Celebrities Tweet support for Japan after earthquake

After the devastating 8.9-magnitude earthquake hit Japan in the early hours of the morning here in the United States, actor/director Jon Favreau was among the first celebrities to tweet a reaction. “Our prayers go out to the people of Japan,” he wrote. That was roughly nine hours ago, and since, many celebrities, some with ties to the country and Hawaii (where tsunami warnings were issued earlier this morning), have tweeted words of support.

“All our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan…”

Brooke Burke
“Watching the devastating coverage if the Tsunami. my kids are asking so many questions that I cant answer.”

Mike Shinoda, Linkin Park
“Thoughts and prayers go out to people of Tokyo and surrounding areas.”

Ian Somerhalder, The Vampire Diaries
“I’m so so so sorry Japan as well as everywhere and everyone effected by this horrific event. Speechless. Help is on the way”

George Takei
“Today we are all Japanese. Give $10 to help. Text REDCROSS to 90999, or click http://ow.ly/4ctzx Pls RT!”

    I’m so sorry for Japan, it’s so horrible moment for all people of our planet, i’m living in Uzbekistan and i’m sending my prayers for Japan.

    Thank god. I don’t know what the Japanese would do without all those tweets. It’s better than actual help.

      Thank God we have celebrities to guide us through this horrible time. I wouldn’t know what to think or do. WWCSD? What would Charlie Sheen do?

    • BLM

      Exactly! When I saw this headline, all I could think was, “Put down your phone and pick up your checkbooks, dumb stupid celebrities!”

    @KaGe Touche!

    KaGe – I was thinking the same thing. Celebs tweeting about a disaster should only be news if they are giving and encouraging aid. George Takei has the right idea.

    Whi said they aren’t doing anything? Just becase they ‘voice’/tweet support doesn’t mean they don’t do anything else

    Why aren’t these celebrities doing anything like a TV fundraiser or concerts??? When Japan gets hit with this huge disaster no one in Hollywood is helping! Really sad!
