I don’t htink it’s any use hating on Rachel Black. I hate the song, but she wasn’t responsible for the horrible HORRIBLE autotune and definitely not the lyrics- you can blame the usher clone randomly rapping about school buses.
If you look at the top ten singles right now, it’s filled with manurfactured pop artists who aquire no substance in their songs, and most of them can’t even sing thier songs live. Just a bunch of pop/dance crap that no one will remember 5 years from now. These little girls eat it up, so it’s not a surprise that this girl thinks she can be a star. If Kesha and Katy Perry can do it, she certainly can.
‘member when you’d sing into your brush over Madonna/Debbie Gibson/Britney/Miley and it would drive your folks insane but you were sure you sounded, like, awesome? People don’t hate the song. They hate that icky memory that it dredges up of ourselves as clueless day-glo tweens who thought Backstreet Boys was da bomb. Rebecca Black is our mirror, our dusty old diary and it makes us cringe because we like to think we were never that girl. Let the girl sing, people.
