move. Stefano has the best male voice, but you can now hear the “crutches” ,his characteristics vocal runs. He needs uptempo songs. He’s looking for songs to match his soul and he’s finding repeats and choosing songs that I didn’t like even when they hit the charts in my era. Haley is a lounge singer and the growling puts her firmly there, again, a crutch. Lauren also uses the typical country vocal crutches and her clothing choice was unflattering. James, when you take away the stage antics, doesn’t have a great voice. It’s the performer in him that makes him good. Paul is simply an armpit with teeth. His vocal range is limited, and as a fan of Johnny Cash and Roger Miller, his rendition of Folsom Prison Blues made me cringe. It would have been better sung by Scotty. Casey is not consistent. For him, it’s song choice. He’s interesting and has a wide range of talent, but he’s got to choose the right songs and I’m worried about his mental stability.
