johnny-depp-charactersImage Credit: Mary Ellen Mark (2); Firooz Zahedi; Anthony MandlerWe’ve seen him play an eccentric pirate, an eccentric chocolatier, an eccentric filmmaker, and an eccentric… eccentric (that’s at least how we would label the Mad Hatter), but on March 4, we’ll see Depp take on an eccentric (and animated) chameleon named Rango in Rango. And, come to think of it, looking at his previous roles, Depp himself is an eccentric chameleon, no? But which eccentric character from Depp’s impressive resumé is first in your heart? Jeff Probst on episode 2 of 'Survivor: Redemption Island'

Each week, Survivor host Jeff Probst answers a few questions about the most recent episode of Redemption Island.

The alliances Boston Rob and Russell are in on their tribes are pretty clear, but play a little “Survivor What If?” with me, Jeff: What if Rob pulls the purple buff at the start of the game, and Russell the orange one? Tell me how the teams would be different and whom you think those two would be aligned with had they ended up on the opposite tribe.

Wow. Great question. Surprised I never thought of that myself. I think Russell might have been a bit more welcomed on Ometepe. Grant, Matt, some of the girls might have initially been more open while Kristina and Francesca and Philip would probably be against him. If Rob were on Zapatera I think most the tribe would still be wary. I think they would see Rob much the same way they see Russell – as a guy who has played before and is therefore a major threat. In general Zapatera seems very reluctant. Just in general. Reluctant. READ FULL STORY »

'Shedding for the Wedding' premiere brings out best and worst in TV, weight loss, weddings, humanity

Shedding-for-the-WeddingImage Credit: J Squared/The CWHow’s that for an all-encompassing headline? This show is everything, ever! The CW’s new couples weight loss series Shedding for the Wedding debuted tonight after the cycle 16 premiere of America’s Next Top Model. So far, I like it much better than The Tired and Boring Biggest Loser and any other reality show that deals with self-involved bitches obsessing over THEIR BIG DAY. Out of nine couples, only a few are truly obnoxious, and some are actually likable! READ FULL STORY »

Whether hunting crabs, challenging the opposing tribe, or showing off tattoos, Phillip was ready to take on any man tonight on Survivor: Redemption Island. (No women, however. Lindsay Lohan wears fancy pants to court. Who decides her attire?

lindsay-lohan-courtroom-dressImage Credit: Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage.com; David Buchan/WireImage.com; Toby Canham/Getty Images; Toby Canham/Getty ImagesOn Feb. 9, Egyptian civilians were still in the throes of protest and South Korea agreed to resume discussions with North Korea over humanitarian issues, but all Hollywood could talk about that day was The. White. Dress. (Idiocracy, guys. It’s coming! Yay humanity!) You know, the Kimberly Ovitz-designed dress Lindsay Lohan wore to her arraignment, during which she pleaded not guilty to felony grand theft charges, filed after the actress was accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace in Venice, Calif. Supporters felt the white was wise to enforce her innocent claims; detractors felt an outfit that confined her curves was too revealing for a court appearance that could lead to the confines of a jail cell.

Today, however, Lohan showed up to her grand theft hearing wearing a much more conservative outfit (reportedly made up of Chanel, Lanvin, YSL, and Tres Glam jewelry), despite a low-cut shirt, prompting many to wonder whether she intentionally covered up after her last dress incited anger in some observers. Mike Tyson picks 'Avatar' for Best Pic, says Wahlberg vulnerable without Funky Bunch

I always loved when The Spectacled Critic and The Bald Critic would tangle over movies from the balcony during Oscar season, so I was a sucker for Leonard Maltin discussing this year’s Oscars with Mike Tyson, via FunnyOrDie. The champ flexed his dynamic verbosity, calling Halle Berry’s performance in his Best Picture prediction Avatar “stupyfying.” Maltin carefully switched subjects, asking Tyson what he thought of Mark Wahlberg’s performance in The Fighter and whether Wahlberg could hold his own in the ring. “Is it going to be Marky Mark by himself or is he going to have the Funky Bunch with him?” asked Tyson. “There’s a possibility he might get obliviated without the Funky Bunch.”

I nominate Mike Tyson to work the red carpet next Sunday. Check out the slightly NSFW meeting of cinematic minds below. READ FULL STORY »
