With Fox’s The Wolverine movie likely not starting production for at least a couple more months, Hugh Jackman decided to do what any Hollywood star with some free time would do — sing! Starting May 3, Jackman will perform at San Francisco’s Curran Theatre in a two-week show featuring the actor singing his favorite Broadway and Hollywood numbers. In the production, aptly titled Hugh Jackman in Performance at the Curran Theatre, the X-Men actor will be backed by a 17-piece orchestra.
It’s a spontaneously gutsy decision, but Jackman’s clearly got the musical background for this kind of extravaganza. After all, he won the 2004 Tony Award for best actor in a musical for The Boy From Oz, in which he portrayed the Australian singer-songwriter Peter Allen. And Jackman’s done this sort of concert before, albeit as a one-night-only gig in 2005 at Las Vegas’ Wynn Resort. The real question now is: What will Jackman perform at the Curran Theatre? In addition to Oz, the guy has starred in the musicals My Fair Lady, Sunset Boulevard, Oklahoma!, Carousel, and even Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. (Fast-forward to 2:28 in this video to see Jackman as the villainous brute Gaston).
But, of course, Jackman’s not limited to just his own repertoire. PopWatchers, please offer him some suggestions — which songs should Wolverine serenade his audience with?

I wish I lived in the SF area! I would definitely buy tickets to see Hugh sing live. Would love to hear him sing something from Les Miserables!
Is he out yet?
No, he’s happily married with a family and much more manly than you could ever hope to be…anymore childish, silly questions?
none of that means anything
The headline says “a two week concert” — I have to tell you along about day 4, I imagine he’s going to get pretty tired.
A year of The Boy From Oz, on stage for all but 1 number, never missed a performance even with stress fractures in his feet…he’s a pro and a little 2 week gig isn’t going to bother him at all!
That’s cuz his bones are made of adamantium.
My two picks:
1. “All I Care About is Love” from Chicago.
2. Nothing from “Viva Laughlin.”
Given that there is a possible Les Miz movie coming up, and that Hugh Jackson has to be a (the?) leading candidate to play Valjean, it would make sense for him to put Valjean’s solos on the program if he’s remotely interested in the part.
I completely agree. In my opinion he’s the only solid option for Valjean. He should definitely include some Les Miz in the concert.
His Name is JACKMAN
Definitely songs from musicals he has performed in ( especially Soliloquy and If I Loved You from Carousel…and of course from The Boy from Oz. Also, movie song classics ( such as Luck Be A Lady from Guys and Dolls) and maybe some Sinatra movie songs. Hugh has such a varied repertoire ( Remember “The Musical is Back” from the 2009 Oscars?) that he can easily put together an excellent songlist. Btw, his first audition song was STARS from Les Mis.
I’m looking for tickets now!!
He almost has to close with “Once Before I Go” from OZ since he knocks that one out of the park. I strong agree about Val Jean. He would be perfect.
Ooh…… A two week concert, EW?
Let’s hope there’s an intermission!
I hope he at least sings one song as wolverine
Can he also come to my hometown of Mission, Texas and perform here?
I don’t understand. He’s such a huge star. He sells out bdwy every time! Wy would he be doing a little 2 week off bdwy show in SF?
It seems that a lot of performers try out new material in San Francisco so he may be doing it for that reason.
Dang….why not in NYC?!
WHY NOT MIAMI ?
And why not London? Hmm? He has been on Broadway twice, does NY have him reserved or what? Not everybody is from NY and not everybody has a chance to pay a lots of money to see him.
I live in San Francisco and will definitely see this. I hope I have the joy of hearing him sing something from Phantom and yes something from Les Miserables but please not “Master of the House”!
Something from Les Miz
“No Answer”or “Pulse” by Gillian Grassie
