Today is the worst day of the year — especially for a gullible person like myself. (I’m not ashamed to admit it.) I would normally avoid the Internet completely, but when Nathan Fillion’s tweet declaring Castle had been canceled appeared in my Twitter stream, there was a momentary pause in my heartbeat. (Actually, it was probably more like a couple of minutes — I can’t be sure. I was sprawled on the floor when I came to.) Of course, I realized soon after that it was April Fools’ Day — and I’d been made a fool. Oh, Nathan.
So ‘fess up, PopWatchers. Have you been fooled today? Perhaps you’ve been duped by one of the things on my list of Top Ten Internet Shenanigans (detailed below). Share your stories of Foolishness – there’s no shame here… but people may laugh at you — and feel free to add to the list.

Nostalgia Critic posted the death of Sean Connery… totally believed him for a few minutes!
not bad, Nathan wins. at least he did not tease us with Firefly being renewed, I would jumped with joy and then cried uncontrollably
The TV addict actually did just that. They said that Netflix had bought the rights to Firefly and Joss, Jane, and others have already written a full season of scripts that would be filmed after Avengers.
SOOOOOOOOOOOo evil!!!
I would have had the same reaction! Then I would have pouted for like three days after realizing it was a trick.
You’re not the only one who was tricked by the Critic. I was actually getting ready to copy it as my Facebook status before realizing today’s date.
Was Adam Lambert getting thrown out of Lady Gaga’s birthday bash an April Fools joke?
Colbert and Fallon singing “Friday” was freakin’ fantastic!
ABC.com — check out their home page and eCards for new shows…White Castle, Body of 90Proof, Brick Swan
Lmao. I saw those. They were hilarious!!!! Brick Swan, White Castle, Bieber with You, That’s What Bree Said, and Extreme Makeover: Rome Edition were my favorites. So great!
Funny or Die’s Rebecca Black stuff was actually pretty funny.
Loved her critique of her lyrics. She is a surprisingly adept cultural critic.
Gotta be ThinkGeek.com’s offerings of such products as edible gummy iPhone cases, arsenic-based sea monkeys and “De-3D” cinema glasses that convert 3D movies into 2D, “allowing you to watch in comfort.”
loooove that.
Loved those. Esp. the Star Wars Light Saber popsicles. And thinkgeek said on Twitter that the De-3D glasses were inspired by Roger Ebert!
yelps adopt a puppy for the month!
I totally WANT google motion! PS… I am also a student at NV Polytechnic College.
It’s like having a Wii in the office!
I feel like Google missed an opportunity with the “Try Google Motion” button: it SHOULD have activated your webcam and filmed you doing that crazy stuff, then played it back for you so you could see how stupid you looked.
tee-hee!
that’s illegal in 47 states
For Doctor Who fans, there was a site saying Rose and Martha were going to reappear in the season finale. I admit I was kinda bummed when I realized it wasn’t true.
I read on another site that Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were seen together…only for it to be totally false. Oh, how that hurt my McGosling-Notebook-loving heart.
I read on Bloodydisgusting.com that a never-before-seen version of Friday the 13th was found during an auction. I started reading what it was about and happened to look down at the corner of my screen, seeing today’s date…….damn. i fell for it.
Either NPR’s story on a surgery that allows you to watch 3D movies without glasses or the Red Cross announcing a Zombie Preparedness program.
Almost made it through the whole day without getting tricked, but I bought NPR’s funny food advertising story hook, line and sinker!
NPR got me this year with their Slow Internet Movement, a report on the new treand of people returning to dial up for the zen like calmness the act if waiting produces. They even interviewed the lead of OK Go and played a snippet of a new song influenced by the idea of going old school. I thought the people were nuts to like the sound of dial up but I didn’t catch on that it was an April Fool’s joke until the following week when they were reading letters.
Hootsuite.com claimed to have created a ‘Happy Owls’ mobile game.
Nathan’s tweet messed with my head too. The Castle one and just for a brief moment….his cat was eaten by coyotes..lol Even though I knew better…Darn April Fools Day!
tv.ign.com–”The Aurors” trailer for a new FX TV series based off of the HP books. Part of me was relieved, part of me was disapointed…all of me was emberassed that I emailed it to 20 friends.
The Aurors one was the one I wished was real!
I so so badly wanted that to be real. I knew when I read it that it was an April Fool’s joke (because I saw it on ONTD and the post was titled “harry potter april fool’s”) but still. I’m kinda upset about that.
Perez Hilton had me convinced that Glee was going to follow in Buffy’s footsteps and do a silent episode later this year. I was the guy sending the funny links of other stuff to his friends, but I fell for that one hook line and sinker. I’m such a fool.
That Mark Zuckerberg bought the rights to Firefly and would now be ready to get Fillion back into the uniform. Got me for a minute! To be fair…he has plenty of money to do so!
