Jimmy Fallon promises that Stephen Colbert will sing 'Friday'

Stephen Colbert crashed Jimmy Fallon’s show last night, to shame his BFFSM (Best Friend For Six Months) into prying open his wallet. You see, Colbert had announced on his own show that Fallon was matching a $26,000 donation to the charity, DonorsChoose.org. The slight snafu: Fallon had never actually made such a commitment, so here he was last night, backing out of a deal that he never made in the first place. “If you can’t donate $26,000 of your best friend’s money without asking him first, then what’s the point of being Best Friends,” Colbert charged. “I give, I give, and I give … your money … to other people. And I get nothing back.”

Colbert vanished as quickly as he’d arrived, allowing a contemplative Fallon to turn the tables. “If we can raise $26,000 by this Friday, I will promise that my BFF for Six Months, Stephen Colbert, will come on this show and sing Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’ with The Roots,” said Fallon. “And that is a promise that I am making … from him … to you.”

Take a look.

Pass around the hat, FalPals (Fallonious Monks? Fallon’s FunBags? The 12:37 TimeSluts?) We’re only a quarter of the way to our financial goal, and the clock is ticking. I’ve heard Colbert sing lollipop songs like Alicia Keys “Empire State of Mind.” Now it’s time for him to tackle “one of the most important songs of our time.” Won’t you do it for the children?

A great bit for a great cause. What’s the problem?

I’m loving this friendship/collaboration with Jimmy and Stephen. I only hope that somehow Jon Stewart will make a cameo in Stephen’s “Friday” performance.

I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised with Fallon in the Late Night gig. Great stuff.

I think Fallon’s is the most consistently funny of the network shows. I would say Kimmel’s, but his hasn’t been as good lately.

Correction: Kimmel hasn’t been funny in a long time. I think he realizes that his show will never be a hit so he just stopped trying.

Agree. I expected him to suck, but between Real Housewives of Late Night, The Roots, and the random games on the show, he’s becoming my second favorite network host (#1 is Craig Ferguson).

I still think Fallon is awful. He’s just not funny or creative or interesting in my opinion. I will say though that he does seem like a very nice guy.

Monday, February 4, 2013 at 6:51 pm oh I just LOVE this question (and your resnpose!) I would say my pipe dream would be leaving my finance job in DC and moving to a modern loft in NYC. I’d work as a luxury travel advisor who specialized in shopping vacations and spend 25% of my time traveling the world in search of fabulous hotels, exotic markets and luxury boutiques and 75% at home working with clients, eating my way through the city with my husband and playing with my (currently non-existent) puppy! Such a fun thing to think about
