African dance? I thought Naima was having a seizure!
If you don’t know a thing about African dance, STFU.
agreed leila. that dancing was on-point and QUITE entertaining. and she thought of that and what instruments she wanted on her own. DON’T let her miss the top 10. she’ll make the tour fun!!
I wouldn’t be sorry to see either Naima or Thia can leave now. Naima is not a great singer. Perhaps theater would be a better niche for her. Thia is cute and has a pleasant voice but she’s not in the same league as the other singers/performers.
OMG Where is Simon when you need him? The Country guy sucked SO BAD!! Please people, can you not even say anything bad to these contestants – they are SOOOO boring this time and they don’t have to “bring it” because you all keep telling them how good they are and they AREN’T. The “Rod Stewart” guy was horrible – you need to tell him and the chick that sings only ballads was told last week to do something different and just ignored it. Simon would be all over that stuff!!! Thank God there is “Dancing with the Stars” and we have Bruno and the English guy who tells the truth and the chick who keeps telling everyone that they are “stiff”. At least they know how to judge instead of worrying that someone might not “like” them.
I love getting the inside scoop from Michael. He has awesome insights and clearly cares about each contestant so much. I look forward to these updates as well as watching him accompany the contestants on Ellen every week!!
Dear EW, these coaches talk articles are some of the best stuff I have read here. Thank you and please keep them coming. The vocal coach Debra is so cool and genuine. I Loved what she said about Paul. She said his performance sounded like he could make that a single and make it a hit record.
IS Jacob Lusk GAY????? just asking???
Scotty is no Harry Nilsson! And the way he’s holding the mic…please get him to stop…
Scotty should be safe, but I know that Thia and Haley can get better of the teens.
And I am also rooting for Naima to survive the cut because it is time to shed that old Cowell BS about it is “ONLY ABOUT THE SINGING”. And dance, movement, even trying to project personality is bad if a “precious note is missed!”
Don’t just look at the contemporary scene to see who is making money as stage performers in concerts….look at the historical Idols..Elvis, James Darren, Sammy Davis, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson…all had dance ability and stage presence.
I was sorry Casey was almost eliminated, however after the 11 performances, I wondered how anyone could be voted off…well, what do you know – a “top 11″! I had no interest in going to a summer performance last year, but this year I will really try to go again – the quality of the talent is so good…has anyone ever speculated why this year is so much better? Maybe no Simon has something to do with it!
I have never been really interested in going to see an Idol concert before, but now that Casey is going to be there, I just might. The judges definitely did the right thing. His fans just took for granted that he would be fine and voted for others they liked as well that were in real danger…. which is why Naima and Haley were not in bottom 3… a lot of Casey’s votes went to them instead. I think Casey will be fine for awhile now because his fans will not want that kind of scare again!
woww proud of these peaple
Thank you judges, it’s so great to get your take on it. I especially loved hearing the comments on James Durbin. I think he’s easy to mis-judge, I think he’s amazing like you do Michael O – it’s great to hear it from a vocal coach!
