There was a movie I really wanted to go see in a theater (Cedar Rapids) but it wasn’t playing anywhere near me. By the time it came around I just didn’t care anymore.
this is why i stick with TV. I’ll wait for dvd for most films. Until then my 24 & LOST dvds will help with the pain. Most TV shows are better than movies nowadays. Point blank period.
Ticket prices are too high and alll the popcorn, candy, soda, hot dog are too high as well. You are easily spending almost spending a hundred dollars just for 3 people. (mom, dad, kid). If you add more people like a friend or more kids it totals to be a lot more. It is cheaper to rent a movie say 6 dollars and buy popcorn or order pizza. You are saving a lot.
Concessions are the killer, even if the tickets were a deal. It is so expensive to feed and liquid the children. Then your own ticket to watch a lame movie they might like. But “How to Train Your Dragon” was delightful. Grown up movies include the cost of a sitter. As much as I love, love going to the “The Movies”. Netflix is a great alternative. The only I care about seeing is the new Harry Potter. Hollywood and the Oscars take note.
Maybe because people are tired of 3D, and the movies in general suck, and that I can wait three months and rent it for a dollar.
I was at the beach in Feb. and went to see a couple of movies while I was there but I cannot remember what they were.
i hate that every movie takes place in new york or LA.i’ve been to both and they aren’t that great.
It’s quite simple…crappy movies + high ticket prices = Poor value (I’d rather stay home or find something else to do!)
We are definitely seeing a historical change in the way people spend time to be entertained. Getting my family to go to a movie theater is like pulling teeth. The wife prefers TV series for character development and despises the special effects hyperactive movies of today (with very little character development). The teenage kids would rather play video games, watch youtube clips, or surf the net. They never watch TV, let alone movies. I personally still go for the blockbusters, but agree that audiences, 20 minutes of advertising before the movie, and ticket prices make me not want to go anymore. I also hate the reboots of classic movies as I would actually prefer watching the original on Netflix. Hollywood is in big trouble.
Every time I go to the Broadway Multiplex Theatre in Hicksville, Long island, New York, I literally FREEZE! Everyone sits with coat, scarf, gloves boots in winter and in the summer you must take along a winter coat. It doesn’t mean anytthing to complain–nothing happens. My friends have complained to the manager on different occassions and he gives them a free pass to the next movie. Who wants to go? It’s uncomfortable and unhealthy.
